Freya's distress

'Should I escape and take a rest first?' Ren thought, he didn't need to force himself. It's not like time is against him.

"No, at least not yet." Ren mumbled.

If he couldn't even take this much of pressure, he would have no chance of the upcoming events.

Ren while defending passively, looked at the surrounding to find a suitable place to fight and make the terrain to his advantage.

Ren didn't take long to find a narrow space in the grove of trees. He ran with a very fast speed, arrived at the narrow space.

This space has an advantage but also a disadvantage. Ren would not be surrounded on all of his sides but can instead isolate the monster beast and fight them one by one.

However, there are also no escape as the only entrance will be blocked by a group of monster beasts.

The trees were pretty hard so even if the monster beasts tries to take it down. It won't matter.

Ren doesn't know the exact number but he could estimate that there were already at least a hundred of monster beasts in the place. He was not dumb enough to fight until he is exhausted.

Although the monster beasts might not damage the trees, but it might be possible for his lightning sword. Also. He was not someone that would risk his life with uncertainty.

Ren was confident of his last card and that is his teleportation. If the situation persist and he couldn't take it anymore, he could teleport out of danger.

And just like that the monster beasts died one by one. There were also a lot of Flame Cats that could fit in the space. It was troublesome but there level of danger is not on par with the flame tiger.

His limit was tested at this time. Freya who looking at him from afar widened her eyes looking at the monster beasts that are visibly getting fewer in numbers.

She was like a statue observing, all of the monster beasts were afraid to attack her.

...

"It's over?" Ren sat down in exhaustion, he didn't know how many of them he has killed while the few that remained quickly retreated.

"I didn't think your magical reserves is this much, you could handle to last until now." Freya crouched to his side, looked at him tenderly.

"Hm, the recovery of my magical power is faster than I thought." Ren himself was also surprised.

"You should rest first." Freya smiled tapping her lap. She's offering a lap pillow.

"Don't mind if I do." Ren rested his head on her lap.

"Fufu, you were pretty cool." Freya chuckled.

"Change your mind now?" Ren asked.

"No, not one bit. I still want Ren to be cute." Freya shook her head with a smile.

"It won't be long... how many did I get?" Ren mumbled before asking.

"Around a hundred... 125 to be exact." Freya answered.

"Honestly, I didn't think that I could be this calm after all that killing." Ren spoke looking at his hand covered with blood.

The blood that keeps getting splattered each kill somewhat affected him, but he was surprised that it didn't take long for him to get used to it.

"You'll get used to it soon... and people will also die by your hands." Freya said with a serious look. She was not bluffing, in this kind of world, if one has no guts to kill. Then, he won't survive.

"You... your hands are already covered with blood, huh?" Ren looked at her. He wondered if this was still on earth and he knows that the woman in front of him has committed murder, how would he react?

Freya with an incredulous look spoke: "You... you hate it?"

She was afraid of his answer. Afraid to be hated.

Ren noticed her chaotic emotion.

"Hm, I wonder..." Ren grinned giving her a vague answer.

"What are you grinning for? I'm serious." Freya frowned.

"Haha. I didn't think you could act like this too." Ren stood up.

"Act what?!" Freya's voice increased.

"Distress? Don't worry, I will never hate you as long as you don't betray me." Ren stood up, kissed her forehead.

Freya widened her eyes as she touched her forehead. "Betray?"

"I mean, you should never go against me for a third party." Ren clarified.

"Ren, you're my master. I would always be by your side." Freya resolutely said.

"Your existence in itself is complicated, and I know that there are lot of complications in your life. Who knows, I could just be a puppet to fulfill your goal." Ren said with a complicated face.

In this world he can confidently say that he knows almost everything, but that 'almost' is such a big uncertainty. The Ancient War Series are one of them. The story never truly revelead their backgrounds, but who cares since it was a game.

But, right now, this world is his reality. Uncertain factors must be known and eliminated if they are a threat.

That's why since it was still not too late, no feelings were yet truly developed. Ren warned Freya.

"You're not a puppet and me being with you is sincere. I can promise that to you." Freya hurriedly confirmed.

"I know." Ren nodded. He can confirm it that much for the past six months.

"Then, why!?" Freya was so confused.

"Well, nothing really. I did say not to betray me for a third party. As if you do something wrong for your own cause, I would hear you out before judging." Ren grinned.

"What the hell?!!" Freya increased her voice, after calming down she spoke: "You... you're serious, right? I'm sure all of this talk was to prevent me getting close to other men in the future. Betray, what a way with words... you could've just say to be faithful or loyal to you."

"No comment." Ren invoked his right to remain silent.

"Humph" Freya snorted, stood up.

"'Third party'? Isn't it other men? 'I'll never hate you if you keep your loyalty to me and don't get close to any other men in the future' it's that simple, be direct. You just have to say it in that indirect and hurtful way that may cause discord.

What's more, let me confirm it to you. There is no grand schemes going on. You are my master, if you die, I'll die. That's why there is no way for me to betray you, get that thought out of your mind... Humph, I got worked up for nothing. Don't talk to me!"

"I'm sorry, okay? It was my mistake."

"Not talking."

"It was insensitive of me."

"Not talking."

"How can I make it up to you?"

"Not talking."

"How about we go to the city and spend the whole day there, overnight is possible."

"I... I... Not talking."

"Haha, then let's have a vacation. We can go to the ocean if you want."

"Ocean... Fine, humph."

Freya snorted.

"Nice! Well, I'm really sorry, okay?" Ren sighed. He admit that what he had done is not really good.

"Hm." Freya hummed, looked at the kid infront of her.

'Ren is serious, huh? For him to say it like that. I won't deny that I'm a bit happy. However, he's just a kid and this might be an impulsive decision on his part. It was said that a little boy's first love were usually his mother or the older women around him.

Wait, doesn't that mean he also love his stepmother. Humph, so I'm not the only one? Unfaithful and insensitive brat!'

Freya thought.

'Haaah.' Ren sighed in relief, inwardly. There were some truth as to what he said before, but the essence of the game was light hearted.

The chances of the Ancient War Series having grave backgrounds and purposes is close to nothing.
