Chapter 14

Henry was on duty in the ER. He was shocked when Josh came running into the hospital carrying me on his arm.

"What happened?" asked Henry while pushing a wheelchair towards me.

"She sprained her ankle and nearly drown at the waterfall." answered Josh worriedly.

"Alright, put her down on the wheelchair and I will bring her into the ER room,"

"You wait here. I will inform you once I am done," said Henry to Josh.

"How are you feeling, Sabrina?" asked Henry while pushing me into one of the ER ward.

"Painful and tired." I replied.

In the ER ward, Henry checked my ankle and then he helped to ice and bandaged it.

"You sprained your ankle quite badly. It will take a few weeks to heal." explained Henry.

Then he proceeded to listen to my lungs with the stethoscope.

" All is clear. No water in the lungs. However, I will give you a shot of antibiotics to prevent any infection." explained Henry.

"I will go and get Josh to bring you home," added Henry.

He then walked out of the ER room while the nurse helped me onto the wheelchair.

Josh was waiting anxiously outside.

"I had informed the driver to come and pick us up at the front door. He will be here in awhile more." informed Josh.

"I will check on you again later when I get home." said Henry to me.

When the driver arrived, Josh carried me into the car and put me down on the back seat of the car. We were quiet all the way home. When we reached home, I saw Master Lim, Aunt Helen, Chen and Aom were standing in front of the door waiting for us anxiously.

"Are you alright, Sabrina?" asked Aunt Helen worriedly while Josh carried me on his arm again.

Before I could answer, Josh answered for me.

"She is alright, mother. She sprained her ankle and Henry had attended to it," explained Josh.

I felt guilty for making them worried about me.

"Sorry for making all of you worried." I apologized.

"No need to apologize, Sabrina. It was an accident." replied Master Lim.

Then Josh carried me up the stairs to my room followed by Aom.

After Josh put me down on the bed, he left the room.

I spent most of my holidays reading on my bed. Aom brought all my meals to my bedroom. Every day Henry would come to check on me. Sometimes he would stay and talk while some other times he would rush off for his work.

I can't stop thinking about Josh after what happened. I can't concentrate on my reading. What has he done to me? I had never felt like that about a person before. However, throughout my recovery time I did not see Josh. He did not come and visit me.

Aom told me that Josh left early every morning with Master Lim and Chen to the paddy factory. He was helping out at the factory as there were a lot of work. It was the harvesting season.

My ankle healed completely after two weeks. I was able to walk normally.

I went down for dinner as usual and he was there. I sat opposite him.

Aunt Helen was very happy that my ankle healed completely.

I stole glances at Josh while he was busy talking to Master Lim during dinner time.

He caught me staring at him. I quickly looked away but my blushing cheeks gave me away.

After dinner, all of us proceeded to the living for dessert. Master Lim and Aunt Helen excused themselves after awhile. They were tired after a long day and wished to retire early. So it was just the two of us in the living room.

"How do you feel? It looks like your ankle has fully heal," said Josh breaking the awkward silence between us.

"Yes. I can move and walked on my own now. Thank you for rescuing me at the waterfall that day," I told Josh while looking straight into his eyes.

"Just a thank you is not enough. I think I deserve more than that, don't you think?" he said teasingly.

"Then what do you want?" I asked him confusingly.

"How about going on a date with me this Saturday? We will go for dinner then to a movie. What do you say?" he asked me with twinkling eyes.

"Ok then. It's a deal. See you on Saturday. Good night then," I replied and stood up to return to my room.

What had just happened? Am I really going on a date with Josh?
