Chapter Nine

Chapter nine

Of course, we cleared the air. All we did was; we brought up a story that in no time became a hot sensational topic in the whole school. Everyone forgot about Nate and I in no time. Soon after, Jake and I got together and we became the golden couple until our unfortunate break-up.

"I just thought of something now" Lucy says gaining my attention. I nod to show I am listening to her.

"Let's get a journal then we speak to everyone that Josie knew asking them to tell us the best memory they had with her so in return, we write everything down in the journal" Lucy suggests while looking proud at her idea.

"That's a good idea" It's going to be fun doing that" I say placing Jo's diary at the bedside table.

"We can start with each other. We just sit together and tell each other memories we shared with Jo that was amazing" Lucy says and rests her head on my thighs.

"Then we move on to her mom" I say

"Yeah, then her sister" Lucy says. Yeah Josie has a sister. Her name is Anna. She goes to college at Indiana. Josie was her step sister. Josie's dad had Anna with his highschool love when he was in highschool. Anna lives with her mom and stepdad in Indiana. Back when Josie's dad was alive, Anna do spend the weekend here but as soon as he died, the visit was less frequent, she only visited when she felt the need to. It wasn't like Josie and her were close, she just thought it would be nice to keep visiting even if it was once in a year besides Anna hates every part of Jennie's being.

"Then Andrew"

"And Caleb"

"Pat"

"Recca"

"Timothy" He used to be her neighbor before he moved away for college.

"And maybe even Jake" Lucy says and waits for my response. I surprised her by shrugging"Maybe. He was also her friend"

"We should do it. It will really help us feel closer to her" I say.

"And maybe we will finally be able to move on"

"Alright so that's it. We're done" I say to Jennie and dry my hands . We stood back to help Jennie with the dishes.

"Thank you so much girls" Jennie smiles pulling us into a hug. And before Lucy begins to complain, she releases us. Lucy doesn't like hugs or I think she just hate any show of affection.

"Alright Jennie. Bye" we utter in unison and walk away leaving poor Jennie all alone in her kitchen. No trace of Andrew. He is probably in a bar drinking his brains out. I do wonder why Jennie wastes her time with such a person.

Lucinda's POV

I enter the house through the backdoor, my younger sister Mary is sitting in the kitchen reading I think.

."Hey kiddo"

"Hey" she says in her tiny voice. I have always admired her voice. I on the other hand got such a horrible voice. Sometimes my voice gets mistaken for a guy's own. Okay maybe I was exaggerating a little bit but still Mary's voice is much better.

"What are you doing?" I ask her.

"Homework of course" she rolls her eyes.

"One of these days, your eyes are going to fall off" I say and she brings her tongue out at me.

"Then your tongue will cut off" I tell her again and she just giggle and turns her attention back to her books.

"Where is Margaret?" I ask her.

"I don't know why you always bother to ask. you Know she's in her usual spot" I walk to the living room and of course my mom is sprawled out on the couch. My mum is an alcoholic. I don't exactly blame her. My brother died four years ago when he was just two. It was painful for everyone of us but we found different ways to let go. My mom couldn't bare the loss and instead numbed the pain with alcohol. I can't remember the last time she was sober. When she started drinking at first, she still created time in the morning to make breakfast for my sister, dad and I but as time went on she stopped and dad took it his job of making sure breakfast was set even before we woke up. Dad made breakfast and even packed lunch for us but then dad got a new job at New york and left. He really wanted to stay back but he just couldn't. The pay was nice. Mom was no longer working, so all responsibilities fell on him. Mom was really mad when he told her and when he left, she got worse. Dad creates time to video call us every two days and he always made sure he was home every holiday. Dad wants me to get admitted into NYU and then he would have Mary move in with him and maybe then mom would finally get cleaned up and maybe even attend one of those AA meeting. Dad still loves her and really hopes she can get better but that's left for her to decide if she wants to.
