A New Friend

Feng Hei Lang leapt towards him, creating a thin shadow barrier to prevent herself from being burnt.

Kirei had a small smile on his face as he lifted up his sword once more. "I see. You have the ability to stop my flames. Not bad." He started slashing at her in smooth motions.

She activated [Dash] and leapt back out of range. 'Tch! Close combat is not good for me. He's more well-versed, and my weapons are more suited for long-range anyways.'

Bringing out her daggers, Feng Hei Lang used [Dancing Dagger]. They flew towards Kirei in a spiral, but with a wave of his hand, they dissolved from his flames.

She annoyedly waved her hand and formed more daggers from [Shadow Manipulation]. 'He can't break through these! They're made of shadows!'

Kirei started parrying them to the side, but they instantly shot back at him. Suddenly, he did this very fast sword movement, Feng Hei Lang couldn't catch.

She widened her eyes. 'What was that? It seemed like he did some sorta all-direction slash!' Feng Hei Lang started running towards him. She activated [Camouflage] and [Presence Concealment] so that it looked like she vanished in midair.

Kirei turned around, looking for her, but couldn't see her. Instead, he lifted up his hand and black fire spiraled onto the ground.

Feng Hei Lang used [Flashing Steps] and [Shadow Manipulation] to make small platforms she could stand on. She made a sword from her shadow and then swung it at Kirei, crossing blades.

He had a wild smile on his face. Feng Hei Lang called out, "Xing, [Meteor Rain]!" The sky became dark and Kirei jumped far away from her. A huge boulder was seen spiraling towards him. It was covered in fire and rushing quick and fast.

Feng Hei Lang called out again, "Xing, [Starfall]!" Silver streaks of light started falling along with the huge boulder. As they were about to hit the ground, she used [Shadow Manipulation] to form a dome around herself.

The explosion could be heard throughout the entire school, and the ground was shaking violently.

There was no more sounds after that, so Feng Hei Lang got out of the dome. She couldn't see him anywhere. 'Oh no! Did I TTaccidentally kill him?'

A voice sounded from behind her. "It's your loss."

Feng Hei Lang spun around to see Kirei holding a his sword to the back of her neck. She let out a little laugh. "It is my loss. Thank you for the duel."

He nodded. "Transfer Feng Hei Lang 25 tallies."

Feng Hei Lang dipped her head. "Thank you."

The girl who was watching cheered. "Yeah, Your Highness! I knew that some random Bronze Rank couldn't hurt you at all! I bet you didn't even go all out!"

Kirei ignored her and waved a hand at the ground. Instantly, two bottles of juice popped up from the ground. He picked one up and walked to Feng Hei Lang. "Here."

She took it from his hand and gave him a grin. "Thanks." Feng Hei Lang popped it open and took a big sip. "Ahhhh~ What is this? Apple juice?"

He shook his head. "Etellia juice."

Feng Hei Lang frowned. 'What the heck is that?! I've never heard of it! It tastes exactly like apple juice!'

The girl walked over to Kirei. "Hey, Your Highness! Why didn't you give me a drink? You gave it to that Bronze Rank Disciple instead!"

He sighed and turned to the girl. "Screw off."

Feng Hei Lang almost spit out the drink. She coughed violently, trying not to choke. 'Did he just tell that girl to screw off? He doesn't seem like that type of person!' She let out a little laughter, but then couldn't hold it in.

Feng Hei Lang burst out laughing, pounding the grass. Kirei turned to her. "What's so funny?" She wiped some tears from her eyes. "It's just- Haha...I didn't expect you to be a person to tell someone to screw off...AHAHAHA!"

He gave her a small smile once more and then turned to the girl. "I won't say it again. Go away."

The girl frowned. "But Your Highness..."

Kirei turned away from her. "Away." She gave one final glare at Feng Hei Lang then stormed out of the courtyard.

He let out a sigh of relief and turned to Feng Hei Lang. "Nice to meet you, I'm Kirei Ren. Royal Navy Fox Clan and Platinum Rank Disciple as you should know."

She tilted her head and gave him a smile. "Feng Hei Lang. Two-Tailed Obsidian Fox Clan and Bronze Rank Disciple! Nice to meet you."

Kirei finished his drink and tossed it in a trash can. "How did you figure out my rank?"

Feng Hei Lang wiped her mouth of juice. "Well, I was Headmaster Zhong Qiu's office, and just happened to see it. Sorry for the invasion of privacy!" She dipped her head.

Kirei looked shocked and then started laughing. It was a wonderful sound, as if it was brimming with warmth. "Y-You went into Headmaster Zhong Qiu's office? On the first day at Hu Li University?"

She crossed her arms. "Hey! It wasn't my fault! I blame it on my master!"

His eyes were filled with curiosity now. "Your master?"

Feng Hei Lang nodded. "Yes, Master Xue. Snowy Fox."

He gaped. "That Xue? I-I was actually planning to ask if she wanted to take me as her student..." His tails and ears drooped.

She giggled at the sight. "Don't worry~ I'm sure she would take you if you asked!"

Kirei clenched his fist determinedly. "I'll go ask her sometime. I'm heading off for dinner now. See you later, Hei Lang."

Feng Hei Lang waved as he left the courtyard. "See you later too...Kirei."
