An Qi opened her eyes, finding herself lying down, sinking in the softness of a bed. It feels great, and now she's reluctant to get up.
However...only a moment passed before she actually got up to check her surroundings, as her curiosity won in the end.
An array of nightlights are the only source of light in the room engulf in almost entirely darkness, but she can still see that this room is just quite...
'Huhu, this is someone who lives a pretty high-class life~'
The bedroom may not have a lot of decoration, but its great size and quality cannot be disputed. Other than the door to the hallways, here are two other doors, connecting to a bathroom and a dressing room.
An Qi yawned and stretched, then took a look at the clock on the nightstand. The numbers glowing in the dark showed that midnight just hit.
She peeked outside the bay windows, with the opaque curtains aside, the dark world outside was revealed.
An Qi closed her eyes again and started to receive information about the original host of her role and this world.
The original host's name is Lan Ziyan (蓝紫燕).
She is the youngest daughter of the Lan Family, her personality was known to be reserved, aloof, and cold. But actually she was just very shy.
The original was a loner, no one was close with her due to misunderstandings of her wanting to be left alone. Lan Ziyan had no friends, her family's also so busy that they only spend time together occasionally.
Her circumstances are honestly a bit sad, but this is totally an advantage, because there's no need for An Qi to act much at all. No one really knows much about the original owner and her personality, although it still wouldn't make sense if she suddenly started to act different.
Eh, who cares anyway? She will be just fine acting cool and distant...
'...as long as shit doesn't go down...haha...!'
Now, onto the world's plot. The main protagonist of this world is called Su Lifei (苏莉菲). Su Lifei and Lan Ziyan both got accepted to the same high school. And of course it is a high quality school with many students of powerful backgrounds. The school's name is Blossoms Academy.
The protagonist Su Lifei spent her freshman year at another school, so she was a sophomore for her first year at Blossoms Academy. Su Lifei is from a wealthy family, but she concealed this and pretended to be from a modern family that's neither too rich or poor. This caused her to be bullied by some students that has a higher background, although she also made some friends.
Due to the school's prestigious reputation, it is full of students that has rich backgrounds, so the school values the talents and skills of students more than their family's status. The school will have a big event annually with many different competitions to test the students.
The competitions ranges from the arts, sports, and academics to more extreme ones like hunting, aerial sports, and actual combat. Other than that, there is also one competition that is for any talents or skills. This one is always the most anticipated one because there will be amazing acts for it every year.
Competitors are separated by grade levels for fairness, but some activities have all the students of the academy in one ranking list. Students are only required to choose at least one competition to participate in every year as a graduation requirement.
An Qi look directly at the trophy in the display cabinet under the nightlights, the gold glows faintly in the dark room. It seems like Lan Ziyan's freshman year is already over.
The original had only decided to take the ones for academics, which includes Math, Language, English, Science, and History. She was first for all of the five competitions, and was awarded as one of the best freshmen of Blossoms Academy last year.
A golden trophy with an intricate design representing all the different subjects, without any sense of distortion. It was what made Lan Ziyan felt something other than the usual dull numbness, something quite rare with how her life had been.
Apparently, it gave her something to do.
A goal to achieve in this boring, lonely, and cold life.
An Qi thought that is pitiful, and foolish too. She has money, she doesn't have a weak body, and she is also beautiful! The only block to the "ideal perfect life" is her cold-on-surface but shy-on-inside personality.
Or...the lack of a proper social life.
Shame. Is this going to be all like this with the other so-called clients? So much potential that never got discovered and then wasted?
'Well...not on my watch. No way I'm going to just rot away! Manipulating that system was absolutely worth it! Hmm...as for the "protagonist"...'
When she first started school, Su Lifei was underestimated by the instructors and students as a "middle-class girl who had never suffer any hardships nor enjoyed any luxury". However, the others soon noticed that she was quite hard working and was achieving good grades. Some teachers end up having a better impression of Su Lifei because her behavior influenced other students to work harder.
Su Lifei was determined to be in the top 3 in at least 5 of the famous competitions, she believed that this will help in letting her family recognize her abilities. Even though Su Lifei is their elder daughter, her parents doted more on her younger sister, Su Feili (苏菲丽).
They believed that Su Feili has more potential and talent than her, and gave her more of their time and attention. They do have reason for that, with Su Feili being in the same grade as Su Lifei despite being two years younger than her.
Regardless of reasons though, they are really terrible parents.
The Su parents even personally arranged a special entrance exam for her to attend Blossoms Academy's rivaling school, Dame Dahlia...what a low blow.
This caused Su Lifei to fester jealousy and hatred for her sister, but she didn't show it...and nobody knew or suspected that even after she personally ruined her sister, because well, it was all "justified".
Yeah, breaking news. It wasn't.
Anyway, according to the information, that's her under the mask of being the lovely and hardworking female lead. Now back to the surface image she shows.
Su Lifei studied and worked hard in preparations for the competitions almost everyday, although she would get interrupted sometimes. Because some dumb girls who doesn't have better things to do with their stressing but extravagant student life.
That was until that one day, while she was working in the library (of course), she caught the attention of a certain someone. Mu Youcheng (木又程), this world's male lead, or male protagonist.
Mu Youcheng was a popular senior student at Blossoms Academy. He is a great athlete and has good grades, his family was also quite high up there and his charisma was just as high too. (Of course) he is a highly sought after bachelor—
Mu Youcheng was bored that day, so he decided to go around the school for a walk. He saw a delicate strawberry-blonde girl working in the library, but some other female students was taunting her and interrupting her studies.
And so, as the model senior student, Mu Youcheng decided to help the girl rid of the harassment!
Then after some time of working together and having each other's back and blah blah blah, yeah they found each other attractive and was all shy about it and stuff. Until the main villainess came and decided to try disfiguring Su Lifei, in which she failed and ended up hurting her own legs, causing her to become crippled.
Mu Youcheng saved Su Lifei, of course, and they then realized their love for each other and yada yada. Insert romantic scene. They got together and continued to conquer the school.
Now...this part.
Little sister Su Feili came! And Su Lifei, somehow still insecure even after achieving so much, ran off away from Mu Youcheng in a moment of insecurity when she saw her and....
...and ran into Lan Ziyan.
Wait, how and why was Su Feili at Blossoms Academy when she is a student of Dame Dahlia?
It was like this: Su parents were suddenly worried about Su Lifei for once, but not in the way she would want. They were worried about her damaging their family name...so they sent Su Feili to Blossoms Academy.
It can be seen as some sort of political move with how the other wealthy families are definitely going to investigate the backings of the students—the potential ones to lead major families in the future. So due to this, the Su parents wanted to make sure those families with children at Blossoms know just how great their younger daughter is—to cover up any shortcomings of their elder one.
Anyway, Lan Ziyan was just minding her own goddamn business, and then Su Lifei bumped into her. And guess what, it caused them to both fall into the deepest end of the school pool.
And why where they even at the school pool? Oh hey, it's because Lan Ziyan was preparing to take a short practice swim that day, as she recently got on the swim team as an effort to build more confidence.
Honestly should've pick something else, like what about music? Relaxing and gratifying when you finally get the notes right, surely builds your confidence in some way. But oh well, it can't be helped if it was what she had chosen in the end.
Alright so, both girls fell into the deepest end of the pool and started struggling to breathe.
Meaning they started to drown.
Lan Ziyan didn't have much experience swimming at all despite being in the swim team and Su Lifei wasn't a good swimmer either.
Eventually, one of them drowned. The other had "instinctively" used her as a leverage to get herself out by pushing her down.
The one dead is, of course, not the female lead.
It was Lan Ziyan who drowned.
Su Lifei was horrified and traumatized from that event, and Mu Youcheng was always with her from then on.
Su Lifei was seen as just a lucky student who got in on scholarship at first, but after Su Feili enters, people started to realize her identity and their blood relations as sisters.
Rumors spread crazily, about all sorts of things relating to her. The incident, her identity, the "standing" and "worth" of her in the Su family, and her relationship with a certain popular senior.
For how the whole thing was eventually calmed down, it was quite disgusting. It was an accident, maybe manslaughter even, by Su Lifei's own error...but...they eventually calmed it all down with an explanation of suicide.
Which is funny considering the reputation of the school, as Blossoms Academy never had a suicide case before despite the high expectations set for the students. The only deaths that happened were during certain competitions...
Lan Ziyan, a loner, a girl who kept to herself and always maintained high grades. Recently joined the swim team.
They twisted the facts into a story.
Of how she was so depressingly lonely, so stressed by her grades, and of how she decided to join the swim team to gain access to the pool. To commit suicide.
It was a fucked up veil they weaved and place over the truth. All to just dispel some silly rumors which would had faded, but they decided to manipulate the truth instead. And everyone remembered Lan Ziyan as the girl who committed suicide.
Su Lifei didn't felt any guilt and the original plot itself covered up the truth of the incident exactly the same as the rumors did. Of how Su Lifei was just in the wrong place at the wrong time and had no part in bumping into Lan Ziyan. Of how she was even trying to save Lan Ziyan but ended up failing...
It gave Su Lifei more recognization and exposure due to how this case was so controversial. Some believed her story and sympathized with her, others were doubtful and scorned her.
But Lan Ziyan, the main subject of the case, the girl who actually died, was just ignored. Whatever the reasons may be, out of respect or out of disapproval, she was ignore and eventually forgotten as time passed.
It was the opposite of what Lan Ziyan always wished for. She wanted to be noticed, to be acknowledged, to be something more than just...nothing.
And even if the actual truth was told? Well it was honestly quite ridiculous already, and with Su Lifei's rising reputation and the support of Mu Youcheng...would they had wanted to believe the truth?
It wasn't a fate she wanted, but then she was already dead.
Well, so is An Qi. She died and then became bound to this silly system.
She doesn't really care about Lan Ziyan's fate, but if she has to be Lan Ziyan in this world, she's not going to be treated the same way she was.
No way.
