Chapter 27

Nothing could have prepared me for the sight that greeted us.

A tango of bodies lying on the floor. Three figures completely naked were moving in a synchronized rhythm, as their moans and grunts filled the room. A brunette girl sandwiched between two burly guys.

But that was not all it was. The room was filled with spectators deriving their own pleasure from the view in front of them. They were standing in a circle around the human tango, cheering them up or giving crude comments.

Some of the guys there were just watching the intercourse with intent, while the others had a hand down their jeans. Overtly fondling with their men parts.

I froze as the heat started rising to my cheeks. My treacherous eyes stuck on one place where it should not be. At the connection of that human tango. Even though all the noise, I can hear the blood rushing to my ears as my mouth went dry and I can only imagine how my eyes must have been looking like, popping out like saucers.

H...holy shitttt!

This is...What the hell? What is this?

But all those thoughts start fading away as my body tickled with awareness and I felt someone's eyes on me. I averted my eyes from the tango to see a guy leaning against the wall just opposite us looking at me with a raffish grin on his face. Doing iniquitous promises with his eyes.

And suddenly I was very aware of the fact that we were snooping.

Oh, no. This is not good.

I turned to see Cassie frozen in the same position as me. I grabbed her arm and shook it violently to bring her out of the daze.

"We need to leave. Right now," I whispered in her ears furiously.

She didn't look at me. Her eyes were still stuck on the place. "Y...Yeah," she stuttered.

I pressed on her arm to make a move and when she was displaced from her place, I couldn't help but take a last look into the room. But this time all the color drained from my face, shock gripping on my nerves and freezing me in place. Yet again.

I blinked and I was still seeing it. The girl in the middle of the two guys on the floor had turned her head to kiss the guy on the backside of her so that her face was in the clear view now. And even though I had seen her just once before. I had no doubt that it was HER!

Sophie!

Drake's half-sister, Sophie.

The Sophie he used to talk about, that she was a wallflower and so shy that she barely talked to him. Let alone come to a party like this!

Cassie tugged at my hand and I let her pull me this time.

Sophie! That was Sophie!

"You'll get us in trouble," Cassie muttered while dragging me with him. We were almost to the stairs when the door on the other side of the corridor opened with a thud and we both froze to the place like fools. When we should have run like a bat out of the hell from this place.

In the darkness of the corridor, it was impossible to see who was the person coming towards us. But whoever it was, was coming fast. Like he or she was in a hurry. We were in some light, so I knew that we were visible.

That whoever-it-was came straight to me and hugged me tightly. "Oh, I missed you this whole week!"

Wait. I know that voice. I looked again at the petite form with red hair hugging me and I recognized who it was.

"Kate!", I said wrapping my arms around her. I looked at Cassie over Kate's shoulder and she was confused.

When she pulled back, I pointed to Cassie. "Kate this is Cassie. Cassie, Kate."

Cassie grimaced as she said, "It is nice meeting you, Kate, but do you think we can step out and have this conversation. I feel like I'm going to throw up if I stayed in this place even for a second longer."

"Oh," Kate said, as she bit her lip and looked in the direction of the room we just came from, "Yeah, sure."

I think she knows what we just caught an eyeful on.

Does she know about Sophie too?

We went out of the warehouse together, all the way to the parking lot where Cassie's car was parked. Cassie leaned against the hood of her car. I turned to Kate and asked the first question that was bothering me most.

"Do you know, Sophie?"

What I wanted to ask was, does she do this frequently? Or is it her first time? A wild streak or something like that.

"Who, Sophie?", Kate asked shaking her head a little.

"Um. The girl up there, who..." I trailed off, not wanting to voice the threesome tango.

Recognition flared in Kate's eyes as she said, "Oh, that! Her name is, Lisa. Not Sophie. She is new in this city, as far as I know. Nothing else."

"Lisa?"

But I am pretty sure, she was Sophie. I saw her face!

"Yeah, Lisa. Why?", Kate asked.

"Do you know that girl?", Cassie asked next to me.

I masked the disbelief on my face with an indifferent look. "No, I thought I did. But apparently, I don't," I shrugged for a greater measure.

But, I am sure! How could it be?!

"What are you doing here?", Kate asked bringing my attention to her. And I remembered the task at hand.

"Yeah, well, I wanted to ask something about last Sunday night party."

She was a bit confused as she said, "Go ahead."

"Um, do you know what all did I do that night? As far as I remember, I was sitting with you the whole night. Was that all?", I asked cautiously as I don't want to reveal that I am a lost cause.

"I was pretty wasted that night myself but yeah you were with me," she said, and then had a thoughtful look on her face, "Now that I remember it more clearly, you went to washroom for a while. And it was more than a while. When you came back you were pretty disheveled. Like your hair was messy and all, with smudges on your face, I guess. And then you sat with me for a while before Drake came and took you to the dance floor. Then there was a rift between Cross and Drake for who-knows-what-reason and Cross took you out of the frat house. You didn't return after that."

A sob broke out from me before I could have even controlled it as I fell to my knees. Oh, god. I did. How could I do that? I planted my hands on the dirt ground as I tried to rein my emotions, to no avail. I was crying and shaking violently.

I cheated on Brian! I cheated! I cheated as my dad had on my momma. I did what he had done. Like Mrs. Bentley had said, I will just follow in his footsteps.

And I did.

I don't know what happened after that. What did Kate and Cassie talk about? Or how did they settled me up in Cassie's car? I don't know where I was. I was not with them or lost in my world. I was nowhere. Just numb as Cassie took me to my dorm room.

"I will make the appointment with my doctor for you," she informed me once I was settled in my bed.

Oh, well. That would not change the fact, will it now?
