Chapter 29: Gravity

That weekend, Eli landed on the rooftop that overlooked the docks. Valiant was there and watching the security guards with night vision binoculars. Rose scanned over the perimeter and told him how many people were inside the factory. Eli checked for the time and concluded had time before the CIT Fair.

“Hi, John – I mean, Valiant,” he said. “What’s the plan?”

“Chromium wants us to wait for trucks delivering more of that metal you took photos of.”

“Anything weird about the metal?”

“It’s some kind of rare alloy. Whatever it is, it has Chromium worried about the villains having it.”

“What do you think they’re going to do with it?”

“Build a new base?” Valiant supplied. “Or an evil giant robot?”

The VA headquarters was actually nicely furbished. Eli used to do his homework in the lounge or at Kathryn’s desk. They had a fully stocked pantry with different cereals, which had been Eli's favorite food as a child. Valiant wouldn’t know about any of that.
