In a wide plane field covered in grass with the morning sun beaming down on it and many birds flying children chirping, you can see two children around the age of 6, walking down a path. This was Steven and Bai Feng and they have been walking for almost an hour, resting for some time, before continuing. None of them spoke, as Steven obviously couldn't speak and Bai Feng felt that she shouldn't bother her brother.
As they were walking, Bai Feng felt that it wasn't right to just leave her brother alone and quickly caught up to Steven walking in front of her and proceeded to ask, "Brothers Steven, are you all right?"
Looking at her, Steven just nodded and continued, multiple thoughts going through his brain.
'Yeah, the name Steven doesn't fit this world. I thank the Gods for giving me the same name as my past life, but it just doesn't fit right with me. I need a different name, a Chinese name. But what should it be.' Steven thought, biting his thumb fingernails, a habit he always had which happens when he thinks.
Racking his brain, Steven remembered one of the Novels he wrote back on Earth. It was about a guy who reincarnated into a Cultivation world and proceeded to reach the top, everyone in his path becoming his stepping stone, even his wife and children. That novel was a self-insert but now he can do all those things so he decided to take the name he gave that Main Character.
'Wang Wei Feng. Wang means King or Monarch while Wei means power, high, and extraordinary. A name truly fitting for me.' Steven, now known as Wang Wie said, smiling.
Suddenly stopping he bent down, picking up a stick on the road, and writing down his new name in Han characters on the sandy road.
"Whose name is that?" Bai Feng said, looking over Wang Wei to look at the character he wrote on the ground.
{My new name} He wrote beside the name.
"Why? I liked your old name, brother." Bai Fend said, looking at Wang Wei who stood up and started erasing what he wrote with his foot.
[Wang Wei is a great name.] Steven wrote on the ground with the stick he was holding as he started walking.
As they walked in silence, Wang Wei kept using the stick he was holding to hit the grass at the edge of the road. A hissing noise suddenly sounded, causing him to stop in his track. In front of him was a green snake, more than 20 inches long.

[Rings ability obtainable: Poison Effect]
'The first spirit beast I encountered. Seems pretty weak and the system can also show the stat of the spirit beast. Do the ring can give me a poison effect, so if I absorb it, will I gain poison damage over time in my pen, or will my pen give poison effect after I stab it in someone.' Wang Wei thought, looking at the snake slithering toward them as he activated his Saṃsāra Eye, the snake movement slowing down.
"What a big snake." Bai Feng muttered, "I never knew snake can grow this big."
'Why is it just looking at me-'
Suddenly, the snake pounced toward Wang Wei at a lightning-fast speed, bearing its fangs at him. Luckily, he was able to dodge it by a hair breath thanks to him noticing it ahead of time due to the time-slowing effect of the Saṃsāra Eye.
'Stupid snake. Why did you suddenly use quick attack!' Wang Wei thought, bringing out his Samsara Pen and moving further away. {We need to kill this thing} He wrote in the air, Bai Feng reading it and getting ready.
She brought out her Ashura Blades and quickly slashed at the snake which nimble dodged the attack, counter-attacking it with a quick attack. Bai Feng managed to dodge the attack due to Wang Wei pulling her by the back of her shirt.
"Thanks, brother, it almost bit my arm." Bai Feng said, facing the snake with her second once more.
'Looking at your soft scales and your green color to blend into the grass, I can guess that you only hunt with assassination using your speed and poison.' Wang Wei thought, grinning widely. 'What will you do when I take away your speed, punk?'
Raising his pen, he activates slow. The pen glowed brown as he felt some energy stir within him, moving into the pen. A brown aura suddenly surrounded the snake and Wang Wei could already see the snake moving slower than it normally moved.
'Max stack of slow.' Almost all the energy within him flowed into the pen, causing him to become out of breath.
"Brother, are you ok?" Bai Feng said, looking over to Wang Wei who was struggling to stay standing due to dizziness.
Wang Wei pointed at the snake, which was now slithering slower than a snail. This debuff only lasts 7 seconds and if they don't kill it soon, he won't be able to cast all 9 stacks of slow again. Bai Feng understood that he was gesturing for her to attack the snake but hesitated, fearing that it will bite her.
Seeing this, Wang Wei quickly went behind the snake and used his pen to stab the snake multiple times, killing it. A yellow ring slowly floated up, showing that it was dead.
'This pen is a good weapon.' Wang Wei said, sighing as he fell on his butt, tired.
"I-I am sorry brother. I thought it will bite me...' Bai Feng said with a sorry tone, now understanding why her brother told her to attack it.
Wang Wei looked over to her and smiled, giving her a thumbs-up, Bai Feng smiling brightly at this. 'It isn't her fault, she is still a child after all.' He thought looking away from her, the smile instantly disappearing from his face. 'But that isn't an excuse. Seeing as I am a support, I will need a damage dealer close to me at all times and Bai Feng is the best choice, for now at least. I need to train her to listen to me no matter my demand. Can't have an accident like this happening again.'
"So this is a spirit ring, huh. It so beautiful." Bai Feng said, looking at the yellow ring floating above its body.
'It sure is.' Wang Wei thought, reaching to touch the ring.

'Another effect of the system which shows how well the ring will work with my martial spirit... This is going to be useful.' Wang Wei thought, looking over to Bai Feng looking at the ring with glittering eyes. 'It will be good for her sword, giving it poisoning effect, but... We should only absorb rings above 1 thousand years. Though this one was hard to kill, if we work with our synergy more, I am confident we would kill a thousand years old spirit beast.'
Standing up, Wang Wei patted her head, causing her to look up at him. He gestured for them to keep moving while deactivating the Saṃsāra eye and pen, seeing as they both consume spirit energy as long as they are activated.
"So we are not going to absorb it?" She asked, standing up and fixing her shirt.
'No. This is too low level for us.' Wang Wei thought, shaking his head as he started walking.
"Too bad." Bai Feng said, following Wang Wei. "So, what happened when we absorb it?"
