Kimberly was convinced. Mom began telling her stories of aunt Muriel and how much fun I was having living together with her in New York.
Both chit-chatted about lots of stuff while they made macarons, and with Sophie occasionally helping out by taking few macarons when they weren't looking or were too into their chitchat.
Kimberly became closer to my family in my absence, she would check on them at least once a week, Sophie became fund of her such that she throws a little tantrum when Kim doesn't show up.
No one heard from Aubree Smith the moment she knew Keith had died, not a condolence message or a visit, she vanished into thin air.
It's been two years since I left my family, a lot had changed. Two years ago when I painted a picture of Kimberly it was beautiful, and it took me five minutes. Now I rarely paint, often I sketch and in less than a minute I could give a detailed drawing of a city, painting it would take me a little over a minute.
My last sketch of Bangkok city showed plate numbers of vehicles and detailed activities of people who wouldn't be there until three days' time. With every passing week I felt the power of information surge through me.
With my increased ability and klahans ability to enhance the abilities of Tunde and Reyansh we took over NASA, we took over the minds of more than half the worlds military force, I could say we literally took over the world from the mansion in Thailand. Klahan and his followers possessed extraordinary mind control abilities. We became fully prepared for a war we knew we would not win.
"Why do we even put up this fight?" I was frustrated with myself and anger could be seeing in my eyes.
Everyone's face was bowed in defeat, they were avoiding my gaze, all except Klahan. I had become sort of the second in command, not sure if it was because my abilities enhanced greatly, or because non of their abilities was effective on me.
"No future is uncertain and no past truly certain" Klahan said. There were no more creepy smiles since two months ago.
"That's what you keep saying even after my detailed sketch two months ago of our inevitable defeat. They'll storm Alaska and all those giant trees would become portals bringing several numbers of them, they'll invade all seven continents of the world turning giant trees of thick forests into portals, we all perished klahan even me who was supposed to save humanity I lay dead somewhere I don't even know."
My tears began falling, even with my unique ability I felt so helpless. "we'll fight with everything we've got even if our defeat is inevitable we won't be going down without a fight."
"There won't be a fight Klahan, only a massacre, not even one Asahignomian was killed." I walked out of the meeting with those last words.
That night I called my parents, I hadn't spoken to them in the last two months, the sound of their voices made me happy Sophie's voice changed a lot in the past year she sounded so grown, I wanted to tell them they'll all die without pain in less than a second, that the world was coming to an end, but all I could bring myself to say was that I love them and I'll be home pretty soon.
Mom and dad ended our conversation with the usual "we are always proud of you. You're a hero and you'll save the world."
The inevitable began happening, Asahignomians arrived earth in full force and overwhelming numbers, we fought them with fire arms, nukes, and all. Nothing worked on them, they took our lives with ease. Just one Asahignomian could claim thousands of lives just by gesturing their hands sideways.
It felt like I could hear the world dying away, klahan placed me in one of the rooms in the mansion so that King Vonel couldn't get to me. I was certain that room was where my death would take place.
I just couldn't stay there and do nothing so I got my book and pen then went out when I began hearing troubled voices, I hid behind a solid wall and peeked.
King Vonel and the commander of Asahignomian army Krioss, rounded up Klahan and his followers I saw Tunde and Reyansh lifeless body on the floor.
"Where is he?" Vonel voice thundered
"He's not here." Klahan manage to say with a choking voice.
Krioss hands were gestured sideways slowly choking life out of klahan and his followers, and waiting for King Vonel's order to finish them off.
Vonel laughed out loud.
"See what has become of my father's loyal advisers, you traitors came to earth to help that kid bring an end to my reign, you've failed, the old man wouldn't die so I killed him myself it was my turn to be king. I did nothing but take what was mine."
"The Boy is just around my king I can sense his life force." Krioss said.
I began running as fast as I could when I heard Krioss said he could sense my life force.
The king gave the signal. Klahan and his followers died on the spot.
"look for the kid. kill him the moment you find him." Krioss nodded and began coming for me.
I thought about Klahans words while I ran, even though he knew we would be defeated he kept saying those words to me, something about the future not being uncertain and past never truly certain, it occurred to me that I had never painted the past, the only past I could think of at the moment was the day this whole thing began, the day we went on that road trip.
I got my pen and began sketching. I drew myself laying on my bed back home in Houston as I began remembering the night before Keith woke me up for the road trip. Krioss suddenly appeared before me, my vision became blurred and he began fading away the moment he gestured his hand to finish me off.
"Aidan! Aidan! Are you having a nightmare? Your feet is so cold and for a moment there I thought you were dead cos you weren't breathing.
Keith's voice was unmistakable, my eyes slowly began opening, "It worked!" I yelled as I hugged Keith tightly.
"what worked?" Keith asked as he laughed, amused by my sudden burst of excitement.
"Let's go on that road trip, Aubree and I are good now."
"I ignored Keith. I quickly got a pen and a note book, I drew the planet Asahignom and returned the powers given to every individual back to the light ring, then I sunk the light ring in the Mediterranean sea.
I drew the earth and placed impenetrable barriers around it.
Keith was shocked "Where did you learn to draw this good?"
"I've always known how to draw".
"Wow! It looks so real and amazing, I'm pretty sure I've never seen you draw before, but stuff like this could sell for top dollar.
"It sure could" I said, as we headed out of my room.
"Let's hit the road cap, it's going to be a fun road trip, you ready?"
"Hell yah!." Keith replied with a smile that was almost as creepy as Klahan's.
