Chapter 6

I woke up to the smell of bacon and eggs from downstairs in the kitchen. I sat up in the bed and saw some clothes at the end of my bed. It was a pair of black sweat pants and a red t-shirt with a white sweater and socks. I got up and went to put them on. Once I put on the clothes I made my way downstairs to the kitchen to see who was cooking.

"Good morning Kizzy, how was your sleep?" Ash asked as he cracked an egg into a pan.

"I slept fine, the bed was way more comfortable than the metal ones I slept in for twelve years," I said with a laugh.

"I bet it was. I went to check on you before I went to bed and you were out like a light," he said with a smile.

"So I was wondering, after everything you told me last night, is there anything else I should know?" I asked him.

"I told you everything that I know about that place. But if there was anything else I will tell you," he said as he put some bacon and eggs on a plate. "Here you go, bacon and some over easy eggs that are runny in the middle."

I looked at him with shock. "How did you know I eat my eggs like this?"

"I didn't," he said. "I just assumed you did because as a kid your father ate them like that all the time. You really eat them like that?"

"Yeah, I guess my father is to blame for that," I said with a laugh. "Where's Gray?"

"He's outside chopping wood for the furnace. It gets cold at night around here. When your done eating you can go help him, he's just out back," he said starting to clean the counters.

Me and Ash made some small talk as I ate my breakfast. When I finished I gave him my dishes so he could clean them. Ash gave me a pair of shoes to wear since I didn't have any. I put them on and went out the back door to find Gray. I saw him by a small shed chopping wood like Ash said he was doing. I made my way towards him, seeing that he had already chopped a good amount of wood already. Not realizing I had been staring at the wood pile for a long amount of time I zoned back and saw that Gray was staring at me.

"Well look who finally woke up," Gray said as he set the axe down. " How was your sleep in a real bed?"

"It was great, actually. This is the first time I have woken up without a sore back," I said to him smiling.

"I can agree with you on that, those beds were the worst," he said with a laugh. "Well your sleep must've been good cause we didn't here you at all. So I asked Ash to make sure you were actually still in the room or not. I would've checked but I thought it be weird since I don't really know you and all," he said as I saw his face start to blush. I decided to change the subject.

"So how did you get here, you said Ash brought you?" I asked him.

"Well it wasn't just Ash," he said picking up the axe again and chopping more wood. "His girlfriend, Eve, was with him. I saw them both outside my window one day and they were both looking at me. I turned to look away from them but when I looked back they disappeared. And then a few hours later they came barging in and then they took me here, telling me that this is my new home now."

"Did they tell you why they did it, why they saved you?" I asked him curiously.

He chopped another piece of wood but stopped for a few seconds before answering me.

"They said they brought me here because when they were looking at me they noticed my eyes. Apparently my eyes are a rare color for a werewolf to have. So that's when they decided I needed to be saved and protected," he said sounding unhappy. He placed another piece of wood on the chopping block. "But for you he had a valid reason to save you. Your his niece," he said slamming the axe down on the piece of wood.

"So where is Eve?" I asked him hoping it would take his mind off of what we were talking about.

"She went with Patch and Stitch to check out another 'orphanage'. They should be back tomorrow, they have only been gone for a few days," he said.

"Hey Kizzy, can you come in for a second, I have something to talk to you about," Ash said standing in the back door.

"Yeah sure," I said to him. "You okay if I go?" I asked Gray.

"Yeah go ahead. H e probably wants to just talk about the chores here," he said with a half smile.

I smiled back at him and made my way into the house. I was greeted with a huge bark from Cujo as I came back in. I bent down and gave him some pets before looking up and seeing Ash standing by the dining table.

"He's a very needy dog," he said with a laugh.

"Oh I don't mind," I said as I continued to pet Cujo. "So what did you want to talk to me about?"

"Well it's nothing bad. But it will sound weird to you. We just have to talk about changing your name," he said to me with a straight face.

I stopped petting Cujo and looked up at Ash with a confused look on my face.

"What do you mean I have to change me name?"
