A Tale from the Past .Pt1

Nine thousand years ago.

Devil.

"Would you behave yourself Lucifer? The celestials are talking." she says with mock annoyance, which makes me kiss her neck again.

"Let them talk, I'm not doing anything to interrupt them." I reply with false innocence.

"You're distracting me so much." she assures me with rapid breathing.

"Oh, that means I'm doing my duty." I purr.

I feel the presence of one of the Celestials approaching, I take her face and give her a quick kiss and then hide my presence. A tall, blond-haired man enters and analyzes the room carefully.

"I thought I heard voices." he comments.

She points to the window quickly, which is right where some Celestial leaders are giving a speech about the importance of giving rather than receiving.

Ridiculous, receiving is much better.

"I think you must have become confused with the voices of the great leaders." she says with a relaxed look on her face.

The man squints his eyes as he analyzes her.

Why the hell is he watching her so much? I'm seriously considering raising hell up here. Finally he turns and leaves the room, she sighs in relief and begins to scan the room with her eyes to find my whereabouts, again I become visible and she smiles broadly, then runs and throws herself into my arms.

"Who knew a Celestial would be such a good liar?" I bite her ear and she playfully breaks away.

"You weren't supposed to come here today, we had agreed to meet in the mortal realm, when your demonic crowning was over." she reminds me.

I roll my eyes and laugh.

"I couldn't wait, it's your fault for being practically my entire existence." I pout.

She hugs me and buries her face in my chest.

"We both know this isn't right, if the Celestials find out..."

"I would be willing to start a war against them if they intend to oppose." I declare firmly.

She raises her head and denies again and again.

"Until recently the disputes with the fallen angels finally ended, at last it was settled that you would reign in Hell, I don't want you to be involved in any more disputes, if the higher Celestial finds out it will be much worse."

"My brother won't do anything." I assure her, caressing her face. "I just have to find a way for you to be with me down there." I smile sideways and kiss her cheek. "With you by my side, reigning in Hell will be the easiest task ever assigned to me."

"We both know that's not possible..." she smiles sadly. "I didn't join your revolution because I was too stubborn, now we are all being subjected to a complete purification, I'm surprised it doesn't hurt you to breathe up here."

So that's what stinked...

Stupid Celestials, always being a nuisance, I just couldn't stay here any longer, pretending to agree with every order and every command assigned to me, I wanted and needed to be more. The revolution lasted a few millennia, which finally led to Hell, my own kingdom.

"Don't worry, I can handle it." I assure her.

"You are much more powerful now." She caresses my face. "You finally have everything you ever wanted."

"I'll have it when you're next to me in Hell."

"I can't go Lucifer, I tried to leave in a civilized way, but no Celestial is allowed to abandon his duties, it is our duty and for the sake of the humans we must fulfill them. You know that is who I am and what I love."

Agh, she and her compassion for that stupid race, everything would be so much simpler if evil was natural to her, but it's hard enough to make the rules be broken on her part, I can't push her to see things my way.

"I have something for you." I divert the subject, since mentalizing myself to be so far away from her is like piercing my body with a dagger of light, painful to indescribable levels.

"What is it?" she asks excitedly.

I extend my hand and in this one I make the golden ring materialize. I take her hand and slide it over her ring finger, it fits perfectly.

"My mark." I say simply.

Her expression of surprise is present, she looks at her finger and then sets her eyes on me.

"You can't..." she mumbles.

I let out a laugh when I notice how stunned she is.

"Of course I can." I say very calmly. "I want you to have it."

"Devil, you're binding yourself to me for eternity, you're not even a Celestial now, we don't know what this may cause." she replies nervously.

"I don't care, even if all the Celestials make a fuss about all this, my mark is yours. Do you think I can give it to someone else?"

"No..." she murmurs self-consciously. "I don't think I could live if that happened."

"And I couldn't live without you." I assure her. "Now I'll be far away, that's my only regret of having to reign over Hell, but if you have my mark I'll feel that at least I'm here taking care of you."

"I'm going to miss you."

I see how her violet eyes look at me melancholy, something inside me squeezes, I feel tempted to take her away, even if that would start a war against the now Demons and the Celestials, but I know that is not what will make her truly happy.

"Kaamly." I savor her name. "I love you, I truly do."

"I love you Lucifer." she smiles. "Or do you prefer Diablo now?"

"You can call me whatever you wish." I kiss her forehead. "I'll be whatever you want, I can even pretend to be good for you, it will be a little difficult but I'll try my best."

"You are not bad." she assures me without second thoughts.

I frown in confusion.

" I am." I reply as a chuckle escapes.

"Well, you're not to me." she strokes my hair. "To me you will always be good, even if you decided to go against the whole heavenly kingdom."

"I was so damn selfish and didn't think of you, I still torture myself for it. If only I was a little more humble, I would have been able to obey the orders of the Celestials, but I just exploded and...."

"It doesn't matter." she interrupts me. "I believe that every existence has a purpose, and yours was to get out of this cloud of perfection and find the place where you belong."

Goodness is not in me, it is said that a simple thought can create the most powerful desire in one's heart, it is like a seed that grows until it finally acts, that is what happened to me. I did not understand how my existence could be reduced to doing what I was ordered to do, I could not have an opinion about anything even if I did not agree with it, I wished for a kingdom where freedom was what ruled over everything.

"You are always so good..." I murmure.

"And now you are the master of evil." she says in a mocking tone.

"That's right, I can punish you." I threaten jokingly.

"You would be incapable of doing such a thing to me." she declares innocently.

"Very true, but I can do many other things to you that are much more pleasurable." I start kissing her neck.

"No, no, no, no, don't even think about it. I still have some respect for the Celestials, we won't have intercourse here."

"Sex?" I raise an eyebrow.

"Hey!" she covers my mouth quickly. " Don't say dirty things."

"Darling, I live to say them now, in fact, I could tell you in your ear everything I'm going to do to you, I'm pretty sure you can't wait and we'll do it right here if I do so. "

"Don't even think about it. It's wrong."

"And that's why it's funny." I smile mischievously.

"Go now, sooner or later the superiors will feel your presence." she tries to push me to the exit but I can't move a single centimeter.

"You break my heart!" I exclaim jokingly. "Remember that we will see each other in the mortal realm."

"Promise me you won't hurt any humans." she frowns and narrows her eyes.

I roll mine and sigh.

"I promise I will not steal, murder or mistreat any human soul or living human." I say reluctantly.

"That's my devil." she gives me a quick kiss before turning and sitting by the window, as now, in the center of the Celestial realm, the leaders are dictating the new rules that everyone must follow, and I thought it would be over with the speech about being a good giver.

I smile and deny to turn around and materialize out of there.
