Drink Run

POV Sapphire:

I close the doors behind me and make my way down the red-carpeted hallways and stairs. To get some drinks for the team I have to make my way to the concessions area. You see, the dorm building has more than the rooms for students to live in. In fact, the building has a basement, the ground floor, four floors, and the roof; only the first through fourth floors have dorm rooms, everywhere else has different uses.

The roof is just that, the roof. There is not much else other than ventilation ducts and air conditioners. The ground floor has a small lounge, an office, which is where the dorm manager spends most of her time, and a shared cafeteria-like place, which is where I am going. The first basement level has a laundromat that is used by the students to clean their clothing. No more handwashing clothes for me! There are also a few rooms that we, as students, are not allowed in, with amenities, such as a boiler room or a backup generator inside.

But, anyway, enough of that. As my thoughts were wandering, I had arrived on the first floor, and so I once again traveled down a hallway. A decent amount of people in either combat gear or school uniforms litter the halls.

I move down the hall and reciprocate any morning greetings thrown my way, but it doesn't take me long to find the white double doors with concessions written on a sign above them. I walk through the doors and am greeted by a noticeably louder environment and a relatively large room. It's not huge, but it is plenty large enough to fulfill its purpose. The room has the same color scheme as the rest of the building, except instead of carpet, tiles make up the floor. A kitchen-like space, with stainless steel countertops and black cabinets, takes up most of the room, with vending machines with canned drinks and small snacks making up the rest.

Other students are scattered about, getting whatever they want for the morning, but there are not many at the moment.

-haaah

I sigh in relief from beating the morning rush, but I know that it is only a matter of time before the flood starts. With haste, I make my way over to an unoccupied stovetop. I kneel, grab a kettle from a nearby floor cabinet. I don't bother using the sink and stove, however, using my semblance, in a similar way to how I used to prepare my bath back in the cabin, I fill it with ice and heat it to a boil.

-Wheeeeeeee!

With the whistling of the kettle as a signal, I set the now steaming water on the black stovetop, and turn it on to keep the water warm. I then grab four mugs from a wall cabinet nearby and set them on the counter to the right of the stove. With that done, I start with making everyone's drinks.

Weiss and Yang are the only ones in the group who like coffee. Ruby can drink it too, but only with sickening amounts of sugar and creamer. She likes sweeter things, so that is what I'll get her. Blake and I prefer tea, but different kinds.

First, let's start with Blake's tea. Blake prefers tea made from leaves imported from Anima, and Beacon just so happens to keep some stocked. I guess, as Vale's only school for huntsmen and huntresses, Beacon is afforded many luxuries.

Anyway, my thoughts have gotten sidetracked. With my now refocused thoughts, I make my way to a pantry and grab, not just Blake's favorite tea, but everyone else's favorites as well.

Blake likes a tea called 'Dragon's Tears'. It's stored in a mostly dark red box, and it has a very strong herbal taste to it. I tried it once, and I hated it; even so, I do like the scent it has.

I grabbed one of the mugs that I had previously gotten out, and filled it with the, no longer boiling but still hot, water from the kettle on the stove. With the mug now full, I retrieved a teabag from its box and sank it into the mug's hot water. Using the attached string, I bob the tea bag in the water until I am satisfied with the color the water turns into. With the drink finished, I move the mug to the side and let the tea bag just soak in the water.

Next is Ruby. Ruby's favorite is this raspberry-flavored hot chocolate, but, by her sister's orders, she is only allowed the drink a couple of times a week. Lucky for her, I can't help but indulge the little light; I do try to keep it in moderation, however. Anyway, the hot chocolate is easy to make. I just pour water into another mug, put a couple of scopes of the hot chocolate powder, and mix.

I move Ruby's hot chocolate next to Blake's tea and move onto Yang's coffee. Yang's favorite is a bean that is imported from Menagerie but is very popular here in Vale. I can't tell the difference between coffees, but if she likes it then it's fine I guess. I brew the coffee using a pour-over method. It is a popular way of making coffee so we have the proper stuff here: A container with a funnel-like top and some filter paper.

I wet the filter paper with some hot water before placing it on the funnel-like container. I then grab a few spoonfuls of the pre-ground coffee and put them on the filter paper. Following this I pour hot water onto the coffee and do so until there is enough for a cup, stopping occasionally for the filter paper to drain. I sweetened it with Yang's preferred two cream, one sugar, and set it with the other drinks.

Now onto Weiss. Weiss prefers a coffee that is popular in Atlas, unsurprisingly. I don't know where it's actually from, but I guess it doesn't matter. I brew hers the same way I did Yang's, but I do wash the container first. Weiss likes her coffee with minimal additives, but she doesn't like straight black coffee, so I only add in a little bit of sugar and creamer; just enough to taste, and move it to the other's.

Now for me. I don't like warm beverages in the morning, so I usually get something from the refrigerated vending machines. There is no charge, but the good stuff goes away fast, even if it is restocked daily. I take my place in the short three-person line in front of the cold drink machine, and wait my turn, hoping that they still have something good left.

--------------------------

After the guy in front of me gets his drink and leaves, I walk up to the vending machine and see what they still have. It seems that I'm in luck, the only things gone are a few of the sodas and sports drinks. They still have my favorite, green tea with ginseng and honey! No drink beats this in my eyes! The only problem is that I'm not the only one who thinks so, so it sells out fast.

I push the buttons to select the green tea and wait as it falls to the bottom of the machine. After I grab the cold can, I go back to the drinks I left on the cabinet. On my way there, I grabbed a serving tray from the stack at the end of the counter, so I could bring all the drinks back. The trey is white with Beacons crest in blue right in the middle, seriously, they put that thing everywhere.

I get back to the other drinks and place them all on the tray along with my green tea and make my way to the exit, but, before I can leave, I hear a male voice call out from behind me.

"Well, if it isn't team RWBY's little pet, playing fetch for your masters are we?" the voice says in a mocking tone accompanied by the laughter of its companions as well as a couple of audience members.

Haaaaah….
