Chapter 2

CHRIS's POV

I was about to board the C130 headed home when my phone rang.

As soon as i pressed accept i heard my mom from the other line saying

"Please tell me you're on board a plane coming home or i swear your dad will let one of the jets to fetch you there." Using a dont-you-dare-mess-with-me tone

"Im about to mom and we'll be on air in less than 30minutes. So ill be home by tomorrow noon. Relax will you?" I replied

"You'd better be young man." And with that she hang up

Shaking my head and a smile plastered on my face i approach the plane.

"Man, when will you be back and where you headed?" Max asked my closest friend and my wingman.

"Been granted a 15days RnR so more or less 12days depends and home." I answered i have no plans of telling him about my business in the other side of the world, The Philippines.

After 19hours im finally home. I placed my duffel bag beside the coffee table and planted my body in my bed.

Ah its been a while. I missed the softness of my mattress minutes later i followed the light. Darkness consumed me.

I was awaken with a loud and continuous banging of my door. I tried to tune out the noise to no avail argggg

"Christian Paul Grey, if you're not in the dining area in 15minutes im gonna whoop your ass." Yeah thats my mom and she's the only one who threatens and calls me that and get away with it scratch free.

I know better so i rushed to the bathroom and accomplished my morning routine in 10minutes. Hell yeah when you have a mom like that and i swear sometimes i think she's a high ranking navy seal in her past life you wont dare go against her when she starts using that tone on you.

As i entered the dining area mom and dad were already seated waiting for me as soon as i sat dad laid down the newspaper he's reading and mom started placing food in our plates.

It's why i love my mom so dearly despite her being a dragon -please dont tell her i told you that - while dad on the other hand well business as usual but he makes sure he doesnt bring business at home or else mom will just go ballistic on him and unleash the dragon in her. We the Grey Men know better.

"Son, we'll leave later this afternoon to meet your fiancè." Dad started

"Dad, can you just proceed with your business there without involving me? Look im just 27 and has no plans of settling down in the near future." I tried to talk dad out of it for the nth time

"No no honey we've talked about this before and you know all along why we need to do this." Mom reasoned out

"Son, if its that easy i wont drag you out of that desert. I allowed you to enter the military even if i want you to manage the company instead. You only have 2 options: Marry James' daughter or quit the military and work with me in the company." Dad left no rooms for argument

"Must you always use that card to get me to do things that i strongly opposed?" I asked and sighed in defeat

"Thats settled then. We leave at 4pm then and son please be at your best behavior once we're in the philippines." Mom said as i placed my plates in the sink as i wait for mom and dad's plates too. Yeah born and raised with silver spoon yet the military taught me everything i need to know in life that in reality not everything is handed to you in silver platter though Max thinks that in my case it is if i just choose to. Well i dont!

At 3pm mom was yelling for dad to hurry up cause we well she dont wanna be late. As dad approach us

"Dad can you at least show me her photos so i would have an idea." I asked

He handed me his friend's and his friend's wife's photo.

"Dad are you shitting me? These people are of your same age bracket." I raked my hair multiple times as i control my temper

"Language young man." Mom scolded me thats why i need to keep it cool

"Stupid, do you think with those genes they will have an ugly offspring? I bet your fiancé grew as a fine woman." Dad replied as we head out the house

"LANGUAGE!!!!" Mom yelled dad and i shrugged and left the house immediately leaving mom furious.

Fine woman my ass as i thought to myself. For sure she's just like all the other rich girls who's good for nothing and only cares about their nails shoes and clothes arggg that really annoys the hell out of me.

I spent the entire ride listening to music via my headphones. It took 11hours in the air and 30minutes by land to reach my "fiancé's house"

As we unload the rolls royce, we were welcomed by a couple around my parents' age who i presumed as my dad's bestfriend and his wife.

"Christian, Paula welcome and please lets get in so you could rest." The woman approached my parents as she hugged them then dad made a brotherly hand shake with the man

"Oh Tina, James this is our son, Chris. Chris, this is James and Tina your soon to be parents-in-law" my mom introduced.

"Nice to meet you ma'am, sir."

"Quit the formality Hijo"

"How would you like me to address you then?"

"Mom and Dad will do." Tina replied and i was taken aback even if that wasnt surprising at all since their playing match makers and all plus she's like my mon's clone no wonder they're friends.

James however is somewhat discreet " uncle and auntie will suffice for now, young lad." And with that i nod.

We we're escorted in the garden which is breathtaking. The soft green grass that covers the land a fountain in the middle of a makeshift maze comprised of different kinds of roses that just homey - gives a warmth feeling. Quite a site.

"Ma'am, Ja- oh young lady will join you in 5minutes." One of their house aids said.

"Thank you." Tina replied then smiled

And after 5minutes a lady surfaced but she's not wearing the house aids uniform. maybe their niece?

"Mom, you called me?" She asked.

Is she who i think she is?

"Oh Hija, yeah i want you to meet your fiancé and future parents-in-law." Tina said as she motioned the lady to come near her

"Christian, Paula this is my daughter Jane. Jane, this is Christian and Paula your fiancé's parents." James introduced them

"Nice to meet you ma'am, sir," she extended her hand and shook theirs but i didnt miss when her nose scrunched and the way she rolled her eyes at the mention of the word fiancè. And i think its cute - oh wait what?

"Paula will do honey." Mom said then continued "oh and Jane, this is my Son chris your fiancé." As mom eyes me to stand and extend my hand

"Hi" was all i could say as i shook her hand and man quite a grip so i cant help but raise a brow which she just copied.

"So introductions has been made so im outta here. Bye" she cheerfully said as she placed her hands in her pockets then just as she's about to turn

"CJ where do you think you're going?" Her dad asked

"Just have a few things to get meet some old friends since ill just here for 5days might as well make the most out of it since i dont know when will i be back next." She replied

"Bring my men with you, its not safe out there." Her dad told her

I swear i saw anger flashed im her eyes but left it as i blink.

"Dad, i can protect myself and may i remind you that im trained not to just protect myself but also to eliminate threats." She replied in a duh tone but the look on his dad's face says that this conversation aint over but as i witnessed this exchange of words between father and daughter i cant help but wonder what's her occupation until my mom but in using her sickly sweet tone

"Jane honey, your dad's right its not safe outside and it'll give us peace of mind if you'll bring bodyguards with you."

"With all due respect ma'am, just like what ive said im capable of protecting myself and i can tell you that with the experience, training and skills that i have i am more than capable of protecting myself than they do for me." She replied confidently and if im being honest im impressed the way she handle herself well then dad voiced out my million dollar question

"I was just wondering what do you mean with training experience and skills that you have?"

"Im in the Philippine Army, Sir." She proudly answered

"Oh my son's in the military as well." Mom told her with that she avert her gaze to me and when our gaze met we both nod

"Navy SEAL, to be exact." I added

With that she won and was able to get away without a body guard.
