Ese's pov

"Eni,are you sure you don't want to come with me?" I said feeling nervous for some reason. Eni,Jenny the make up artist Eni hired and i were currently in my room getting ready for the dinner party of the year,Eni's words not mine,she obviously thought going to this party was a big deal. Hell she hired a make up artist!!!. Which was why I didn't get why she adamantly refused to come to the party with me,i went as far as recruiting Ray to get her to come but she still didn't bludge. I wanted her there so badly for some unknown reason,I'm very sure it's the same reason why I'm so nervous. This was literally the twentieth time I was asking Eni to acompany me,Jenny my make up artist was looking at me with annoyance once again,I'm very sure I'm the worst she has ever worked with,interrupting her every second by talking to Eni. All to stop myself from dying of over thinking and nervousness,it was definitely not making her job easy. "I have told you,I don't want to go,i don't feel like,just tell me how it went when you get back" Eni replied from across the room. She was getting my dress and shoes from the closet. "Fine then" I said while grumbling She turned to give me a look and said " I don't get why you are acting like you guys are meeting for the first time" "Well this is kinda different right?,it's a date date right?" I said with uncertaintiy "Awwwn poor baby, you know nothing" She looked at me with pity "Of course it's a date,and it will be fine,more than fine,trust me,just be you,he likes you for you remember?" She questioned "Right I can do that" I said sheepishly Eni let out a laugh. "Stop laughing at me" I said feeling slightly hurt "I'm done" The make up artist said sounding relived From the look on her face, I'm really dreading looking at the mirror,she looked like she just ran a marathon or something. "you look amazing" Eni said while sniffing and removing fake tears from her eyes.Drama queen. I rolled my eyes "Can I please get a mirror?" I said to Jenny "Of course" She said and then handled me a mirror. I was staring at my reflection and I was amazed to say the least,I knew I was good looking but this.., I looked amazing. "Wow,you're awesome Jenny,where have you been all my life,I loved what you did with..., basically everything, the eye shadow,the eye liner, the highlights,my lips!!,wow you're really good" I said still staring at my reflection "And she said she didn't need you" Eni said teasingly "Awwwwn,thanks dear,happy to be of service,so happy you like it"Jenny said with a smile "Sorry for making it hard for you.., talking and all,I'm just so nervous " I said sheepishly "Nah it's fine,I totally get it,first dates can be like that and I have definitely had worse customers,plus you are already really beautiful it made my work easy" She said with a smile Well Hello my new and very first make artist,I said to myself Just then I heard the door bell. "Shit,what's the time?,that's probably Seyi" I said while running to my bed to get my phone. "It's freaking 7!!!,oh wow and I'm not even dressed yet!!" I said in panic Eni just walked up to me,pulled me down to the bed and then said "Ese stop acting like a crazy person,chill, I've got this" She turned to Jenny and said "Jenny dearie can you please help her get dressed?" "Definitely" Jenny replied "I'll go stay with Seyi till you're ready" She said and left I quickly removed my pink robe and hurriedly got into my dress.The dress Seyi insisted on buying and for some reason picked out before I got to wear it,saying it would look perfect on me. I took his words for it. The dress was a gold slik dress with gold stones immbeded in them,with a deep side slit,the dress showed a lot of cleavage but thankfully had a smooth net material covering the essentials. Jenny then helped me put on my gold diamonds immbede necklace,earrings and bracelet. After which she helped me put on my strapless nude heels. After a few minutes of retouching my makeup,I was finally ready to go meet Seyi and Eni in my sitting room. Seyi and Eni were so involved in a conversation that they didn't notice I had walked in,I decided to take advantage of the opportunity. Taking the time to stare at Seyi shamelessly. He looked amazing as always,his hair was cut really nicely. I realized I had never seen him in a suit but man did he look good. I was beginning to think nothing could look bad on him,he was wearing a black suit laced with gold wild flowers,black pants and black velvet shoes,he matched it up with a gold watch which seemed to have diamonds lacing them. He looked simple yet elegant,just how I like it. They finally noticed me,how do I know this?,because the guy I was currently staring at shamelessly was staring right back at me. His eyes roamed my body,from my eyes to my lips and then to other parts of me. His stare was beginning to make me uncomfortable. "Hello guys" Eni said breaking the trance Seyi seemed to be in. "Wow.....,you look beautiful" He said sounding breathless "Thanks,You look good too" I said with a smile "Just good?" He teased "Really good" I admitted "Just really good?" He said with a smirk "Don't push it" I said while letting out a laugh "But you know I look more than really good" He said smirking I was about to respond but Eni beat me to it. "Sorry to disturb the cute banter you guys have going on but the party started like 30 minutes ago,it's safe to say you guys are more than fashionably late" Eni said "Right right,we're leaving now" I said while practically dragging Seyi out with me "Hey!!,wait up,not without taking pictures" Eni said behind us. ***************** It's 8 and we just got to the venue,we are currently looking for a place to park,mostly Seyi though. While I'm scrolling through the pictures we took at my place. The pictures looked so nice,I can't wait to post them. "Finally!!" Seyi basically screamed I let out a laugh. *********** We got to the entrance of the Hall and had to stop to take pictures on the red carpet and entertain questions on our aitire from the school's press. We got to our reserved tables and were served drinks almost immediately and then the food followed. I was surprisingly enjoying the party, there were performances from popular Nigerian musicians and comedians and Seyi was definitely enjoying himself too. The Seyi I saw a day before was definitely no longer available,which I loved. He was smiling now and laughing so freely. It was almost 9,which means the party was coming to an end. I was feeling rather uneasy,we hadn't really talked about "us",not that we have had the time but I just wanted it to happen today so I'll know where we are at and all. A dance performance just ended,they were really good, I really enjoyed it and from the applauds I was hearing,i wasn't the only one. The MC followed after the performance and said "The first dance for the evening is about to begin and it will obviously be by the best dressed couple tonight,so drum roll....,the best dressed couple for tonight based on votes taken this evening goes to....., Pearl and Scott!!!!" There were applauds from all Conners of the room. I saw a couple getting up,the girl looked hesitant but her date wasn't having it,he held her close as they walked to the center of the hall,just then Johnny drille came up stage and everybody including me went wild. He started singing "Romeo and Juliet" And the ladies,again including me we're basically swooning while he sang and the couple danced. The sight was just really cute,the guy was muttering stuff to her obviously trying to calm her while she covered her face from view with the guys shoulders. She was obviously shy,which was understandable,being under the scrutiny of everyone here,I knew I would have been. Seyi leaned in to say something to me but my phone had to interrupt. It was my dad,he has been calling since I got into school but I wasn't having it,we got into a fight before I left home and we haven't talked since and I really wanted it to stay that way. But it has been weeks,I kinda have to pick up now.I said to myself. "I'll be right back" I said to seyi He noded and I stood up and walked away. I let out a sharp breath and it started "What is wrong with you!!!,why haven't you been picking up my calls,you think that because you are in the university now,you can get rotten,right!!?"
