"Rebecca!" I turned to the appalled owner of the voice, of course, it was Mother. I set down the sword on the ground and kicked it away from me as soon as she came in. I broke the first rule of resting- picking up a blade since I was still 'injured'.
It's been two weeks since I first went to the witch, and I've made a huge improvement, one that the doctors don't know how it was possible.
"Mother, I can't waste any time, I- I was just testing my grip." I stuttered as she walked toward me while kicking the blade further away from me. She wore a dark blue gown that was accented with gold jewelry on her wrists and neck. Her hair pulled up into a bun, showing her sharp cheekbones.
"You're not supposed to pick up a blade for another week. So why are you going against our orders?" She inquired while reaching for my wrist, I pulled back from her touch and looked into her blue eyes, which were bright with anger.
"The therapist said I could, she said don't do any heavy lifting, but I could train lightly." I breathed out, as she took another step toward me. This wasn't the first time I've done this behind her back, however, it was the first time being caught.
"You should've asked permission, before rushing to this room." She took in a deep breath before turning around, to face my father who walked in. He wore his normal suit but today he looked more dressed up for a certain meeting.
"Eleanor," Ryan spoke aloud looking between his furious wife and his child, who looked back at the disregarded sword on the ground, with a frown evident on her face. "What is going on?"
"Father, I was just practicing basic steps, and Mother came in and yelled at me." I looked into his brown eyes as they creased, showing he was slightly confused.
"I'm worried about her, and I was scared as she held the sword. She is not in the condition too." Mother looked at the duke, and he just let out a deep sigh, "She should have asked permission, before walking into this room." My mother's voice echoed in the room, and suddenly I couldn't see, hear, or touch anything, I was just standing in a dark void.
"Huh?" I reached out with my hands, trying to find anything that would help, but then I was suddenly in a grand temple, my sight and hearing came back, as well as my touch. I looked around from where I was standing and noticed there was a meeting, and two people sat on the perched platform, listening to some people. Rulers.
Turning around quickly, I bumped into an older person, he turned around and glared at me. Reeling back taken aback by the glare, I grabbed a post to balance myself and studied the man. This man was in his later years, with his brilliant white hair, that was draped down to his waist, and a beard that was perfectly cut to a point.
"I'm sorry," I muttered an apology. He continued to stare at me, and I looked down to see what I was wearing, and I stood in heavy layers of robes of traditional clothing, all bright colors of coral, oranges, teals, and pinks. His eyes changed from brown to crimson, as he shifted on his feet.
"How did you get here, Child?" I recognized the voice, from past dreams, it was the calm and soothing voice of the eldest dragon. I looked at him with confusion writing on my face. 'What was he doing here? What am I doing here?' Before I could speak, he shook his head and waved his hand, indicating that I should follow him.
Walking down huge corridors, I waited until we were in a spacious room before I turned to the great divine beast. "What is happening?" I asked, remembering suddenly that I was in the middle of arguing with mother, telling her I was fine, 'this couldn't have happened at the most worse time.' I thought glumly to myself.
"Child, I don't know how you came here, but it is not without meaning." He took a seat on a cushion indicating to the one in front of him. The cushion looked far more comfortable than standing in these heavy robes, besides I took a seat out of respect for the Dragon.
"That doesn't answer my question, however, what could it mean that I'm brought here in the past?" I questioned and he continued to watch me carefully, fidgeting with the extra loose sleeve on the robe, I looked away from those probing eyes.
"There seem to be far more dangers around you than you expect." I looked up at him, as he pursed his lips, thinking of what to say next. "However, these dangers will lead you closer to your unanswered questions it seems on will happen very soon." I knitted my brows together, thinking that this dragon has lost his mind, thinking this was a good thing.
"Great Divine, what could these dangers be?" I asked aloud, and he just shook his head, telling me that this information couldn't be known.
"I'm sorry, Child, but I'm afraid you have to suffer through these dangers, to understand more about the world." It took me everything not to speak to him in an angered voice, I gritted my teeth, as I listened to his statement.
"I'm tired of suffering." I mumbled and the dragon looked at me with tender eyes, "I just faced a danger, because someone thinks I'm a threat. What must I do to avoid these problems?" I asked and a tear dropped onto the back of my hand, reaching up to my eyes, I noticed a couple more were waiting to spill.
"There is nothing that you can do, 'to avoid these problems,' but just let them change the person you are. We learn from these." He raised his hand and grabbed a tear that was slowly flowing down my cheek.
"All I wanted to do, was just learn how to defend my country and people, but now I have had people wanting to harm me. I don't want to die early." I let the last sentence echo in our ears, and the dragon's eyes lit up, in slight anger as well as annoyance.
"For all the studying you did about our race, you surely don't understand that once we communicate to a human, they're protected constantly." I stood up and gave him a puzzled look. Those few humans that were treasured by the dragons, were indeed protected, and that was a huge honor.
"I don't want to risk the life I'm living. So tell me, if I can avoid any dangers that might harm me." I looked down at the seated dragon, and he let out a deep sigh. I noticed the room losing its color and its shape, everything was slowly dispersing.
"Fate is such a strong thing, very unpredictable, however something we can't fight." He looked around the room, and chuckled lightly, "It seems our time is coming to an end, little one." Everything turned blurry, and he gave a finally departing smile, then I was sucked back into the black void.
I gasped while opening my eyes wide in shock. I looked around, taking notice that I was on the ground, and could still hear Mother and Father bickering. I turned my head, to see both of their eyes watching me closely confused by my reaction. Mother stepped forward and helped me stand up again, brushing the dust off the front of my dress.
"What happened?" I asked, trying to remember how I got on the ground, Mother looked at me with wide eyes then turned to the duke.
"This is what I'm worried about, exhaustion is causing her slight memory loss. She should be resting, not swinging swords." She grumbled, and right before she could take me out of the arena, Father gently took her hands off of me.
"Eleanor, can't you see that she is shaken up by something." I looked down at my shaking hands, and widen my eyes. She just narrowed her eyes at me, before letting out a frustrated sigh.
"Ryan, I want her in bed by the time I get back from the committee meeting." She commanded as a duchess and then left me alone with my father, who looked back at me with worried eyes.
"How long was I on the ground?" I asked and he shook his head, concerned.
"You fell to the ground, and then suddenly gasped as if you were underwater within ten minutes of our conversation. Why?" I rubbed my face in shock, it made sense that our conversation took time, but it felt longer in the past.
"Father, when is Elias coming over?" I asked while gripping a bundle of my long sleeve shirt. He let out a sigh, a deep one that instantly caught my attention.
"Elias is busy with making minor plans for our foreign guests that are coming within a week." I widen my eyes in disbelief, he was the only one I could confide with, about this problem.
I nodded my head, then turned around and walked to my room. Entering the foyer, I grabbed a cookie off the table and walked up the stairway to my room. Once I was in the room, I hopped onto the bed, following Mother's order.
