JUST A CUP OF CONFUSION

CHAPTER TWO

Ever since mr Mclay started coming to the shop frequently. i never felt bored, tired or sleepy as often as i used to.

It all started out , when i served his table and it was my first time serving. . .i'm not really good with people. i do get out of my shell when i need to talk to patients and all, that's only because i've been trained for it. what to say. . . . what to do.

That's why i'm always behind the counter, doing what i do best. once in a while stacy forces me to go serve, saying i need to learn to connect like how normal humans do. luckily for me_ i got to serve his table and from there, things went off smoothly for us. he'd go on off about his family with me. and let me tell you this isn't your normal sized family. . .he'd talk about his children, how they fought over absolutely everything. how he knows it's because they love each other so much that's why they behave like that. . .

Then we have his grandkids. well i know nothing much about all his grandkids_ only his favorite . .

Well you see. . .that one!!___ he talks about all the time.

Told me how the poor boy lost his father at a young age. all the boy's left with his is mother and a business he'd already started running at a very young age. 'he matured faster than his peer. . .got thrown into the dangerous business world so early. . . now the lovely, lively, carefree boy i grew to love is overshadowed by the cold distant form he's suddenly become' were his exact words to me. Who could blame the boy___he lost his father for crying out loud and he almost never tells me his grandson name. i'm not one to pry but it was weird seeing as i knew the rest but not his grandson's.

He went for another sip of coffee, obviously enjoying it.

"So" he said.

" are we going to discuss why you weren't around?". he asked

"i tried asking the owner but she. . . well let's just say she's a very interesting character" now obviously i'm supposed to tell him all about me being a doctor. with how he tells me his secrets no problem, probably because he's old and has no more worries about life. . . either way i should tell him right.

" or is that a no go area. . . something not all is meant to know?"

"oh no, no, no. why should that be a no go area, besides if it is a no go area, which is not. why should i find it hard to tell you of all people"

"well. . ." he said, ready to hear me out.

come on Tife.

Tell. him ." i had to go job hunting"

"another job?. . ." he asked looking perplexed

"of course, you know i can't just depend on only this job if i actually want to pay my bills and all. so yesterday i decided to take a leave so I could go find better paying jobs". . . . i'm so sorry stacy. you pay well. God forgive this soul for lying to an old man. . . don't send me to mr satan. . . i promise to do good next time.  lying to him isn't something i'm too pleased about but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.

"Oh__ why didn't you tell me about what's happening with you ". " i could've helped the best i can . . ." he all but politely offered.

" absolutely not, i can't lend from an old man. . . no offence. i prefer if i do things myself so it shows im independent and all" now that wasn't a lie. see__ i'm good at repenting. i also don't really need his help since i'm not really looking for one.

"Hmm_ i would love to disagree with you. tho i completely understand you, so i won't push it. if you ever need any help of such don't hesitate to ask me" he said. giving me a reassuring look.

"Thanks old man" i smiled. he laughed . making his wrinkles pop out more, him looking so calm and more relaxed than normal. not stressed at all. . .  his family must be away so he must have some time to rest more. having such a knack of observing things was another thing i was solely good at, a great asset in ,my field .

"is everything okay Tife?? . . . do i have anything on me?" he asked reaching for his face to check if he had anything on it.

laughs " No old man" i said still laughing my ass out here.

" Nothing's on you, can you like just drop your hands now". " you're making me laugh my guts out here". i tried calming my fits down. already knowing i looked like a fish out of water.

"That's a relief".

We talked for hours after that. mostly about his said grandson this time around. weird. . .

" i guess i finally figured it out"

His brows scrunched together. looking very confused. "what are we talking about dear?"

"Why you're so damn happy" " your grandson. it's gotta be him. . . he's coming home right, that's why you are so giddy."

"you are always so smart, yes dear. . . . he's coming home soon. i'm just so happy to finally see him again, it's been so long since we last met."

he smiled "i wonder if he still skip meals like his mom reported him always doing. you know he gets so busy that he forgets to eat".

"hold up!!!. . .  he forgets to eat?. . .  why is he always so busy to that extent. i don't remember my school days being so hectic. i need to give cynthia more credit then if this is what she's actually facing too". i said. seriously surprised by this ordeal.

 "School. days??" he asked.

"Yes!!!! school days. . .  you know, school and all that".

"isn't he like 18 or so"

"18!!!!" he shouted. causing a lot of  head turns, luckily we didn't have a bat swinging stacy running into the place like she bout to murder. my guess __she's knocked out pretty bad not to have heard that.

"what's wrong old man" i said after apologizing to the customers, assuring them. that's no cause for alarm at all. guess what he did people. . .  he started laughing. again.

"Tife . you  . must . be . a . comedian" he said in between laugh " cause you young lady are a funny one. they would really love you" he reached for his cup. calming himself down.

"Especially North" taking a full gulp of the coffee after saying that. going back to his reading, which meant he was done for the day but i wasn't. he can't leave me here with more questions piled up in my head. like who this North guy was?. is he the grandson or someone else. did i miss something or what. . .uhhhh, doesn't matter anyway.

I stood up, ready to take my leave. right after i told him to holla at me when he was done with his drink so i'd finish up his table.

he nodded his okay and i was already planning ways i'd get more information outta him.

i don't like prying but i don't like my questions hanging in the air. sooner or later i'd get it and i bet its going to be soon. . . .

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR GIVING JUST A CUP OF COFFEE A CHANGE. YOU ALL ARE THE BEST!!!
