Chapter 113: The Casket of Ember

SEAMUS

Shutting the door behind himself, Seamus turned and almost fell over Robin.

'What are you doing lurking in the corridor?' Seamus gasped in surprise.

'Lurking, sir? I never lurk.' Robin managed to look both superior and a little guilty. 'I came to see if you required more refreshments.'

Seamus frowned. 'I thought we agreed my friends and I would serve ourselves as most of the palace staff left for Port Marden with my father and mother.'

The man in front of him shifted uneasily. Small in stature, dark haired and with darting dark eyes, Robin often appeared shifty. Seamus remembered being told off by his mother when he told her his father's chancellor was the image of a sneak thief in one of his story books. He quickly brushed the thought away as Robin answered him.

'We did, Sir, but I noticed you were all hard at work so I took it upon myself to make sure you were being looked after.'
