The quartet was still able to practice for their practical exam for the Contest Class, despite Steven and Amber's bickering. Paul and Jake stopped involving themselves to the blue head and pink head's fights. After a while, the latter two got tired of arguing, thus they were able to start their own training on time after eating. They practiced mostly on the lawn, with each one of them commenting and helping the other as they performed their own contest routines and practicing Contest Battles.
The day after, the Contest's Class exam would be finally conducted. As early as a month in the school year, Ms. Hazel already told the students that they should prepare a Contest performance with either Water, Ice, Fire, and Normal type moves as the theme. They could either use their own pokemon, their parents, borrow a pokemon from the school, or from other means such as from friends and the likes.
The Contest Battle however, they will conduct using their own respective pokemons, so the quartet have been preparing for this for a while already. As they have seen each other's routines, the group of four has quite the reassurances on the final effects of their own performances, and things to watch out in order to avoid making mistakes.
Ms. Hazel brought the class to the Contest Hall at exact 8:00 a.m. to conduct the first part of their exam, the Contest Performance. All of the students from 1st year class would watch as one would perform their routine in order to prepare them in actual performances. Also, to avoid the occurrences of fearing the crowd in future performances. She let them initiate who would want to perform first, out of their own confidence.
Amber was the first who took the initiative perform, where she used a Spheal, whom she borrowed from her parent's friend.

Amber threw the pokeball encapsulated in a ball capsule with a foamy seal on it, on air. A Spheal came out in the air, with many little blue bubbles coming out. She first let Spheal use Rain Dance, which created dark clouds over the Contest Hall's ceiling. As rain descended on the ground, it pops the bubble effects, which creates a shower of blue powder. Amber then let Spheal use Rollout, which made the pokemon turn into a round ball and rotated in a circle which created muddy splashes, accompanied by blue powders along the way. After three rotations, Spheal finally became faster when Amber shouted "Spheal, it's time!".
Spheal made a jump while on rollout, in the middle of the performance grounds, thus made the pokemon jump high due to the inertia. As Spheal kept on rotating while being higher, she also casted the move Ice Beam, which created a cold fog over the stage due to the ice and the rain reacting to each other. As the fog faded away, a snow paradise was revealed. With frozen ice in the middle of the air, and on the ground, while snow descended, making the stage look like a Winter Wonderland. There was a frozen pillar in the middle, with floating ice surrounding it, looking like suspended Christmas lights.
Amber was showered with applause as she bowed on stage with Spheal, who jumped down from the ice pillar. Paul volunteered to follow Amber's performance when Ms. Hazel asked the class. After embracing Amber, and whispering 'Congratulations' to her ears, Paul went straight to the stage when it was cleared up.
Paul, of course, chose his trusted pokemon, Eevee, with today's Contest Performance. He first threw his pokeball in a ball capsule, with a star seal attached on it, on the air. Eevee came out of the pokeball with plenty small yellow stars surrounding her. As she landed on the ground, Eevee casted the move Baby-Doll Eyes while gazing at the audience, which made her have a sparkling effect mostly on her eyes and around her body. As "Awwws" were heard from the audience, Paul let Eevee start their performance. He shouted to everybody, "Let's dance!".
Eevee started dancing on the stage, in a seemingly pattern like way. Eevee's dance consisted of jumps, sways, and chants. While she was dancing, Eevee was also multiplying, evidently using the move Double Team. A school of Eevees were dancing, they eventually formed a distinct star pattern, which was revealed when Eevee stopped multiplying. They were dancing in a rhythm that Eevee herself chanted, "Evui… Evui~!"
Paul commanded, after the star pattern emerged itself, "Eevee, now!" Immediately, the Eevee star pattern was formed by beams of lights, as all clones of Eevee used Quick Attack. Eevee was in the middle of the glowing star pattern, along with two clones. Eevee, along with the support of its two clones tossed herself into the air. She soared high as she also used Double Kick to go higher. As she reached the peak of her jump, she immediately rotated herself continuously while using Swift.
This created a gentle cyclone of stars, revolving around the star pattern on the stage, as they traced into a spiral. The crowd was mesmerized, looking at the tornado made of stars. After Eevee went down and stopped casting Swift, the stars on the air still revolved on its own. She finally casted her last move, as she launched a large singular star into the sky, until it stopped mid-air, where it popped into dazzling yellow glitters in the shape of a large star. This also caused the surrounding little stars to pop at the same time, thus ending the performance, showering the audience with yellow glitters, and a large star shaped glitters suspended in the air.
Applause showered Paul and Eevee as they bowed. He could see Ms. Hazel smiling at him, a little bit wider than her smile earlier at Amber. He went down the stage and was immediately embraced by his friends who told him that he and Eevee did great.
The following performances were fine. Some were quite good, while some were disappointing or missing some spark. There were some acquaintances of Paul that performed well; Patty performing with a Buizel, Blair using a Ninetails, and Page's performance with a Jigglypuff. Jake performed using a Dewgong, who created a large pillar of ice by using an Ice Beam to its Waterfall move, which it also shattered by using Aurora Beam. Rainbow sparkles were created, showering the stage, ushering into another large applause. Steven also performed using a Quilava, which his finale was a long duration of flame wheel in the middle of the air while also using flamethrower. It was a spectacular sight, as Ms. Hazel was looking quite pleased.
"Congratulations, everybody. Some did better than I expected, while some did worse." She paused as some students looked a little bleaker. "Notably, I commend Amber Rose, Paul Crimson, Patty Pattinson, Blair Embers, Page Olives, Jake Azure, and Steven Stone, for their remarkable performances. Especially Mr. Crimson, for such a creative way of performing with his Eevee. It was a rather splendid performance, don't you think?" The class gave a polite applause as a response, though some did not bother to do so. She brought the class to the Contest Class no. 1 on the first floor of the Contest Building, in order to let the 3rd year Contest Class, proceed on their Contest Class exams.
"As it everybody's performance took two hours, and it's now, 10:00 a.m., I would pair everyone into twos for the Contest Battles. I would pick the pairs depending on similar strengths, as I've seen so far on your class. Also, as the number of students is odd, I would need one person to pair up with two people." She paused as she asked, "Would anyone like to volunteer? Anyone?" She swept her gaze across the crowd.
