Chapter 151: No Turning Back

SEAMUS

With no sign of the soldiers from Carsten, Emer suggested they head on to the rendezvous point. While they rode, Seamus sunk further and further inside of himself.

He was not worried about the up coming battle. In fact, he felt strangely fatalistic about facing the god. He had worked out what to do, he just did not know whether he and Aliah had the strength to do it.

What he dwelled on was his conversation with Baron Wexler. Although he would not admit it to the others, he always believed he would die fighting the god, because to defeat him would require the ultimate sacrifice. It was only when the baron raised the possibility of him surviving, he considered his life after the battle - a life without needing to save the world.

All his anxiety about his future and what to do if he was not going to be Duke of Hand was back, and he was again mulling over the options. So caught up was he in his own thoughts, he did not notice Emer ride up beside him.
