Chapter41: What Is Fun?

~~~***~~~
She couldn't help but want to reach out. Reach out to the outside world where the girl was enjoying her life.
That is until she had noticed the fear in her face.
The fear in that girl's face as she went into another place.
She couldn't get close to the water.
The girl inside the house could see it clearly.
And so she couldn't help but frown.
"Why still stay there? You are scared, why are you still staying there?"
For the past days, they started interacting, they learned to communicate through writing in the window with their breaths.
The girl noticed that she had written something and after reading it, the girl smiled.
"Just as you said I am scared but where is the fun if I just back out because of being scared? acknowledging that you have fear over something means that you can overcome them. It doesn't have to be now. But as you keep going you will surely be able to do so."
Her reply baffled the girl inside the house.
Because within the confinement of her place she doesn't have to fear anything.
"Fun?"
The girl outside once again smiled, "Yes, fun. enjoy everything sometimes you will find out that you had fear in some of them and so overcoming them was part of having fun."
The girl outside thought for a bit, "What is fun for you? Reading your book? Moving around your house? Was that all there is to it?"
With this question, the girl inside the house ended up pondering.
What was fun for her?
After watching the girl outside she could no longer say that reading the book was fun.
That cleaning up the house was fun.
That simply being inside that house was fun.
Instead, she started wondering what is fun?
Slate waited for amethyst to calm down, as she simply cried and cried.
Both of them didn't feel embarrassed despite the fact that all of those who are present are giving them looks.
Looks of curiosity and as if they were weird.
He ordered another cup of coffee after she finally stopped crying. He added some bread for them to enjoy together with it.
"How many times have I cried in front of you now?" she couldn't help but chuckle as she thought about this.
She doesn't feel embarrassed because it already became normal for her to cry in front of him.
Slate just shrugged, "Just eat. All those crying made you hungry, I'm sure of it."
They stayed a little longer before they finally decided to go home.
"Are you planning to tell this to her?" he asked as he drove back.
She shook her head, "She knew I have trauma and that is more than enough. I don't want her to be affected emotionally even more because of my past. I didn't even plan on telling it to you. But because of what happened tonight where I saw more sides of Emerald, I just wanted to bring it out."
"They were your nightmares, weren't they? The first time I had you stay over our place. You had a nightmare and the question you were asking was why. I thought it was due to you being an author after hearing that story but what I heard now, it was about that wasn't it?"
She nodded her head, "That was the first time I had that dream again after so many years. I always dreamed about the incident of when we were children that I couldn't help but to have more fear."
"What do you think then?" he asked.
"About what?"
"About the future, will you be able to face them. If you are to return to your life as an author. It is inevitable for you to see them again."
She fell silent, seeing Emerald, she was fine.
But her parents?
Despite cutting ties with them, will she be able to meet them and be fine?
"I don't know," was her honest reply.
He nodded his head, "Don't ponder about it too much, we can't be sure of everything. When that time comes that you will have to face them, then you can ask for my help."
She smiled, "I will surely take you up to your offer, you had been my knight and shining armor for a while now after all."
"I didn't sign up for that."
She laughed, "I know but it just came to it."
He shook his head just as they arrived and parked the car.
"Do I look fine?" she asked pertaining to her face that cried so much.
"Go back and rest, she is surely asleep by now. Don't forget to ice your eyes so that it won't be puffy tomorrow. And once again proper rest, if you don't want her to worry," he instructed.
"I understand doctor," she said before bidding him goodbye when they reached her door.
"And Amethyst..."
She looked back at him.
"Tonight, you were beautiful."
She blinked her eyes a few times for after he said it, he turned to enter their own unit.
She pursed her lips before a smile she couldn't stop appeared on her lips.
After everything that happened tonight, two things were a happy one.
First was the fact that Emerald could no longer live her life while trampling on her.
And second, was the fact that she was complimented by Slate, who never did before. At the same time, he had smiled at her, a full-blown smile.
The very first time ever since they met each other four years ago.
'I couldn't be falling in love, could I?" she thought as she saw her face on the mirror where a smile was still plastered on her lips.
"What happened? The event shouldn't have lasted this long," Eduard asked when Slate entered the unit.
"Where's Scarlet?" he asked instead.
"Oh, she had already gone to sleep. She wanted to wait for you but she knew you would berate her if she were to do so that she decided to go to sleep and ask you tomorrow."
Slate nodded his head before sitting down on the sofa.
"She replied with a scripted one, it was obvious for me because I know the story. I don't know about the critics and the others. But that was enough for Amethyst to know that she will soon no longer be the shadow of her sister."
"That's good to hear, Astral was a wonderful author. Admitted it was a shame that she was not signed by our company. Though hearing the story, I am actually glad because we didn't sign a counterfeit," Eduard commented.
"Amethyst will surely be able to return and when that time comes, make sure she is in your company," Slate commented.
"Oh, what's this," Eduard smiled as he looked at Slate with meaning.
"Thank you for taking care of my sister, you can go home now," seeing his look, Slate stood up and opened the door for him.
"You really are not cute," Eduard shook his head and said.
He took his things and went to the door.
"Scarlet..." he started before going out of the door.
"She started leaving me things to do."
Slate nodded his head, "Her time is too short now. She knows that better because it is her body. I know she will do those things."
"Tell me if you need anything Slate, no matter what," Eduard said placing his hand on Slate's shoulder.
After he left, Slate went to check on his sister.
He entered her room and sat on her bed side.
"It is difficult Scar. Despite preparing it is difficult."
A tear dropped from his eyes as he gave her a kiss on the forehead before leaving the room quietly.
