A new despair

Amas got ready to visit the doctor one last time or second last time before everyone that was he himself, his mom and Kahala's family left for the family vacation a week later but he wanted to see her for once before leaving. He wanted to talk to Avyanna and wanted to her everything that had been going down, but she had not been coming to the park anymore nor at the stop they'd meet at which for a fact made him a bit out of sorts as he got changed from his school dress into his casual clothings as he got down the stairs and asked his mom if they were gonna leave or not. She replied, "For some reason, the doctor hasn't called as he usually does to call us in." "Maybe he's forgotten mom. After all he's an old man." Amas said taunting a bit at his mom as they both began to go off in gale, then she got up , took the car keys and asked her son to follow her. They left the driveway as she told they would check if everything was alright with the doctor at the hospital and he agreed to what she said.

Even though he had teased Amas and pushed him to the limits, he was still a good guy. Of course Amas knew that all did was for his own sake that he wanted the best for him but there was something he wouldn't let anyone else know, something that only the doctor was aware of. It could either be a fatal disease that Amas had or the reason why he was so dedicated to have Amas recovered. Soon the car was at the hospital already, where he was not present which.... was not like him at all. He seemed to be the kind of guy to work seven days a week no matter what which caused Amas to look for the nurse who had looked after him, coincidentally she wasn't at the hospital too. When Naavya asked at the reception they told them what they wanted to hear the least or not at all.

"Due to the sudden passing of his daughter yesterday in the hospital, he is not able to be here today and the nurse has visited him as a representative of the hospital." And she smiled also she continued, "I can get you his address, say my prayers at the place too."

Both of them were grieved deeply by the news, he was a great human being and did not deserve to have been struck by a tragedy and one this cruel. Naavya quickly took Amas with her to the car and started to drive towards their destination. They reached the place in less than 20 minutes, thanks to the lack of traffic on the road that day. At the entrance for some reason Amas couldn't ring the bell, he'd reach his hand out and it would start to shake but finally he mustered up the courage to face the guy who had been by his side ever since he met him, in a miserable state. It wasn't him who answered the door, it was the house maid who took them in to the room where all those who grieved were sitting and there was a picture of the girl in the room too, right at the front. She was a beautiful girl and Amas acknowledged it, he turned around and started to look for the man he had come to see. Naavya just waited in the room with other guests while he asked the maid where the owner of the house was, she told him he was at the roof top alone and she would not recommend him going there right now but he did anyways. There he was, the doctor standing alone probably reflecting on his life and why did things had to happen the way they did. He walked up to him and said, "Hey old man! How are you?"

He seemed to be startled by the presence of someone else except himself so he quickly cleaned his face off all the tears, smiled and said , "I'm good kid, what about you?" "I'm good too, she was beautiful...your daughter." he told him to which he replied, "That was the best picture of her we had.... she indeed was beautiful, really beautiful. My daughter...." and he broke out into tears, he just cried while the boy tried to console him. Soon they were joined by Naavya, who expressed how terrible she felt at the tragedy and how things should've been. Then she went ahead and asked him to let it all out, everything he'd been storing in for all that time and how his daughter passed away. Even though it seemed like a selfish thing to do, she asked him to them everything. He began,

"Suzan was my second child, and my only daughter she was the most beautiful and cute girl in the whole world and everyone adored her. Her mother passed away last while giving birth to her, so I really wanted her to live a long and fulfilling life, just like her mother. Her elder brother is a really responsible child, he was just 3 years old when her mother passed away and he didn't flinch for over 15 years taking care of his younger sister. As a matter of fact he was more of a father to her than I was, I was just the money guy for the house he was the one who emotionally supported her always always had her back. But somewhere I made a mistake by not being there, even though she never complained about it. The little girl had a lot of psychological stress to deal with, the effects didn't show in the early 12 years but when she was 13 we realized that she was schizophrenic by birth. She'd always talk about things in the house that weren't there and she'd say she played with the imaginary characters, it was perfectly normal for children to do so I didn't pay it much mind but these hobbies slip out in them by the time they hit 10 or 11 at max but Suzan continued to report to me about something eerie being around, she'd tell me about things that didn't exist like a portal to another world and how she believed that the world was just a dream of hers. This beautiful but naive thought made her want to wake up and check for herself what the real world was about and how things really are so she jumped off a bridge, she wanted to wake up. That day you left after being discharged? That exact same day she jumped off the bridge, the operation to get her on life support was successful but she didn't make it back from the life support. The only thing that pacifies me is that she may not have endured much pain, this fact makes me feel a bit better."

"You're a great human being sir." Naavya said, "Maybe but not a good father." He replied with a tear drop leaving his left eye and Amas hugged him and said, "Hey old man, you don't gotta worry alright? You got a son to look after and you got a friend in me, come on the lost one can not be brought back but you need not waste what you have!"

"Where's your son?" Naavya asked "He's probably looking after the guests." He replied , "Have you talked to the boy?" She asked again "I didn't have any courage to look him in the eyes." He said and started to cry. His son then entered the roof through the terrace door, came running and hugged his father real tight and started to cry his eyes dry. The eyes that had not cried ever since he was 3 years old were finally watered and his father too hugged him like he didn't wanna let go, remembering all the sweet times they had together with the girl who would not be there anymore with them, who had moved on to a better place. A place where everything was possible and even though this moment was an epitome of sadness on the surface, it still was a beautiful moment where many bonds were healed. A moment that would be remembered for years to come or perhaps for the rest of their lives, by those who had witnessed it and the little girl would be happy that she could bring people closer to each other, smiling at them from the heaven, if such things exist.
