Aliah awoke the next morning to the scraping of a chair across the floor, and realised it was probably Seamus moving about in their shared living room. There had been a lot to take in last night and with Seamus heading straight to bed, they had not had a chance to discuss the implications. Arising quickly, she grabbed the dressing gown from the end of her bed and pulled it over her nightgown as she headed for the door.


Seamus was seated at the table to the left of the fireplace, looking out the windows into the back courtyard. He jumped in his seat at her "good morning". She joined him at the table as a polite knock on the door was followed by servants bringing in their breakfast.
