Chapter 18 : The Party : Part II

Ellie and her sister Helene are quietly chatting when suddenly a female voice very familiar to Ellie that she thought she would never hear again said :"Good evening Ellie".

At that moment Ellie was frozen and she felt several emotions at the same time such as anger or even sadness but above all she felt an old wound reopen very slowly and old memories that she would like to forget were coming back to her little by little.

"I heard that your presentation was amazing. Congratulations for the launch of this brand new drug," the female voice said but once again Ellie was still frozen.

"What are you doing here ?", Helene then said coldly.

"Oh ! Good evening Helene! Long time no see you. I missed our girls' nights a lot", the female voice said.

"One more time, what are you doing here Tess ?", Helene said coldly.

In the meantime,

"Uhm, Larry isn't that Tess Michael over there chatting with Ellie and her sister over there ?" Jennifer asked curiously as she looked in the direction of Ellie's table.

"No, it's impossible Jennifer as I didn't invite her to this party," replied Larry, not letting his eyes go of his phone.

"No, I assure you I think it's really her, Tess Michael over there," Jennifer said again but this time pointning into Tess's direction.

"I already told you there's no way she's here as…", Larry said as he turned to look at Ellie's table but then didn't finish his sentence when he saw Tess.

"Oh! Sweet J * sus! What is she doing here ?" Larry said in a panic.

"I don't have time to find out anyway. I have to get Ellie out of here ASAP," he finally said and then rushed over to Ellie.

"Ellie, honey, let's go outside for a moment, will you ? There is like an unwanted presence here" Larry said while looking at Tess and then he dragged Ellie quickly to the elevator. But to their surprise another person that Ellie finds unwanted walked straight out of the elevator and again Ellie is speechless as Larry said : "Oh ! Sh*t"

"Good evening Ellie ! Good to see you again", a male voice said.

At that moment all I felt was anger. I was so angry to see him here and her too that I couldn't control myself so I slapped him. And then everyone stopped talking and all looked in our direction . I could feel that everyone's eyes were on me but I didn't care all I wanted was to get out of here, so did I. I ran as fast as I can to the elevator tears flowing slowly from my eyes but it wasn't easy with 12 cm high heels so I tripped and tore a part of my dress and even scratched my knees but at that moment I didn't feel the pain yet. I got up quickly without looking back and went to the elevator.

"Ellie ! Wait ! ", Larry shouted in the meantime.

Nathaniel, who didn't know what was going on and who this man Ellie had slapped was, rushed to help Ellie and then went to the elevator to catch Ellie up. Everyone during this time was still in shock from what had just happened that no one said anything.

In the elevator,

"Ellie ?! Are... Are you alright ?", Nathaniel asked, stuttering.

"Do I look like I'm alright there ?", Ellie shouted.

"Uh... Yeah... You're right. Sorry", Nathaniel said.

"Ouch", Ellie said when she finally felt the pain in here knee.

"You grazed your knee when you fell earlier", Nathaniel said as he leaned down to look at Ellie's knee. He then took the handkerchief from his pocket to cover the wound.

"Thank you", Ellie finally said.

Once in the parking lot, Nathaniel put Ellie's arm around her neck to help her walk to her car and they drove home.

In the meantime in the rooftop,

Helene and Larry sent everyone home after Ellie left, only them, Tess and Joshua and Ellie's parents were left on the rooftop.

"You traitors !! How dare you show up here after what you did to my sister ?", Helene shouted at Tess and Joshua, the man who walked straight out of the elevator.

"And you Larry, how could you invite these two here after what they did to Ellie ?", Helene shouted at Larry.

"I swear it Helene that I didn't invite them. I would never have done that to Ellie", Larry replied.

"What is happening right now ?", asked Catherine, Ellie's mother and then said : "I invited Tess as she is Ellie's best friend but I couldn't guess that she would come with Joshua".

"Oh ! Mom ?! What have youd done again ?", Helene said.

"Helene, honey, can you explain me what is happening right now ?", asked Adam, Ellie's father.

"It happens that mom here present invited Ellie's ex-best friend Tess who brought Joshua with her, Ellie's ex-boyfriend who cheated on her with Tess, here present. And now Ellie's gone, I don't know where", Helene replied angrily.

"Ah ! I get it now. Oh, no ! What have you done Catherine ?", replied Ellie's father.

"I was trying to reconcile Ellie and Tess. It's been a while now that they've been mad at each other", Catherine replied, trying to justify hher actions.

"But it's not for you to decide that mom. It's up to Ellie alone to decide if she wants to reconcile with this traitor or not", Helene shouted.

"Your mother is right Helene. I missed Ellie a lot and I would really like us to be reconciled, you know", Tess said sadly.

"You ! Shu* the h*ll up ! Nobody asked you", Helene said angrily.

"Helene ?! Calm down !", Adam said.

"Yeah, just calm down honey !", Catherine said.

"Calm down ? At least do you know mother what Ellie went through when she found out that her best friend ever slept with her beloved boyfriend and their affair lasted for months, huh ?", Helene asked furiously.

"She stopped eating and drinking for days, she cried almost every day. She was completely destroyed and Larry and I had to pick her up little by little with a spoon, mom while you were busy running your big business. So excuse-me if I can't calm down right now", Helene then said angrily.

"But I didn't know any of that you know Helene. Ellie never told me any of that", Catherine said sadly.

"She never told you that as you never once asked her how she was after that. You only talked to her about work and still about work again, believing that you don't know how to do anything other than talk about work", Helene said angrily to her mother.

"And now you two. Get out of here immediately !!! You've hurt my sister enough like that", Helene shouted, while pointing at Tess and Joshua.
