Chapter 16: Exponent

Mr. Carlysle called Eli that Saturday morning and asked him to come over. Eli had only seen Carlysle Manor in photos and never thought he would be able to go inside. It was situated outside the city and bordered New Kereast. It was an impressively large structure, aged and still standing through generations of the Carlysle family.

He landed by the backdoor of the kitchen as Mr. Carlysle instructed. He changed out of his suit and knocked on the door. An elderly man let him in and directed him to Mr. Carlysle’s study. He passed through the tastefully decorated hallways that even had a suit of armor.

Mo would’ve loved it. She loved old buildings and the history that came with them. She studied the materials used to create them and the workmanship. Eli could picture her running through Carlysle Manor and studying it to her heart’s content.

Mr. Carlysle was typing away on his computer when Eli entered the study. He looked up and stopped what he was doing.
