Eli was woken up from a pleasant dream by a loud banging noise. He found out it was someone knocking aggressively on the door of his dorm room. Blearily, he got up and found Jennie Moon on the other side of the door. Her blue eyes glared into him before she pushed her way inside the room.
“Morning, Jennie,” he said, sarcastically.
He was too sleepy.
She closed the door behind her with one hand. She looked him in the eye as she demanded, “You have to go to the city. Now.”
“Why?” He checked his smart watch for the time. “It’s only eleven in the morning.”
She stared at his messy, bedridden hair in disdain. “Were you seriously still in bed?”
“I was sleeping in,” he replied, defensively. “It’s the weekend. I’m allowed.”
“It doesn’t matter. You have to put on your suit and fly to New Welch. Mo is in danger.”
That woke him up like a bucket of ice cold water. “What do you mean?”
