CHAPTER ELEVEN

My 19th birthday was a very memorable one.  First because I was with my family, the smile on their faces gave me joy that knew no bounds.  Mom and dad talking and smiling as though they were young lovers, Keith and Aubree holding hands while they headed upstairs. Sophie's eyes glued to the television while she munched on the cake like her life depended on it.

Aubree and I smiling, obviously more in love than ever before as we headed for the backyard. A second reason for it been memorable was because I was about to be abducted by aliens.

It's being two years since we won against Asahignom.

Two years of peace, two years since I lost my abilities to paint the future or the past. The accident that changed my life never happened, Keith never died and life had been going smoothly since the day I changed the past, an act I would later learn made me the most wanted human in the universe.

Tunde and Reyansh never existed, there were no data on them. My dad never had any doctor friend, much less one who was the best surgeon and went by the name Liam Hernandez. I had wiped out the existence of an unknown number of people. Though I saved the entire world it felt a little like I only saved my family.

After my birthday celebration, Kimberly and I decided to have some time alone, we talked about how the years had gone by and how our love had grown, we kissed  passionately and resumed watching the starry heavens from my backyard.

The bright blue light seemed to have appeared from nowhere blinding Kimberly and me on the Spot, the language they spoke was foreign.

My sense of hearing was sharpened absent my sense of sight. I could tell there were two of them, one began approaching me, he must have switched on some sort of translation device due to the screeching sound of something on him, he now spoke in an awkward kind of English.

"Come with me or we kill it." I assumed he was talking about Kimberly.

"I'll come with you please do not hurt her."

"Good." He said as he drew closer to me.

He spoke the foreign language to his partner.

Another blue light hit, this one much more intense than the first, I felt his hand on my head and lost consciousness immediately.

" I heard they made you second in command, how does it feel working side by side with your rival?" Zotem asked with a friendly smile upon her cheek.

" She's not my rival anymore Zotem we are no longer kids, we are mature women now and we share the same goal and purpose but I must admit it feels really odd working side by side."

Both women laughed out loud, Frizray began gearing up for her training.

Zotem took her position and Frizray joined her shortly.

The planet was Varqua, sector 276 Greybond, the strongest of all sectors and home to the most powerful Varquan and his two daughters. King Dorim was extremly powerful and his enormous power had a lot to do with his Yinkel.

In Varqua their ability and strength comes from their yinkel, each individual has  one, a person's yinkel is considered powerful when he or she is the only one possessing that yinkel color, the most common yinkel in Varqua are of the colors grey and red at least  80% of people there maintained either a grey or a red yinkel.

A yinkel color never changes, an individual is either born with it or acquires it while growing up.

The word yinkel in human terms could simply be defined as aura or chi.  Varquans looked like humans physically but there could never be compared to us, they were way stronger and had powers a human could only dream of, they die naturally at the age of 800 or 900 human years, they never get old they stop aging the moment they become adults.

A Varquan would fight normally at first, using their physical strength. However if the battle intensified they will syntize and become one with their yinkel, increased speed, strength and dexterity.

Varquans with grey or red yinkel are referred to as norms, implying that they were normal if a norm challenged a non norm the battle often ends in less than a minute with the norm fatally injured or in most cases dead.

King Dorim and his first daughter Brika are the only individuals whose yinkel color were unique, no other individual in Varqua had the yinkel colors most feared and revered. King Dorim's Yinkel was known as the "black death" and Brika's yinkel the "blue demon" Dorim's second daughter Frizray had a powerful yinkel the "yellow flame" there were at least three of them in Varqua whose yinkel color was the yellow flame, but only two were alive, Frizray and her trainer Zotem.

The "war green" yinkel color was also considered powerful, most who possessed the war green yinkel were combatants fighting to maintain peace and balance in Varqua, there were some combatants though with a red yinkel but they weren't as strong as the war green. The grey yinkel was the most common they were mostly regular people and not  fit to be combatants.

"I'm so proud of you" Zotem said as their training intensified.

"You haven't syntized yet but your speed is already in great form."

"Maybe that's because you've become too slow, perhaps you've lost your touch."  Frizray teased.

"Perhaps I have" Zotem teased back, she quickly syntized, becoming one with her yinkel and launched a counter airstrike, Frizray evaded the attack.

"You still haven't syntized, I've always known you were the strongest if we Varquans  didn't have the ability to syntize, you're just like your mother, but you can't evade this next attack if you don't syntize."

Frizray smiled she knew Zotem's next attack was one of her deadly signature moves, one time she tried evading it in her non syntize state and  almost died. Frizray syntized, evaded the attack, and their battle continued. From afar it could be seen as two streaks of yellow light battling each other with remarkable speed.

Zotem was once feared and revered by all especially the two girls whom she trained, she was the commander of the kings army, had thousands of combatants under her control, her sister Rydia was the former commander, she was beautiful and lovely but had died in a battle with a planet named Guilsengon when the girls were little.

The King made Zotem the new commander and also trainer of his little daughters who had not yet manifested their yinkel, they weren't born with it like he was.

Hundreds of years ago still felt like yesterday Zotem thought, as the battle with her niece raged on.

Zotem used another signature move, Frizray deflected and countered with one of her own. "flame roar " a move she makes when she wants to corner or distract her enemy. Zotem tried deflecting but got a scratch. Flame roar was known for its speed plus there was no telling its actual direction it could split in two when you least expect it would.

The teacher had being impressed with the student for years now, though Frizray had no idea this battle would mark the end of her training.

Zotem made her last and  final move, "Flame slash"  the move was not as fast as the flame roar but it was deadlier on impact, Frizray  evaded the attack but it sent her real body flying meters away from Zotem.

"You used your flame mirage as a defense to evade my attack?"

There was no time for an answer, Frizray's next move was sharp, precise and quick.

The "flame mirage" used as an  offense this time.  She created hundreds of illusionary images of herself attacking Zotem  simultaneously, only one was real, the battle ended with that move. After waving off all Frizray mirages, the real one held a weapon behind Zotems head.

"I win again." Frizray said as she smiled and put down her weapon.

"I didn't  see that one coming, you never used the flame mirage as a defense, it was always an offense move, I'm impressed not bad at all for the second in command."

"Thanks Zotem, your flame slash is ever powerful and fatal. It could have blown me to bits  if I hadn't thought of using flame mirage as defense."

Frizray began taking off her training gear while her teacher did the same.

"I've got nothing else to teach you Friz, you've learnt everything , you've grown into a remarkable woman from the little girl I was once trying to teach how to take a fighting stance."

"But I still feel like you could teach me so much more Zotem, is this because I'm  now second in command?"

"No Frizray this has nothing to do with you becoming second in command, you are now a fighter even better than your mom, she would have been very proud of you."

Frizray smiled, just as she was about to reply, a combatant rushed to the scene with information that the commander and the king were having an urgent meeting and Frizray's presence was required.
