(A/N: Hey guys, Raw Novel Community | Dark Novels is providing me with a server that I don't need to micromanage. Taking a break from all the scheming and planning, a slice of life chapter below… I think I'm not very accurate about this stuff… even though I write it. Meh. Hope you enjoy it! The links above can be found in the summary as well.)
As I left my office, I made my way down the streets of Konoha, the people greeting me and bowing in respect whenever I came into sight. Walking around the village made people aware that I wasn't just a name on a piece of paper.
Jiraya was getting more and more out of control. I didn't have any delusions that he wasn't investigating me, he probably was tracking any suspicious movements while trying to find a connection back to me. It wasn't rational, but it was expected given our situation. I wasn't a suitable Hokage in his eyes. Talk about irrational. Nevertheless, he was becoming a thorn that I would have to navigate so it doesn't find its way to me.
I had demolished most of the Senju properties in the village under different pretenses, placed people to 'inform' his informants of my apparent disapproval of the Senju. It was easy to believe given my lineage and a very long road to follow that would lead to a dead end. By the time he came back from that lead, I would have plenty more to cover whatever time was left. There was no guarantee that it wouldn't lead him into the right road by mistake, everything was possible, but I had confidence in the original's contingencies.
------------------------------
Walking down the streets of Konoha was always eventful, though I could always tell who I was going to run into, it always surprised me how many options there were. If I walked to the left, I would meet Kakashi and Guy, the latter challenging the former to some kind of duel and Kakashi trying his best… or not trying at all but naturally ignoring him.
It was a powder keg of YOUTH that I refused to go near.
Turning to the right I would meet Naruto and Sakura, who were aimlessly walking down the street and being stared at by at least 20 civilians. The boy looked carefree, and probably the route of less resistance.
This was so far the best option.
Going forward would lead me to meet a wall…. Yes, it was a wall. Nothing else. Just a wall…. If you want me to be more specific, it was white… so a white wall with some nicely decorated tiles on top, showing some wear and tear but still holding up quite nicely and pleasing to the eye. Your average Japanese Edo period type of wall.
(A/N: Described the shit out of that wall, couldn't stop once I started. XD)
And if I turned back now I would encounter Asuma and his crush Kurenai, the former fumbling his words here and there and the latter being oblivious to it. It was kind of pathetic to watch, and even more so to hear, so I decided to go with option number 2, the least annoying one.
Walking towards the simple-minded one and the currently useless one, I made note that I could always avoid all of them, but sadly I had run out of duties to perform as the Hokage. The original had other clones doing the training, studying, and researching. Probably a ton more doing who knows what, so I might as well spend some time socializing. Bet you he didn't have clones developing interacting and socializing... did he?
As I was thinking, Naruto saw and greeted me…
"Kei-san, hello!" – Naruto said as he waved his hand and grinned, not noticing a fist heading straight for his head.
*BANG* - was heard… Naruto's IQ decreasing once again due to excessive violence.
"Naruto, show respect when speaking to the Hokage! I'm sorry Hokage-sama." – Well she was sensible if anything.
"Hello to you too, Naruto, Sakura. How are you doing?" – I greeted as I asked and smiled back lightly, my mind trying to figure out how a punch could make that noise when connecting with Naruto's head.
As Naruto raised his head, looking into my eyes, memories came flooding back as he dropped his head back down, probably remembering how he couldn't stop Sasuke from leaving. Looking at Naruto Sakura also became depressed, making the mood fall drastically.
As I looked at them, an idea on how to have some fun and pass time until my next stack of paperwork arrived popped into my head.
"Don't worry, Sasuke will be back." – I said as I kept my smile up and placed my hands on their heads.
Technically I was more than 70'000 years old, all my meals combined. Not treating them like infants was already good enough… Hmmm… infant… infantry. I see, we send the young to die so the old can sit on their wrinkly asses and profit.
As my thought process started drifting to anything remotely interesting, I pushed it aside as Naruto got my attention once more.
"Do you really think so?" – He asked with hopeful eyes.
"Of course, or are you telling me you're going to give up on dragging him back here?" – I laughed a little as I asked.
That seemed to bring him back in the mood as he spoke.
"Never, I'm going to get him back in the village. You better believe it!" – Naruto said as he grinned.
Sakura watched Naruto from the side as she smiled and I withdrew my hands.
"Now that you seem better, how about a prank? What do you say, Naruto?" – I asked as I grinned.
Naruto looked at me surprised for a moment as he grinned back. Sakura was the first to speak though.
"Hokage-sama, are you sure this is appropriate?"
"Don't worry, I'm the Hokage, and from what Sasuke has told me… you never discovered what was under Kakashi's mask did you?"
"Are you going to tell us?" – Naruto ask immediately as he almost jumped from his spot as Sakura leaned in immediately.
I grinned at both of them.
"Better yet, I am going to show you."
As I leaned in, I spoke to both of them as their eyes shined and my grin widened.
While my dear little brother wasn't here, I would have to get closer to our main character. Make sure that Jiraya didn't put any weird ideas on his head. With how 99% of this village acted… it was going to be a piece of cake.
------------------------------
(3rd Person POV)
Kakashi had just shaken off Guy, opening his book to continue reading, he heard a voice from behind.
"Ka~ka~shi." – He heard as a chill rose up against his back.
Turning around Kakashi saw three figures. The Hokage, Naruto, and Sakura, all of them smiling mysteriously at him.
"~Hello!~" – The Hokage said melodiously as his smile widened and Kakashi felt his body tremble.
