Differentiation?

Li Jin picked up the unconscious Fang Bai and placed him on the nearby king-sized bed. He quickly picked up the glass of water on the bedside and sprinkled some drops of water on the unconscious youth.

Fang Bai's eyes remained tightly closed, as if he was knocked out by some drugs.

'Why did Fang Bai suddenly faint? I hope it isn't serious.' Li Jin was alarmed on the inside; he tried his best to be calm and analyze the situation rationally. He constantly shook Fang Bai, patted his face, rubbed his hands and feet, attempting to wake him up. He also checked the breath and heart rate and found that it was perfectly normal. Fang Bai's body also showed no signs of poisoning.

What had happened?

The most fearful thing about this situation was uncertainty. Li Jin was hesitant, but he could not stop his mind from bringing the thought up.

Was this… mutation? Will Fang Bai remain human, or will he turn into a zombie?

Li Jin shook his head and tried to look at the situation optimistically. He must show Fang Bai to a doctor, but finding a doctor in this situation was very very risky.

According to his previous life, he passed out from exhaustion at eight or nine pm at night, and woke up to the sound of zombies near midnight. There were barely three or four hours in between.

If he took Fang Bai to a hospital it would definitely take a longer time in the treatment. And he could not be sure if he could protect Fang Bai if the situation turns chaotic.

His body had internal injuries, he had lost his abilities, his power veins were broken. He was good at fighting, but the state of his body was not good at all.

He needed to look for other options. Maybe he should ask others if they knew what happened to Fang Bai. The bodyguards must definitely have some medical knowledge.

'Wait, why hasn't anyone arrived even after listening to the sound? It had been so long.'

Li Jin clearly remembered that he heard the sound of other windows being opened from other rooms. And the sound of the asteroid blasting was too loud. It was not an understatement to say that the whole city must have heard it. So why didn't anyone come here even after the commotion of him banging the doors and even barging in?

Li Jin walked out of the room and looked around the villa confusedly. He went and knocked on the nearby Duan Wei and Tang Rong's room and got no response. Having a strong hunch, he opened the door and was stunned to see the situation in front of him.

A half-naked Tang Rong in a bathrobe laid unconscious at the door of the bathroom. His right hand was still stretched in one direction showing his urgent rush before he fainted. His eyebrows were creased and his lips were pursed indicating agitation.

Li Jin's heart thudded when he saw the familiar face in such distress. Those sharp black eyes, the solemn face, those long black hair with beautiful blue ends, flashed in front of his eyes. The man who took care of him when he was unwell, who protected him from the zombie, the person who carefully cradled his head and massaged it to ease his headache…

Li Jin carefully walked to the man and checked his vitals. His situation was very similar to Fang Bai's. Li Jin tried his best to pick the fainted up and place him on the bed. Tang Rong was taller than him and much more muscular than him, which made the task quite difficult. Carefully making the person lie on the bed, he took a last look at him and walked in the direction where his hand was previously pointing.

Walking a few steps in the direction, there lay Duan Wei, also knocked out just like Fang Bai, beside the open window.

Li Jin was bewildered.

He picked up Duan Wei too and placed him side by side on the bed with Tang Rong. Carrying Duan Wei was a much difficult task as the person was really well built and heavy because of the muscles. He still tried to be careful considering Duan Wei was the friendliest person he had ever met. He often started conversations with him to make him feel comfortable, and Li Jin really liked it when the young man cracked various jokes in front of him to amuse him. More than that, the first person to stand up for him ever in his life was Duan Wei. So the young man was quite special to him.

After making sure that the two youths were also knocked out like Fang Bai, Li Jin was now sure that the other people in the villa were also in a similar situation like this.

He walked around the whole villa and similarly found everyone fallen and unconscious in different places. They seemed to be totally unaware of any suspicious thing and had fallen down in the process of doing their normal activities. He had to carry everyone back to their beds, which made him really tired. Thankfully the girls were either on the bed, or sitting on a chair, so he was saved from watching them in embarrassing situations like the guys.

'What the hell is happening?!' This thing had never happened in his previous life. Or maybe it did happen? 'Was my sleep during this time in the previous life really out of some exhaustion? Or had I also fainted like this? But why?'

Li Jin had imagined many scenarios of what all things he would do when the apocalypse started, planned out seemingly perfect strategies of living comfortably with the company of some friends. But, reality once again gave him a slap on his face.

Li Jin recognized that it was one of the virus-carrying asteroids which had fallen all around the Earth in his last life, but he did not remember any fainting incident. But why didn't people mention anything about this incident later? Was something like this wiped out of the memory of the whole world?

He only remembered waking up at midnight, and finding his room being attacked by a horde of zombies. Looking outside the window, the situation of the road was unrecognizable with burning cars and bikes, running people, and shouts and screams of people as they tried to fight the undead.

*BOOM* *BOOM* *BOOM*

The noise seemed to come from a nearby place, which startled Li Jin.

He ran to the balcony of the house and found that this sound was coming from the road outside the villa. A car had suddenly crashed onto a tree and burst into flames. Li Jin looked around and spotted people fainted on the streets. The gardener in the nearby villa had fallen on the bushes, the hose still opened and streaming out water.

Everything outside was progressing to the similar situation that he remembered. Some of these fainted people will turn into zombies and will be thirsty for the blood of their own kind. Some will wake up in a strange situation, either injured or safe, and find their close ones suddenly attacking them. Many will then realize that they have gotten strange powers, and will get a new hope for survival.

Li Jin stood on the balcony in a daze, and felt like the only person awake in an asleep world.

Maybe this situation did happen in his last life… And differentiation of people into zombies, mutants, and abilities happened in this interval. Which means…

Li Jin went inside the house and started tying up everybody in the house. He bound their hands and feet to strong and heavy things using clothes and bedsheets. He made sure to tie them far from each other. This was to prevent the person from turning into a zombie and attacking the nearby person when the other was unconscious.

For now, he was not worried that if someone turned into a zombie, they would break the cloth restraint. The initial stages of zombies were like a person high on drugs. Their brain didn't have the power to process anything. They just followed a single purpose, that is, to get some blood. Their strength was also very weak, as they could hardly even find their balance. It was the willpower that got them moving.

If the person does not turn into a zombie, they will definitely untie the knot or think of a way to get out of the restraint. They could even use words to call for help.

While he was tying the people, Li Jin suddenly felt a similar rush in his veins as his pupils dilated and he realized something. He quickly completed the work and ran back into his room. Closing the doors tight, he sat with his legs crossed in a lotus position. Soon, he realized that the familiar energy was once again flowing in his body.

Happiness came so fast that Li Jin lost his ability to react. He blanked out for a while and then felt a rush of emotions. With tears overflowing from the corners of his eyes, Li Jin let out a silent scream in the air.
