Dominic pushed open a door, and they found themselves in the castle laundry. The women did not stop their work as Dominic led his companions through the laundry to a locked room at the end. Producing a key, he opened the door and hustled them in. Inside the room was an array of clothes and a screened off section.


'I think you will find a tub of water behind that screen,' Dominic said to Aliah. 'Wash up quickly and put up your hair. There is a servant's uniform and scarf for your head. Change as quickly as you can.'


'Different tunnel, same plan as I had with Walter,' Dominic replied. 'Now hurry, we have not got much time before the noon bell.' It was only then Aliah realised he was the same man they had eaten breakfast with.


Aliah washed as quickly as she could, wishing she had time to actually soak in the bath rather than just rinse the grime of travel off herself. And oh, to have the time to wash her hair! That would be a luxury.
