Chapter 17 : The party : Part I
Nathaniel is now just behind Ellie as he is putting Ellie's necklace and they are facing the mirror.
I don't why but to feel that Nathaniel was so close to me just feels so good that I would like it to last a little more.
"And done", Nathaniel said after he finished to put the necklace,
"You are just perfect now", he then whispered.
Ellie's thoughts at that moment was : "Oh Gosh ! That voice is driving me crazy, it even makes me shiver"
"Uhm... Ellie I think I'll go now as I still have to pick up Jennifer", Nathaniel said, walking away from Ellie.
"What ?!", Ellie said, confused.
"Yeah, I told Jennifer that I was going to pick her up at her place and we would go to the party together", Nathaniel replied.
"But wouldn't you prefer to go with me instead ? I mean you don't have a car to go pick her up while I have one", said Ellie.
"Thanks but I'll just take a cab. But you can go with Larry if you want to. I'll see you at the party then", Nathaniel replied then hurried to leave Ellie's room.
"Yes but Larry is going with Kent so I'll be alone in the car ", Ellie replied but Nathaniel wasn't there anymore.
"And here I am, talking to myself", she added.
Finally I had arrived at the address Jennifer had given me, I was a little nervous when I was in the taxi and now also elsewhere, but hey when you have to go, you have to go. So I entered the building in which Jennifer lives and walked to the third. So I knocked on the door.
"Hello. Can I help you ?", said the girl who opened the door.
"Uh...This is apartment 3B, right ? I'm looking for Jennifer Blake", said Nathaniel, surprised as it wasn't Jennifer who opened the door.
"Yes, it is. Hold on, I'll call Jennifer", the girl replied.
"Jennifer, there's someone at the door for you, his name is...", the girl shouted.
"What's your name again?", she asked him.
"Nathaniel. Nthaniel Carter", he replied.
"A certain Nathaniel Carter", the girl shouted again.
"Yeah, let him in. I'll be there in a minute", Jennifer shouted from the apartment.
"You can come in. She'll be there soon so make yourself at home", the girl finally replied.
"Thanks", Nathaniel simply replied.
A few minutes later, Jennifer came out of the bedroom, she was wearing a long light pink sleeveless evening dress.
"Hey ! Sorry for making you wait", Jennifer said while greeting Nathaniel.
"No, it's okay. It was totally worth the wait", he replied.
"Jenni you are gorgeous", exclaimed the girl.
"Yeah, you are beautiful", Nathaniel said, unable to take his gaze from Jennifer.
"Oh ! Thank you", Jennifer replied, blushing.
"Nathaniel, let me introduce you to Lola my roomie", Jennifer then said while pointing at Lola.
"Nice to meet you Lola", Nathaniel replied.
"Yeah, nice to meet you too Nathaniel", Lola replied.
"I think we should go now otherwise we're gonna miss the opening", Jennifer said, then hurried to take her handbag.
"Yeah, let's go", Nathaniel replied, then Jennifer took his arm and finally they led to the door.
I gasped when I saw the Palisade hotel. It was very bright, there was also a red carpet at the entrance with a few journalists waiting there and then luxury cars arrived everywhere. Then a man in a black suit was checking our invitation at the entrance.
When I thought I had seen everything in the hotel lobby, well I was wrong, the rooftop was just amazing, very bright with a bar next door and there was also a table for the buffet, the guests were all raised around very nicely decorated tables all with glasses of champagne in hand, Ellie's mother was already there, Larry and who seems his boyfriend too and when he saw us, he then rushed to go into our direction with his boyfriend.
"Hey you two !", said Larry.
"Hi, you are both so handsome", replied Jennifer.
"Thank you, you are also beautiful", exclaimed Larry.
"But Nathaniel, tell me you aren't supposed to be with Ellie right now because she just texted me that she is downstairs right now", Larry asked curiously.
"And why should he be with Ms. Jefferson right now ?", asked Jennifer, confused.
I didn't have the time to answer Jennifer because suddenly a deafening silence reigned on the rooftop and everyone looked away towards the elevator. And she was there in her wonderful red dress, even though I have seen her before, I still found her breathtaking but what bothered me a little, what am I saying, what bothered me a lot was to see her in Gabriel's arms.
I don't know why but there is something really bothering me about this guy. When they stepped forward, everyone started whispering, I even heard the people behind us say :
"Wow, they really are a wonderful couple"
"This Gabriel is much better than Joshua Cadell who cheated her with her best friend Tess, right ?"
" Yeah, I totally agree "
"But tell me who knows this Joshua?" I asked Larry.
"Joshua Cadell is Ellie's ex-boyfriend, they stayed together for a super long time but then he cheated on her with her best friend Tess. Ellie was devastated after that and actually it happened 7 or 8 months ago. Since then, she has never seen or spoken to Joshua or Tess again "
"They were the favorite couple of rich people before but now I think it will be Ellie and Gabriel", said Jennifer.
"Yeah, they go pretty well together I have to admit", replied Larry.
Meanwhile,
"Gabriel, I wanted to say thank you for accompanying me here. I know I called you hastily but you came anyway so thank you", said Ellie, smiling to Gabriel.
"Please Ellie, you really don't need to thank me, you know. Remember that I'll always answer your call no matter what and I'll come for you", replied Gabriel, responding Ellie's smile with another smile. She then hugged him and they took glasses of champagne.
"Wow !! You are just so cute together", exclaimed Ellie's mother.
"Good evening too mom", Ellie while rolling her eyes.
"Yeah, I totally agree with Catherine", said Ellie's father.
"Father", said Ellie coldly and then took a sip of her glass of champagne.
"Ellie !!", exclaimed Helene, Ellie's elder sister.
"Oh! Helene. I'm so happy that you could come this time", Ellie said while hugging her.
"Yeah, I know I'm sorry my boo boo if I didn't come this morning for your presentation but at that moment I was already on the flight for Roswell. And I heard that you really did great with this presentation", said Helene.
"I know, I know and that's totally fine. The most important things is that you're here now", replied Ellie
" Nice to meet you Mr. Smith. Let me tell you that you've been my model since I was a young little boy", said Gabriel.
"Nice to meet you too Mr. Kaufmann right ?",
"Yes Sir", replied Gabriel politely.
"Did you see that Catherine, he called me sir", Ellie's father, Adam Smith, said laughing," I already feel that I like that guy. Come on follow me boy ", and then he left with Gabriel heading towards the bar.
"Sacred Adam, he will never change", said Ellie's mother, laughing too "I better follow them before they say crazy things to her, you know very well he never knew how to keep his tongue."
"Sooo...Gabriel Kaufmann, huh ?", Hélène said with a flirting tone.
"Yeah, I didn't have a partner for tonight so I called him but he's a good friend that's all", Ellie replied, looking away.
"Yeah ! Yeah! He's just a friend. I really believe in what you just said, you know", she replied.
But suddenly a voice, very familiar to Ellie, coming from behind her said: "you're just gorgeous tonight Ellie" and Ellie was like frozen at that time.
