After lunch, the four of them immediately came back to their classroom, with Paul waking Jake and Cherubim up. Thankfully, Jake's quite easy to wake up when he's taking a nap. Just as they entered the classroom, they saw the writings on the board.
| Minor Subjects Location
Breeding Class : Training Venue 1, Training Venues, School Grounds
Culinary Class : Cafeteria, Utility Building
Music & Arts Class : Library Lounge, Library, Utility Building
Paul guessed that Mr. Figg left that writing for them, as it was his handwriting on the board. The quartet talked with each other and agreed to meet up in the classroom right after their respective minor subjects. The four separated into two groups, with Amber and Jake heading to the Utility Building, while Paul and Steven went directly to the school grounds as they talked.
"Well, what do you expect regarding the breeder class?" Paul started a conversation.
"Hmm… I like to think that this could help me have more knowledge to take care of my Pokemon. Well, the future ones too if I'm lucky." Steven stated, a little bit melancholic.
"Hey, Steven. I know we aren't that close yet, but I would like to think I'm your friend." Paul's statement made Steven look at him directly. The both of them stopped at the middle of the stairs of the Class Building.
"Of course! It sounds ridiculous, but I feel like the four of us, Jake, and Amber included, have known each other for years. Technically, Amber and I are already-" Steven immediately replied, a little bit too quickly, but was stopped midsentence by Paul.
"Steven, you're mumbling." Paul pointed out as he gave Steven a stare.
Steven blushed as he avoided Paul's watching gaze. "I don't want you to feel that I don't treat you and Jake as friends." After his face cooled down, he finally looked back to Paul's stare. "To be honest, with my dad's position, it's hard for me to make friends as they mostly tried to approach me just because I'm the heir of the Devon Corporation or in order to be close to dad." He paused as he seriously looked at Paul, "That's why despite I'm always arguing with Amber, I take my friendship with her seriously. I'm also glad that I got to met you and Jake, as I could see that you really have no motive when you became friends with me, even though it's just been two days."
Paul coughed and averted his eyes, embarrassed, as he listened to Steven's serious explanation. "What do you call me? I never had friends before I came here. Actually, my parents brought me to gatherings with children my age, but they were just so dull, and I didn't want to interact with them. Here, I could meet my peers, though most of them hate me, I still got to meet people that are smart and could adapt with my pace."
He laughed as he told his next statement, "Actually, I have my motive on befriending you guys." Steven was confused why Paul was laughing. "You guys are the only ones closest to my age. It's just a bonus you got to like me too." Paul laughed directly, with Steven chuckling along with him.
The two started to walk again as Steven continued his story, "As I was saying, you guys are my friends." He replied to Paul's question earlier. "Why are you asking though?"
"Well, I'm not sure if I'm correct, but hearing from your earlier statement, it seems like you're hesitant about your future?" Paul asked as they came out of the Class Building.
"As I'm sure, you know, that the life of an heir is not perfect." Steven started, with Paul nodding beside him. "My dad expects me to be the future CEO of the Devon Corporation, but since I was little, I really liked collecting rocks and Pokemons. I didn't want to be constrained by my father's company, though it's the reason for my current comfortable life. I'm not quite sure how to deal with it, especially that we need to consider our future already, as we could only stay in the school for four years before stepping into the society." He finished as he waits for Paul's insight regarding his matter.
"We're not that different, I guess." Paul began. "My parents led a hard life before they became successful, so they're really doing their best for me not to experience the same things as them. That includes the hardship of other professions, especially a Pokemon Trainer. They want me to succeed their business, so that I could live a comfortable life."
He paused to chuckle, "Luckily, I'm quite talented, especially in studying, but my interest lies on Pokemons. My parents couldn't stop me pursue what I want. Still, until now, they're still waiting for my achievements and actions, to see if I have what it takes to be who I want to be in the future. So, we're not that different." Paul gave a grin as he looked at Steven, who was chuckling along the irony of their situation.
Paul finished his statement as he saw they were nearing their destination, "I told them that I'll do my best, and I would hold my future in my hands. I will show them through my actions that I could be much more than being an heir, who will live a comfortable life. I'm sure they were able to understand me, as they support me in enrolling at this academy. I'm sure your father does too, as this is a "Pokemon Trainers' School" after all. Just show him through your actions that you could be much more." He stated, smiling as he looked at Steven, as he directly went to their class venue. Steven stopped, thoughts running inside his head; but then smiled as he shook his head.
'The future is still long, after all.' Steven thought as he followed his friend.
"Hey! Paul! Wait for me." He walked faster as he tried to catch up with Paul.
"You're slow, walk a little bit faster. We're almost late!" Paul exclaimed as he ignored his friend and directly went to the Breeding Class's venue.
