Cell

Day 1

Today is my first full day inside the prison. I slept terribly last night. The bed was rock hard and the sheet was so thin I was freezing my ass off. I've been laying in bed for 2 hours since I woke up, and no one has brought me food at all. They can't starve a five year old, unless they don't care if I die, then it'd all be over. But maybe dying wouldn't be so bad. I never asked to come to this world, so why should I have to live in it? If I died, there's always a chance I'd reincarnate again. Although that is a very large risk, and I don't want to be dead. I wonder if there's any chance of escaping out of here? The iron bars on the window are rock solid, and there's no way that I can slip through them, it's too small. It seems that escape truly is impossible for now.

A few more hours of lying around had passed when the teenage guard came to talk to me.

"Morning, Heinrich!"

...

"Ah, still not up for a chat, huh?"

...

"See you later!"

...

What's his deal? He's all smiley and happy for no reason. I wonder what they told him I'm in here for. They probably made me sound like a terrible criminal to him, so why is he being nice? I just don't get it.

The whole day passed without anyone bringing me any food. Just before I fell asleep, a dark figure put a glass of water in my cell then ran off. It was too dark to make out who it was, but i'll be grateful. I quickly chugged the water, then fell asleep.

Day 2

Another very rough night of sleep. This window makes the room freezing cold at night, and I can't cover up. I'm starting to get really hungry, but the water last night kinda helped. I wonder who brought it to me? The most likely answer is the teenager, but I don't quite understand why he'd do it.

I miss Amalie and Evi.

The entire day passed, and nothing happened.

Day 3

I'm starting to wonder how long I'll really be in here. Is it possible to stay sane while in here? I spent the entirety of yesterday, alone, with no food or water. The most eventful thing that happened yesterday, was when I pissed in the bucket.

The teenage guard didn't come by yesterday, but he did today.

"Morning, Heinrich! How'd you sleep?"

"Fine."

"Well hey look at that! You can talk after all!"

...

"Did you enjoy the water from the other night?"

So it was him after all.

"Why."

"Hm? Why what?"

"Why did you bring me that water."

"Well, I thought for sure you were thirsty!"

"Don't you hate me? Aren't I some awful criminal?"

"Hate you? Now why would I hate a five year old kid that's been framed and sent to jail to set an example?"

"Huh... wait what...."

"You really think those dumbass cops believed those kids bullshit stories? Hell no! Those kids are from a wealthier family of yours and this is a demonstration of power. You're five years old, for some reason you sure don't act like it, but you're innocent. And I'm gonna help you get out."

"Wait... really?"

"Yes, really."

This.... this guy... there's finally someone in this damned world that isn't so bad. That's why he's been so nice to me. He knows how fucked up it all is, I've finally found an ally. This is someone I can really trust.

"What's... your name?"

"You can call me A."

"Got it."

"So Heinrich, i'm sure you're very eager to get out now, but it'll be a little longer. Think you can hang in there for another week?"

"Yeah, I think I can do that."

"Glad to hear it. Then, one week from now, we'll escape at night. I'll get everything ready until then. Want some water?"

"Yes please."

"I'll go get that now."

A brought me water, then told me he wouldn't be able to talk to me for the next week, so that the other guards wouldn't get suspicious. He told me one thing though.

"This world is damned, don't trust anyone, it's all corrupt."

He must speak from experience, I wonder what he's been through. But, he's right, I can speak from experience too. I think that A is truly someone I can trust, if he follows through. I'll owe him a big debt in life, I'll be there for him for whatever he needs me for.

I slept the rest of the day away.

Day 8

The past 5 days went by very, very slowly. I sat around all with absolutely nothing to do. A brought me water at night, but we still couldn't talk. On Day 4, the large bulky guard finally came to visit me. He didn't utter any words, he slipped a hard loaf of bread in my cell, then left. The bread was as hard as a rock, yet I finished it in minutes. I was so hungry, it was absolutely amazing. If my counting is correct, then in three more days is when we escape.

Later in the day, A came to visit.

"Hey Heinrich, how are you buddy?"

"I've been hanging in there, how about you?"

"I've been setting things up, two more days till it goes down."

"I can't wait!"

"Haha, you look so happy, I'm glad. Oh yeah, I forgot to ask, where do you live?"

"Munich! If we can get to the center of Munich, I know my way home."

"Sounds good, we'll be escaping by car, so it'll be an hour and a half drive there."

"Wait A, what about you? Won't you lose your job here?"

"Ah don't worry about it, I don't like this job anyway."

"But- you could be criminally charged for helping me escape. I don't want that."

"Heinrich, I'm telling you not to worry about it."

"If you say so...."

"I'm serious, don't feel guilty in any way. I won't get in trouble, and I've been planning on quitting this job anyway."

"Alright...."

"Well then, I'll see you in two days, take care!"

"Cya then A!"

Two more days until I get out of this hell.
