"The last thing that I remember before it happened was getting off work, I was tired and looking forward to some grub when someone ran into the side of my car sending it into a ditch when I gained consciousness the scene was filled with the air raid sirens wailing in eerie way".
"It didn't take long for me to see it then, a mushroom cloud up north of the city about where the base was. Then the blast wave sent me flying into something hard, probably a wall. Trying to move I found that I was paralyzed facing upwards watching the blue sky rip open, my hair was warm and wet accompanied by a roaring in my ears that sounded like a jet engine". "The roar grew louder as my vision faded and the earth trembled, I think there were screams and crys yet I didn't care I knew I was dying and strangely enough I was relieved".
Alex died at 23, in a Nuclear war. he lived 1999- .... wait a second.... what a strange creature....
'Does anyone remember their birth? probably for the best, I found my second horrifying to experience.' With what seemed like a second, as if he had only slept Alex was born again, "is he healthy doctor why isn't he screaming?" one stranger asked.
"I have not clue, the cub here took my smack like a champ" this was the midwife who responded, she held the infant Alex I'm her arms. Alex had felt the pain of the smack but he was much more concerned with where he was and what was happening him, currently staring down the midwife with such intensity she was beginning to feel discomforted by it.
"Your son has the spirit of a fighter my lady, as well as the eyes of an animal" said the midwife as she was handing Alex over to his new mother. "Ah I see a little fighter. then he will be Koa, it should help you." said Koa's mother.
Alex's mother held him gently while Alex was trying to get an idea of where he was, being exhausted though considering he was an baby Alex started falling asleep. As the week's progressed Alex now Koa was doing as baby's do eating, shitting, sleeping, and shitting.
'Well I guess it's not so bad to get a second chance, it beats playing catch up every day of your life and I don't have any problems or responsibilities.' Koa started picking up the language and names as well as some other details, his mother's name was Sasha and his father's name was Duncan. Duncan was away doing what well Koa was in the dark for that but he could guess that his father was important, Koa also learned the family name Vargr with their banner depicting a ferocious wolves head lunging at the sun. Below sat a text "to chase fire and become flame" Koa meditated on the meaning but ultimately guessed it was some dumb boast.
Eventually Koa grew annoyed with his body and started attempts to gain strength and maybe some mobility, at the moment the efforts were fruitless and frustrating but he had to do something. When Duncan returned from his travels around what Koa thought to be a month he was crawling but just barely.
"Where is my son! Bring my boy to me!" Duncan demanded when he blew into the estate. At once Koa's attendant and mother scooped him up and over to the loud beast, Sasha with a smile ear to ear delivered him to Duncan's arms but those arms! they were covered in scars! Duncan's face was partially covered in bandages.
"Duncan what happened, you look terrible" Sasha cried out. Duncan instead made no response but examined his new son "he's seems so strong already" he said.... "everyday Koa tries to do the impossible, I can keep him down" Sasha replied.
Then the couple embraced and kissed putting Koa in the uncomfortable position as confined observer, once he accepted the role he noticed his father was clad in grey plated armor trimmed by crimson red cloth.
'The man is a monster, and the armor is that of a knight so that explains the size of the estate' thought Koa. He was now making theories about the system of government in charge of the country, which he now assumed was a form of mid evil feudalism.
Duncan didn't stay long, instead he had to leave on a mission by the end of the week.
Koa watched his new father leave and his mother cry both struck a strange pang to his heart. 'It seems in this world peace is also a daydream'.
Koa started spending more time trying to learn to move on his on free will to obtain at least a small amount of mobility, however he was facing to obstacles one being his crib and the other his mother. every time he began to leverage his body against the rail someone always foiled his goal, but with each failure he was able to feel much more comfortable in his body.
Six months after Koa was born again he got it, his mother was resting and the aid was nowhere to be seen. regardless he moved in the opportunity and released the latch to his cell, unfortunately he didn't think of the strength needed to ease it down and it weight easily overpowered him.
Slam! the cribs gate slid down and stopped. After making such a ruckus he had to move 'damn, damn, damn! curse my feeble ass. I can't even manage to walk yet and with my luck I'm not going to be able to scout the house on my own till I'm able!' not taking pause to look around he eased himself off the ledge of the crib and on to the floor.
'Ok this is the second floor I need to find a window I can use, so right it is' taking note the talking to himself is bound to make him seem odd in the future he made his way to the door to the right. Koa being unable to walk for six months had developed quite the technique of crawling so reaching the next room was a simple matter especially since the adults had left the door ajar.
