CHAPTER SIX
Once I got dropped off by the bus, it had gotten pretty dark out but thankfully my place still shone brightly, making it easy and safe for me to get to my apartment building. I had to make haste tho, who ever said light stopped anyone from doing anything. I was also lucky enough not to have bumped into james, he'd have bugged me to death and we all know I wasn't ready for that energy.
Fumbling for my keys, I tried steadying myself on the door handle since I could barely hold myself now, only to have opened my supposedly locked door. . . Hold on?!, Did someone break into my apartment?.
This new discovering brought all my senses back, with my strength moving from a zero to– well to whatever.
I walked in. trying to be stealthy, if I was lucky enough, the crook would be way gone by now. I thought this place was meant to be top notch safe, that's what we agreed on. . . Come to think of it I didn't see our normal guard out, I'll need to file a complain about that later, although— I really have nothing suitable to rob in here, so yeah the crook would've been long gone by now. I hope. . .
Getting a good view of my living area, it was still empty but not exactly in the way I had left it. . . That's when it hit me, the most tantalizing smell ever. My robber must be extremely nice to have prepared a meal for me— no, no, no, that also meant he/she is very much still around.
So I grabbed the first thing my hand touched and made my way to the source of this mouth watery smell. My kitchen.
"Stacy?"
"Fucking hell!!" A startled stacy said, jumping and dropping what looked like a pan on the floor.
She squinted her eyes at me trying to see who spooked the shit out of her, since where I stood was dark and the only light on was the one coming from where she stood.
"Tife. . .?" She asked, sounding not too sure if it was really me.
"It is you. What the hell Tife, why'd you have to scare me like that, are you trying to give me a heart attack"
"I thought you were a crook"
I raised my brow at this "You thought I was a crook. Funny I was thinking the same thing about you too" I pointed my weapon at her.
"What are you talking about?" She asked, bending to pick the pan she dropped earlier. Placing it on the counter top whilst removing the contents in it.
"You're not making any sense here and why didn't you knock. Just creeping around this place like a total creep" she said, moving her hands around for more effect. "And what. Is that supposed to scare me, the supposed crook" she pointed at the sanitizer I had in my hand. That wasn't my smartest moment, why did I pick a sanitizer of all things.
"Well it works well against germs" I said, trying to save my ass.
"Do i look like a germ"
"Well I do see some uncanny resemblance tho. . . Anyways you're the creep here stacy, this is my place and you didn't even lock the damn door" I said, drifting away from the lil comeback I was giving her when I saw her glare. Let's not get sidetracked.
"How'd you even get in here?" I asked, walking towards her, dropping the supposed weapon down as well.
I gasped at my sudden realization. "No way!!. Did you really break in here like an actual crook does" I said. My mouth hung low.
"Here" Stacy plopped something into my mouth, to probably stop my rambling. Biting into it I couldn't help the moans that came out of me.
"Good isn't it?"
"Hmm hmm" I hummed my reply with the contents still in my mouth, I was taking my time in chewing because I was enjoying each flavors that exploded in my mouth everytime I chewed.
"It's something I've been working on back at the cafe and at home too" she said, handling the delicacy with care. She sure was a talent.
"Can I have some more?" I asked, stretching to grab one more, only to have my hand twisted painful to the back.
"Ow- ow- ow. Bully, bully!!, I need that arm" I protested.
"Go take your stinky, hospital ass to your room, shower, wear some nicely scented clothes, then you can have some more, got it." She demanded. she is such a bully and pretty damn lucky I was too tired to deal with her.
"Fine let go woman" she did as I instructed, earning a scowl from me.
She shoved me out of the kitchen.
"Shoo fly"
"Hey!. Don't think we're done here young lady, you still haven't explained how you got in here" I said, giving her the I got my eyes on you sign. She rolled her eyes, saying something about me being 'so dramatic'.
As soon as I got into my room, I stripped out of my clothes and made my way to my bathroom. Deciding whether I should just take a quick shower or soak my body in the tub. I think I should go for the tub, that seemed more efficient. I filled the tub, lit up my cinnamon stick scented candles, poured my favorite bubble soap and dipped my sore body in. Let me tell you— that was the best choice I've made all day.
My tight muscles, relaxing at immediate contact with the water, the scent of the candles sending my brain sensors to nirvana. . . I felt heavenly_ bliss. I hadn't gotten a nice bath at the hospital— damn I must've let out an awful stink. Caleb never seemed to be bothered by it tho, he always hung around me a lot . . . Keeping me company. I smiled at that or maybe he was just used to the hospital smell. . .
"Creep alert"
I sighed. There goes my nirvana.
"What do you want this time" I groaned, peaking a eye open at her.
"Just wanted to ask where you kept the stash, only for me to come in here and find you— smiling like a complete cr...."
"Creep. . . Yeah yeah I know" I rolled my eyes.
"What pervy thoughts where you having in here" she tapped the side of her head.
I sat up. Rolling my eyes at her again. . . And she called me dramatic.
"Eww don't show me your boobs, that's nasty"
"Then don't walk in here when you know I'll obviously be naked" I stated.
She scoffed. Her eyes catching something that perked her interest. "Is that cinnamon sticks?. My God It is. . . I love those, the scent is heavenly. Can send you to cloud 9.
"I know right— a patient gave me as a gift at a time and since then. I became obsessed"
Stacy nodded her at me. "I don't blame you" she said. Blowing them off just as I brought my nightly skin care products out, ready to start my prepping.
"Why are you in here again?." Her temples folded at my sudden question, trying to put two and two together.
"Oh yeah. Where'd you put them?. The stash, couldn't find them in the fridge."
"Stash?, What stash?. . . I don't drink Stac, remember." I told her, finishing up my routine and headed back to my room.
"Why would you want to even do that to yourself?" I asked as she followed after.
"Don't you have a shop to run in the morning. Which reminds me, why are you here, on a Friday night?. You do know I live pretty far away from the cafe and you're even thinking of drinking . Have you finally lost it!!" I rambled, I honestly believe she finally gave in to her crazy side.
I wore my night clothes, going back to the kitchen to where my initial target was.
"Now if you could just stop rambling for a bit, maybe you'd get an answer to at least one of your questions— jeez Tife, you sure talk a lot" Stac said, guiding me to where she moved the delicacies to.
Jumping on the couch, I quickly grabbed at it before Stacy came up with any funny ideas.
"Childish"
I stuck my tongue out guiding the treat to my mouth. The taste just keeps getting better and better, I knew it was a good idea to be friends with a pastry chef. . . Totally worth it.
"What are we calling this beauty?" I asked.
She looked spaced out, giving my question a thought.
"Oh I've got one" Stac said. Looking like a bulb literally lit up over her head.
She sat down as well. "I'll call it— tell me where my stash is before I shove this" she yanked the box out of my hands, moving them extremely close to my face. "Up your stinky ass".
"My ass isn't stinky"
"Bolu. . ." She never calls me that.
"Ughhh. . . . Fine!!. I hid them under the bed, I know classic me but only because you bought them without my permission"
Stac handed the box back to me, leaving for my room immediately. By the time she got back, I was done with the treat and was halfway into a movie I randomly chose on netflix.
"Why didn't you give me a heads up about the disaster waiting for me under there. . . It took me fucking hours to find just this one, how am I going to find the rest?" Her exasperated self complained, dropping the bottle hard on the center table.
I tried not to laugh not wanting to be murdered by a frustrated stacy, I never warned her about it because she was too much in a rush and I never wanted them to be found.
Turning towards her, she was already chugging down the drink, quickly might I add. Her legs were folded on the couch, attention focused on the movie I had picked even tho it didn't seem like she was truly paying attention to it and the fact that she didn't complain about the movie— something was definitely wrong.
"You're gonna regret it in the morning" I broke the silence.
She just shrugged her shoulders instead. "I'll deal with it in the morning".
"Wanna talk about it?"
Stac paused, there was a reflection in her eyes and it left as quickly as it came.
"There's nothing to talk about".
That was it, I didn't push further and she went on with the drinking right till the movie credits rolled. It was a good thing I picked a short one, my body was begging for a long nice sleep and it needed it now. Stac was already asleep, normally she was a loud drunk . When she turns to a quiet drunk, I know shit must have been hard for her.
I pondered on what could've happened to her— knowing Stac, she'd take forever or never to ever open up about what's bothering her. If I tried to press on about it, she gets all guarded and aggressive. It wasn't always pretty. . . So it was best to leave her at her own pace, eventually she'd come around. I already made it clear that if she needed a shoulder to lean on to I was always available.
Grabbing my blanket, I tossed it over Stacy and positioned her in a more comfortable way. I switched the TV off, took the bottle to drop it in the waste as i went on my merry way. . . Dropping my tired self hard on my lover and letting my body receive the sleep its been craving for all week. . .
