Sore loser

"Of course, don't mind if I do, being the winner and all." declared Maddie proudly. Annie and Matt did not even know what to say, at this point they should not be surprised when Maddie was just being herself.

"Just open the basket already, there's no need to be so dramatic about it." said Matt as he scoffed, sure that Maddie was just stalling this unnecessarily. If she wanted to bask in her glory then she could do that later, some of them just wanted to eat.

"Relax Matt, don't be a sore loser." she replied.

"I'm not a sore loser, I'm just hungry." said Matt.

"That is also a trait of a sore loser." she added as he felt like tearing his ears off.

"Then it means you're a sore loser since you are always hungry." he replied wanting to get the last word, but he knew that with Maddie that was nearly impossible.

"No, mine is different, the sore loser is you. I just need more food than you all since I'm a growing child and I need my nutrients." said Maddie shamelessly.

Ollie who had been trying his best to stay out of it could not help but let out chortle when he heard Maddie's scandelous words.

He could not believe that she just said that she of all people was a 'growing child', meanwhile who was the one saying no to all his ideas because she claimed that they were not children?

"Maddie, you—I cannot believe what you just said right now." said Ollie as he laughed.

"You just say out of this blondie, I'm not talking to you." she replied facing him. He zipped his mouth up as he snickered.

"You know what, all of you stop it. Maddie stop it, Matt stop it, let's just eat already." said Annie as she sighed. Sure this was funny right now, bit this was before it would turn into a serious fight that would last for days.

"And Maddie you do know that you've been pulling the 'I am not a child' card the entire time we've been here, so since you're a growing child there's no need for you to complain that something is childish when you admitted that you are still a child.

"You know what, I don't care what you say." said Maddie as she scoffed and opened the picnic basket.

She reached in and pulled out a platter of different sandwiches, sausage rolls and other delicacies that got Maddie's mouth watering.

Ollie smiled to himself proudly, he made use of every possibly resource to make sure the picnic food would be something Maddie would be unable to complain about. He knew she was a foodie and she loved meat a lot.

"Hey, I see the way you're eying those sausage rolls, save some for us." said Annie as she took the platter away from Maddie, any second later and there would be nothing left for them.

"Oh relax, I'm not that much of a glutton." Maddie replied scoffing.

She brought out some more dishes and a large jug filled with what looked like ice tea.

"This is one full basket." said Maddie as she could not believe there were more items to pull out.

"The fuller the better." replied Matt as Maddie brought out some cups until finally she brought out the final dish which was desert and it was none other than an apple tart.

"Okay, okay, I see what you did blondie, saving the best for last." she said, she had to admit that apple tart looked really scrumptious, she had to be sure to save up enough room to eat as much of that as she could.

Ollie just chuckled, so far things were going good, everyone was smiling and in good terms, except for Maddie and Matt occasionally arguing, but other than that everything was perfectly fine.

"So let's dig in." said Ollie as he smiled and Annie poured what Maddie thought was ice tea into everyone's cups.

"You know what Ollie, this was actually a very nice idea. I like that we're all here outside eating together like the friends we are." said Annie smiling, she knew that Maddie wanted to refute so she just stuffed a few sausage rolls into her mouth which was enough to satiate her rude remarks.

"I have to agree, and this place is just so beautiful." said Matt as he smiled.

"I am glad that you all like it. I racked my brain thinking of a suitable location, and then I suddenly remembered this." he said as he smiled.

Maddie decided to stay out of the conversation and focus on the delicious food. She took a sip of her drink and her eyes widened when she figured out what it was.

"Apple juice." she exclaimed a happy smile present on her face, she was definitely surprised.

"I knew you would like it." said Ollie as he smiled.

"Like how did you know? And also this apple juice just tastes different in a good way." she said pouring herself another glass.

"I had a little help." said Ollie as he looked at Matt who shook his head. Frankly, Matt thought that Ollie was taking his ambition to make Maddie happy too far, but well, to each their own, he could not discourage him when it looked like he was finally getting through to her.

"But how? I mean you really tricked me, I thought it was ice tea, it doesn't even smell like apple juice." said Maddie as she sniffed her juice confirming that it truly didn't smell like apple juice at all.

"Just a simple concealment spell." said Ollie proudly.

Matt and Annie just looked at each other and laughed, definitely one could get Maddie to like them through food.

"No but this just tastes different, sweeter, what did you add in this?" she asked as if wanting to steal the recipe for herself.

"Nothing, I didn't add anything in it. It's really sweet because the apples used to make the juice are very uncommon, they are rare golden apples that only grow high in the mountains. It's really hard to get but luckily my father had some left over that he was gifted." said Ollie.

"Wait, the apples for the juice were a gift to your father?" asked Maddie almost spitting out the juice but it was just too good.

"Won't he be upset that you used his special apples to make juice for your guests?" asked Maddie almost sad that she wouldn't be able to drink the juice anymore.

"No, not at all, he gets special gifts like those all the time, I'm even sure he's going to return with more apples, so he won't notice." said Ollie.

"You don't have to tell me that twice." replied Maddie as she happily continued drinking what was now her favourite juice.

"I don't think that I will ever be able to go back to drinking normal apple juice again." groaned Maddie as Annie laughed.

"Well you don't have to if you decide to stay here with me forever." joked Ollie as he chuckled.

"Don't even joke about that blondie, not even in another timeline would I live here permanently, even if it meant getting to drink this lovely nectar of the gods every single day." said Maddie.

"Why do you always have to be so dramatic?" asked Annie almost shaking her head.

"Because like it or not, I make all our lives much more interesting with it." she replied.

"Goodness Maddie... I should be used to your ego by now, but you still manage to surprise me every single time." said Matt.

"I love you to Matt." she replied as he scoffed.

The wind began to blow gently reminded them all to take a look at the splendour of the valley they were in.

The lovely flowers danced along with the wind, the grass swaying and butterflies that appeared out of nowhere filled the skies.

"Now this definitely needs a picture." said Maddie, she brought out her phone and took a picture.

"I am going to make this my screensaver, and the other picture I took is going to be my new wallpaper." said Maddie as she changed it instantly.

"Oh come on Maddie you have to be joking, take it down, there's no way I'm allowing you use that stupid picture as your wallpaper, we all look terrible." said Matt.

"That's the point, maybe next time you will think twice before you try to gang up against me like three year-olds." she said as Annie and Ollie just laughed.

"You have to admit, we looked pretty surprised in that photo, like what just happened." Annie said.

"It's not my most flattering portrait, but I agree it's hilarious." said Ollie laughing as Matt just shook his head.

"You see, everyone else is perfectly fine with it, just stop being cranky and eat some sandwiches." she said handing him a chicken sandwich.

"I think you're starting to get more annoying than Evie." he said as Maddie just laughed.
