Turilla was surprised when she noticed how strong the older lady's grip was. She felt her blood vessels tighten and blood flow reduce near her wrist making it very numb. She couldn't wriggle out of it so using her other hand she lightly tapped the older lady's hand.
"Arrg, what is it?" She screamed, stopping at the mouth of the tunnel that Turilla and Umari had come in through.
"Uh- my… my wri- wrist hurts. Could… could you probably loosen up a little? Turilla said in a convincing manner, pretending to be hurt. Turilla didn't really mind pain, any kind of pain for that matter.
She took one glance at her before taking a quick look at Umari who looked very uncomfortable. Loosening her (the older lady) grip, Turilla stared at the red finger marks and blue palm became red again.
The three of them went through a series of multiple tunnels which got bigger as they passed through. Sticks lit of fire were the only source of light in the dirt-filled tunnels. The sounds of peaceful soothing water were far behind them and with each step that they took, Turilla compared both her hands before her bare hand suddenly started to deteriorate.
Large red and blue particles moved away from her arm, she noticed right away that this was the exact same thing that happened with the rabbit that came onto her and Imogen up on the surface, but this time it was her who was glitching. Frantically Turilla looked around in search of help but it was too late, everything around her broke away, disappearing into tiny particles while she was engulfed in red and blue. The ground under her feet vanished away.
Turilla clenched her eyes letting a few drops of salty water trickle down her dirty, filthy face when she too disappeared into thin air.
"Mother!" a feminine child-like voice said.
"Welcome back, sweetheart…." A lady replied, sounding very sleepy.
'Who? Sounds familiar… Sleepy…' Turilla closed her eyes
"-la! Rilla! TURILLA~!"
Turilla woke up with a start, gasping for air. Wincing at the pain of her throbbing head, she noticed that she was in a very broken down place. In front of her was a decapitated chair of stone, she found her inside a temple of sorts. 'In the past, the place was amazing like a palace' she thought when she saw a sweetly smiling Umari whose finger was still poking Turilla's right cheek.
"Goodness, was that your first time being transported through a rune?" Umari giggled at the baffled Turilla who had a blank face. "Hey? You ok?" She asked with a lot of concern and worry that her laughing died almost instantly.
"Huh? Where are we?" Turilla asked rubbing her eyes, a small yawn escaped.
Pulling both her hands, Umari helped Turilla up to her wriggling feet. She gave her some water from a funny-looking water bottle before proceeding to tell her about the place.
"We found this place abandon and thought it would be best to take shelter than to be in the open, giving away our location- ooops- Did not mean to say that…"
"You guys are refugees? What do you mean to give away your location? And you still have not told me where Imogen is."
Turilla felt angry for some reason, she has never been without Imogen for such a long time and it infuriated her.
"Woah, calm down. Like I said before, your friend is back up on the surface-"
"Let me go back up," Turilla said almost screaming. She turned, trying to walk to a tunnel.
"N-no! Not after all these years." She grabbed Turilla's arm.
"Years? I have never seen you before, until a few hours ago. Who in god's name are you?"
Turilla yanked the other girl's arm towards her and with her left leg; she swept Umari off her balance making her kiss the hard dirt-filled floor. Turilla twisted Umari's arm behind her back and held it in place while she kneeled beside her.
"Who are you?"
"Well done! So Umari was right." Loud claps echoed around them.
Turilla spun around to the source of the voice, claps and kicking heels. They belonged to a much older lady. She had a soft smiling face that was similar to Umari's but she lacked the genuineness that Umari has in hers. Tall, with darker shaded hair than Umari's but a meaner piercing stare. Turilla felt like an animal who stood in front of a hunter ready to be shot dead.
She walked closer to the two girls and stood right in front of Turilla. She ran a light hand across Turilla's plumpy cheek, still smiling. Her eye caught Umari to which her smile dropped, raising her hand behind her and with great speed, she slapped Umari that the girl flew across the room. It was so quick that Turilla didn't even see the hand until Umari flew across the room, slamming her back hard onto the broken down wall with a loud 'Thuck'
Turilla tried to run to Umari's aid but long red-tinted nails stopped her from doing so. She felt them pierce into her shoulder. Turning to face the fake smiling lady, Turilla stood tall bracing herself for anything that would follow after.
"What is your name, girl?" She asked smiling softly.
"Turilla is the name that I have been honored with." She replied, eyes staring back directly at the older woman.
The older lady's smile dropped into a scowl before she squeezed her eyes with two of her fingers and sighed.
"The great lord that hears and sees us, please let these people have the proper knowledge in naming their children."
She pushed Turilla aside and walked up to the run-down throne. Walking up the deteriorated stone steps, she retracted her black wings back onto her indigo clothes. She then threw her right leg over her left, sitting on the stone throne with an arm resting on the decapitated armrest. The black-winged lady then snapped her finger three times.
"Arg, god please give me a day to rest. I'm tired of dealing with adults with a naming issue and their annoying children." She said rubbing her forehead.
While this happened Turilla spotted Umari struggling to stand, so she leaped to her side to assist her. While Turilla helped the other girl stand as blood dripped down her knees, six other women suddenly appeared at the entrance. All of them were dressed in various shades of blue and had tightly braided hair.
The lady on the throne beckoned Turilla to come near her. While Turilla walked to the stairs of the throne, she tried processing all the events that took place but everything happened so fast that it was impossible for her to do so. She stood in front of her and emotionlessly stared at the lady.
The lady held Turilla's dusty tanned face with the tips of her fingers. With her snaky eyes, she scanned every corner of the younger girl and gaged at her hair.
"Tsk. You look just like him." She said, letting go and resting her head on her arm. "Dumb. Little. Brother." She gritted her teeth.
"With all due respect, what does your brother got anything to do with me?" Turilla asked confused.
The lady started laughing hysterically. She snorted as she held her stomach, taking Turilla's wrist and pointing and her she said "You even got his idiocracy. Silly girl have you not been paying attention to what is said to you all this time?" before continuing in a whisper as her laughter died slowly "Only people of our kind, hose that have our blood coursing through their veins are allowed in here."
"That means…" Turilla gasped hearing what the older lady said to her.
"That is correct, foolish little girl." She said smiling. "Welcome home."
