Chp.33: Everything is changing.

The night was unusually cold. With the rains who resumed their course again after stopping for a while, Janice was waiting for her father to come and help her. Her eyes were just set on the road and her ears were waiting for the ward guard to come in anytime and tell her that she is free.

"What? Am I foolish?" she mumbled. Her eyes, deserted with no hope to look forward to.

"What is Noah going through now? After all these years now when I met him, he had to see all that. Would I believe that I am innocent if I see through Noah's eyes?" she asked herself.

Lifeless, with no energy left to think about right or wrong. Thoughts kept rushing through her mind. Growing numb to feel anything about what she once thought was love. Not because she didn't believe in loving Noah anymore, but she knew she owed Noah something much heavier than the pain of one side love she was feeling for years.

"I might never get to confess to confess to him." She chuckled. "I should just never confess to him." She immediately changed her thoughts.

"But I need to understand what exactly is happening. Currently, if I see from any angle, I am the clear suspect and no one will believe that I am not guilty. What should I do?" she thought, going back and forth in the small cell that was assigned to her at the last end of the prison lobby on that floor.

And then she suddenly remembered the words, Linda whispered in her ears before stabbing herself- "You are right. I am not Linda Robbins, but I am someone who you know very well." And suddenly she felt shivers going down her spine.

"What did she mean by that?" she creeped out for a moment there.

It was 2.35 am and the rains were still pouring down heavily.

Janice sat down and closed her eyes for a moment, "If this all Is a dream, please let me wake up soon." She mumbled and rested her head on the wall.

"Are you Janice Tyler?" a man asked her.

"Huh?" she had a question mark on her face.

"Ah never mind." Saying this the man walked away.

"Where the hell am I?" she thought.

A street full of crowded people, waiting to buy stuff the merchants bought from the nearby kingdoms. The bustling square that seemed to be right in the middle of the town was the place with the most crowd.

"What's happening there?" Janice thought and walked there.

While walking she noticed that she wore a commoner gown and a hood. Hair we like a golden thread though. Too bad that she couldn't see what she was looking like, or maybe she was too distracted to see what was happening at the square.

She reached there and saw a street play going on.

"What is the street play about?" she casually asked a person beside her.

"Oh! It's about the White Witch Louisa. There is a prophecy that she will save our kingdom from getting destroyed." Replied the woman politely with excitement in her words.

But Janice suddenly felt an unusual fear. Something that was stabbing and yet numbing the soul. She felt as though something was going to change very soon. But as she was busy thinking a man tapped her shoulder.

"Miss. Please make way for this old woman." Said the voice politely.

"Oh sure.." she turned back and saw someone who made her heart beat faster.

"Thank you, miss." Said the guy politely and walked through the crowd with the old woman.

"Daniel?" she felt a thump inside her heart.

"I need to find that guy again." She ran through the crowd and caught up with the guy.

He was tall and seemed dependable. He had a warm smile on his face and his eyes were filled with innocence. "That seems different than Daniel but I am sure that he was Daniel. Although I didn't see Daniel for so many years, I can't forget the face I saw just a few hours ago." She thought and called him out.

"Excuse me?" she said.

"Yes?" he turned back.

"Oh! Hello miss. What may I help you with?" he asked politely.

"What is your name?" she asked as she was panting after running.

"Oh? Myself Eugene … Just call me Eugene. I am new in this village." He said with a beaming smile.

"What?" she was shocked at the core.

"But you are Daniel…" as she was speaking she suddenly got up to a loud sound.

"Excuse me. Your guardian and lawyer are here." Said the ward guard as he opened the prison.

"Oh, ok." She said while nodding.

"What was that weird yet vivid dream just now. I can clearly feel that I visited that place. Maybe since I am too tired to think I am making up weird stuff in my head." She shrugged and brushed off the topic as she got up to leave.

Janice and the ward guard walked to the interrogation room and Janice opened the door.

"Dad.." she felt a sense of relief when she saw his face.

"Hello, I am your lawyer, Raymond Quin. Nice to meet you." Said the man with a clean pressed suit while extending his hand.

"Thank you, lawyer." She said awkwardly as she looked away from his face quickly.

"You are free to go now." Said the lawyer with a bright smile.

"What?" she asked thinking she might have heard it wrong.

"Yes, so please sign these papers." Said Ray as he passed a few papers over to her.

"Read them carefully Janice." Her father, the chairman, said calmly as he sat there.

"No need. I just want to leave here quickly." She hurried and signed those papers without even reading them for once until she went to the last page on the contract.

"What is this? A marriage contract ?", she asked. And then she realized what foolish mistake she did when she saw the eyes of those two people.

Staring at her. Looking at her face with intentions of cutting through her face and piercing her heart.

"I told you to read it properly, didn't I?" said her father but in a different voice. A more feminine voice. "What?" she thought she was still dreaming.

"No, you aren't dreaming Janice. You are legally married to me now." Said the man with a weirdly satisfying and creepy smile.

She turned her head around to look at Ray but he wasn't there anymore.

"What the heck is happening today." She looked around and everything seemed to be melting. Her head was spinning.

"I am drugged?" she thought.

Things were making weird shapes and she couldn't think straight and suddenly fell asleep.

There was no time to think about what was happening around her anymore. It was like a weird game that was already in motion without her even knowing. Nothing was making sense, but something was there that needed to be explained.

Or maybe everything needed an explanation.
