The Truth

In Elysium, the Council of Gods just ended. Most of the gods had already filed out of the coliseum, except for two.

Demeter and Gaia stayed behind to discuss the council's decision.

"Are you satisfied, that your son Plutus shall have some of his powers restored?" Gaia asked her daughter.

"Mother why could they not fully restore his powers. Hasn't he proven enough, but more does he have to prove?" Demeter pleaded.

"Your brother Zeus and son have never gotten along. Plutus has never favored Zeus' mortal children, that's partly the reason he blinded him. I cannot say for sure if those too shall ever get alone, but at least some of his divine power has been restored," Gaia said soothingly.

"Why do my brothers make me suffer. First, Hades kidnaps my Persephone, and then Zeus cast my son from the heavens. Only, poor Philomelus is left to me," said Demeter sadly.

"My daughter, I know you have suffered. But, soon all things shall be made clear unto you," said Gaia comfortingly.

"How long do I have to wait to get answers? Why remove his powers on Earth, but allow his divine screen to return in Terra? Why can't I speak with my son, but I can speak to my daughter-in-law and teacher? Why can't I hug my son?" Demeter asked frustratedly.

"Trust your father and me. He has a crucial part to play in this war. Know dear child, when your siblings descend, you two are allowed to step foot on Terra. Your father and I have agreed to let you see Plutus in the dream state. Soon, I promise you, mother and son shall be reunited in person," said Gaia hugging Demeter.

Will sat in his office in Gadreel, reviewing the events that occurred in Kukes. No matter how much he drank or smoked, he couldn't forget what he'd seen.

On his desk, was the Sage's Diary he got his freshmen year in the Knight Academy.

He'd leave here in six months and make the journey to where the sage had died. He'd explore man's tomb until he got the information he needed. His goal was to become a sage in two years.

If he told this plan to anyone, they'd scoff at him. Two years to become sage was impossibly fast.

As Will was thinking, he saw his screen blinking in his eye. When he clicked on the screen, he stared in amazement for a brief second before he fainted.

When he opened his eyes, Will was standing in a field full of wheat. A short distance away, he saw Demeter. She looked the same as when he saw her at the Wolf Tribe séance.

"Where am I?" Will asked her.

"You're dreaming," Demeter said happily as tears began to roll down her cheeks.

"You're the Goddess Demeter, aren't you? I remember you!" said Will pointing at her.

"Yes, my son," she said.

"Son? Are you my real mother? The mother, Tiamat was referring to?" Will asked curiously.

"Yes, you're my son Plutus, the God of Wealth. You and your siblings share my power over agriculture and your grandmother Gaia's affinity over nature," Demeter explained.

"Why was a sent to Earth and reincarnated in Terra? Why did you abandon me all this time?" asked Will angrily.

"Search your memories. The Council of the Gods has returned a part of divine authority," Demeter said, secretly hurt by his claim of abandonment.

"Zeus! He petitioned the Council of Gods to exile me from Elysium. He was upset about the lack of favor I showed his sons Hercules and Perseus. In return, he blinded me so I could distribute the gift of wealth impartially.

I was exiled from Elysium to learn the value of philanthropy and apportioning wealth equitably. Even my brother Philomelus supported my punishment because I wouldn't share my wealth with him.

Mother, I now see my errors. I lost sight of what was important. In my exile, I did my best to teach others how to build wealth. I did my best to share my wealth with others. I also donated my wealth to build up cities and communities," Will said humbly.

"I am so proud of you. I watched you every day. I am so proud of you. I love you Plutus. You have grown wiser as a god. Finally, I get my chance to hug and kiss you," said Demeter wrapping her arms around Plutus. She cried tears of joy to finally after all this time, hug her youngest son.

"I missed you to mother," Plutus whispered in her ear.

"I've waited an eternity to hear those words again," Demeter cried.

"But mother I can return home. Not, yet, I must help these humans defend against Thanatos and his minions," Will pleaded.

"I understand. You've grown close to many people. Know that should you call on me, in your hour of need, I shall come at once.

The gods in Elysium and Tartarus are limited when they set foot on Terra. It's easier to conserve power by sending an avatar. But our avatars can only unleash a quarter of our divine authority.

Plutus your grandparent's power is waning. The planets shall align in a year, that's when Aether and Gaia's power shall be reduced, and your cousin Thanatos shall unleash hell on Terra. Be ready by then! For even us gods in Elysium do not know where they'll emerge," warned Demeter.

"I understand mother," Will affirmed.

"Also, you're not the only god on Terra. There are others like you. Find them and work together, it might just be the spark you need to overcome," recommended Demeter.

"Thank you, mother, I'll keep my eyes open," said Plutus thankful for the hint.

"From now we are free to meet here, but I desperately look forward to you returning home. Oh, and bring that pretty wife with you," Demeter chucked.

"Okay, bye mother," Plutus said hugging her one last time and waking from his daydream.

He smiled. Finally, he knew his true identity. He was not the Robert from Earth, or the William from Terra, but the God of Wealth Plutus.

With his memories intact, he took a glance at his stats.
