More Reptiles? (pt 2)

*Pew!*

*Boom!!*

Diesel had been blasting explosive arrows at the limbless reptilian creature. It doesn't move in the slightest.

"It isn't taking you seriously," said Claudex.

"Yeah, tell me about it," Diesel said.

"One more time,"

Diesel shot the arrow up in the sky and it dropped right inside the reptilian circled body, presumably where the face was located.

*KaBoom!!*

The Arrow Exploded!!

Diesel flinched once the Massive Serpent finally stared at him...

"We'll be fine, right?" He tried to find comfort from Claudex.

"Yes, we will... do it one more time," she said.

While the creature is lazily still glaring at him, Diesel blasted its face with another explosive arrow. To an enormous creature with a powerful scale, that explosion felt more like fireworks.

Fireworks, however, can also annoy, and in this case, receiving one right on the face, the Serpent could not ignore this individual, not anymore.

*HIIISSS!!*

It became hostile towards them as it unrolled its body with its head reaching up to the sky.

"Now is the time, let's go,"

Like they've been doing, Claudex and Diesel ran in the opposite direction as fast as their legs can carry them.

"It is a lot bigger when standing tall," Said Diesel.

"And we'll use that to our advantage,"

"How?"

"Just follow my lead," she said.

Claudex's plan is to retreat towards the tree_laden area and use the shades to hide themselves. Due to its height, the Serpent will find it hard to distinguish them from the forested area.

"Is this plan of yours going to work?"

"There is only one way to find out," Claudex gaze is fixed to the area covered with tall trees. Just a few more steps to go and her plan will be fully implemented.

The Serpent will not let this happen since it also recognizes the disadvantage this will bring if they make it there.

With a wide-open mouth, it launched at them, going for Claudex in particular.

"Watch out!!" Diesel roared.

By a few inches, Claudex stayed alive, but the force rips the ground apart and the impact knocked them off their feet.

"Don't stop!! keep moving," Claudex commanded.

.

.

.

"They will be fine, right?" Allyn asked.

"Yes, with Claudex, it should be alright," says Baron.

"Are we passing through that cave?"

"Yeah, that's the one,"

"I don't like the feeling I'm getting from just staring at it,"

"There is no need to be alarmed. The snakes living in there are very tiny. The bigger ones can't size in there,"

"These tiny ones, are you saying they are not deadly?" Allyn wasn't relieved in the slightest.

In his world, snakes are not gigantic but they are deadly and this could be the same in here as well.

"They won't attack us as they are too shy to make a move against evolved humans," Baron reassured, "This though, might not apply to normal humans, but for the likes of us, their venoms are useless and they know it,"

"What about the big ones?" Allyn asked.

"We should be careful of those. They are deadly even to a Mage," Baron confirmed.

"I saw that coming,"

They came closer to the cave. The plan is to wait for Diesel and Claudex to come back before moving onward.

*Hiisss!*

All three of them simultaneously felt uneasy and they could also see the shadow of what seems to be... wait! Is that a snake?!

Looking behind them, there, a serpent viciously stared at them. It is not as huge as the King Serpent, not even close, but it is more than capable of taking them out.

Involuntarily, out of panic, Allyn pulled out his blade...

*SLASH!!*

Going straight for its mouth, Allyn swiftly slashed it open...

This was the perfect opening and Baron used it well as he followed right behind Allyn.

Blue Energy-glow formed a long blade connected to a chain and Baron mercilessly struck the creature.

In a few more strikes, the Serpent drops dead, unable to make even the slightest movement. This is the first time Baron had used his true power, and it is indeed a surprise.

"There will be more of them," Cassius for the first time, also activated his ability as you can see lightning sparks around his arms.

'They could have done this long before now,' Allyn thought.

More vipers came out of their hiding and are still increasing…

"Stand your ground. We can take them on," says Baron.

'Are you sure about that?' Allyn wasn't as confident as Baron, and rightfully so.

He is only a level 6 player and most of the snakes here are over the seventh level and more.

"Baron! there are too many of them, we can't take them on, not by ourselves," said Cassius.

"But if we leave, our chances of ever crossing this place will be very hard,"

"It's a lot better than ending up as nutrition," Allyn said.

A serpent attacked him, and he could avoid any fatal hit just by little. He is still too weak and without the mecha_suit given to him by CrockFace, he should have been long dead.

"Tch,"

This thought filled him with dread. If he can't take on a common snake, how then is he supposed to go head_on with the so-called King of titan?

Every second that passes, more snakes kept adding to their rank, and their number became overwhelming.

"Retreat!!" Baron commanded.

There is no surviving an all-out attack from these reptiles, and they are aware of this. The best option is to run, which is exactly what they did, but all the snakes followed right behind them.

"Don't look back, just keep running!!" says Baron.

"You don't have to say that a second time,"

With hordes of serpents maliciously coming after them, Allyn and the rest of the team kept on the run.

.

.

.

*Bang!! Bang!! Crash!!*

The King Serpent wasn't giving up on crushing Diesel and Claudex, even with their successful attempts to hide in the forested land. Trees were violently uprooted by it as these two tried to hide, but of course, with no success.

"It is persistent," Claudex said.

"Our plan is a complete failure," Diesel said.

"We fail, we die! So you should try to be positive,"

The King Serpent could not find them, but it was still searching. They taunted it and it will pay them for making such a stupid move.

"How long are we supposed to keep hiding here?"

"As long as it takes," says Claudex in reply.

As much as she would want to, with the rate at which the King Serpent was destroying everything in sight, it didn't take too long for its reptilian eyes to find its prey.

"Ok, time to move,"

"We can't keep running backward, we'll just end up having to fight the Armor_Crocks. Plus, the Skycruel still has their eyes on us,"

"So what do you suggest?"

"We should turn back, we'll be able to make it back to the team and cross through our destination before that Mega_Snake uses us as lunch," Diesel says.

"Alright, new plan, we go back through another route,"

. . .

The hordes of limbless reptiles are still on a race for the first one to catch up to their tiny prey just a few meters away, and their numbers are increasing by the minute.

"This mission is a failure. Taking the biggest Snake away was not the right plan," Cassius said while still taking to his heels.

"Yeah, it seems like the only reason these snakes were in hiding was due to it. Now, that it has been misdirected, they can thrive,"

"But not for long,"

Just ahead of them, the terrified Diesel and Claudex could be seen heading their way at full speed, and behind them is that the King Serpent.

This is a very alarming sight to behold and the mindless snakes came back to their senses.

"They are retreating, follow right behind them,"

Baron, Allyn, and Cassius ran after the retreating serpents.

In minutes, they all went into hiding due to the presence of their adversary…

Setting its eye on a much bigger meal, the King_Serpent ignored Diesel and Claudex and chased after one of the retreating snakes. They all arrived at the cave that would lead to their location.

Happy ending...
