Chapter 6

She makes her sit on a small stool in front of a white big old style vanity. "Now let's do your eyebrows first darling" and then Aster just tune out her grandma's voice. After a few minutes that seem like an hour, her makeover is done. "Isn't this much better?" she lovingly booped the tip of her granddaughter's nose. "Now, what should we do with your hair?" She says while brushing the younger's hair with her fingers.

"Ah, I know" and so, she starts her magic. Her hair is a simple messy braid. "As I am doing your hair, I want to tell you how you are going to behave when meeting him," she says proudly. A small sigh left the younger's mouth "nana, I know how I should behave when I meet him" as she rolls her eyes.

"No, you don't," the other says strictly making the younger rolls her eyes again "roll your eyes again, I'm sure you'll find your brain back there". Aster just sighs as her grandma continues what she was doing "When you meet him, be POLITE" says her grandma emphasizing the 'polite'.

"Nana, when am I not polite," she says monotonously she felt her head jerked to the side as she realised what had happened, the side her head stung. The old woman had smacked her on the side of the head a loud hiss comes out of her mouth "you were being a brat" her nana said simply.

"Nana, what makes you think I need you to find me a man?" Her nana let out of a scoff "I don't think you need me to find a man, I know so". Aster furrows her eyebrows "your defence is invalid nana" she says while scrunching her face if she says that she's not mad is a lie. Aster is furious but doesn't show it because she still wants to respect her nana likewise.

"Nana, I don't have any time to date right now," she says as she remembers what she had dreamed back at the abandoned house. "I have a book to write nana" through the reflection of the mirror, she sees her nana shook her head. "W-why are you shaking your head like that?" Aster asks while stuttering "because your book writing is not going to get you anywhere".

At this point, Aster felt like her nana had truly crossed the line " nana what is wrong with you!?" She exclaims. "What do you mean?" Her nana asks innocently "you're being anencephalous!" Aster yells at her grandma for the first time.

"I honestly don't know what you're talking about child," her grandmother says innocently. "Nana, you do realise the food, water bills, electricity bills as well as your daily spending is from me writing right?". A sigh escapes from the girl after her sentence "well yes was but was it enough? I don't think so" her grandmother's statement made her even more furious.

She looks at her grandmother through the mirror with disbelief written on her face. "What do you mean it's not enough!? Also, since when have you been like this!?" Aster asks her grandma her voice filled with confusion and shock.

"After what that future husband of yours had said to me of course!" Her grandma rolls her eyes as she speaks. Aster growls 'hey how about we threaten him later when we meet him?' Aster hears a voice 'why would we need to threaten him?' She talks back to the voice in her head. 'So that he will tell us what he told your gold digger of a grandmother sheesh, that old woman'. The stoic voice spoke up again in this case with an 'obviously' tone in her voice.

A sigh comes left Asters mouth out of the blue surprising her nana who is surprisingly still doing her hair. "What are you sighing about Aster?" She just pouts at her nana as an answer "nothing maybe it's because you're forcing me to go on a date with someone I don't even know". She furrows her eyebrows " oh, so NOW you don't want to go" emphasizing the 'now' in her sentence a small 'heh' escapes her lips. "What in the world!? Nana I never said I wanted all of this!" She felt her nana smacks her head, "you said you wanted to go!" Her nana raises her hand again. Making Aster flinch and covering her head as soon as this happens "you forced me to go nana!"

Her nana huffs "well, do you think you can back up from this? Too, late young lady!". "It isn't like I was given a choice before" she mutters to herself "the man is wearing a tuxedo, and he also has dark brown hair". Aster tries to imagine what the dude looks like but, she failed " wait, I'm driving to town?" Says Aster as she stood up. A chuckle left her grandmas mouth "no, a friend of mine will drive you there" the younger's eyes widened "wait, why!?".

"Because why not? She's sending her daughter's son here for me to babysit" hearing what her nana had said to her, makes her a bit anxious because she's not familiar with her grandma's friends. And adding up to that Aster is not good with strangers at all since dealing with strangers is not her everyday activity. Just the thought of having to deal with strangers always make her nervous "well, can I just drive myself there? I do not wang to trouble any of your friends". With a proud tone, her nana say "don't you worry, she has an appointment in the town as well!" Only an awkward chuckle can be heard from Aster. "Hm, I think you're all set up" in response the other just nod her head in agreement "so? What now?" The old lady replies "for now, let's wait downstairs for Anaya".

Aster hums quietly 'Anaya... Never heard that name before 'she thought to herself although she doesn't recognize any of her nana's friends, she knows their name and Anaya is not one of them. But, she just shrugged it off thinking that I could be the kid's name but then again, it's a boy and not a girl.
