ch. 5: to rescue & protect part IV

at this moment Beau and Joaquin are getting ready for the third herd of zombies. this time there are more zombies coming to the settlement than the last two times. Beau is sweating exhausted for all the fighting that he has been doing all the day. Joaquin is also running out of air. Dr Smith is walking with a limp behind of them.

Dr. Smith is using a thick branch to stay still. Joaquin asks him how did he manage to walk when he broke a leg and the other leg was badly burned. Dr. Smith shows off letting them know that he has a lot of healing poisons on his inventory and he used few to heal his legs. he admits that his left leg didn't heal much.

Joaquin asks him why he didn't left when he let him live. Dr Smith laughs and he explains that he isn't the type to run away. he isn't afraid of dying a second time after all a mortal's existence only has meaning when death is present at every step a mortal takes. he laughs like a maniac while he gets a weapon out of his inventory.

the weapon that Dr. Smith is holding right now is a flamethrower. he smiles at Joaquin who is open-mouthed salivating at the look of the gorgeous flamethrower on Dr Smith's hands. Joaquin asks him if he lets him touch it and Dr. Smith tells him that he doesn't allow anyone to touch his baby, only he can hold such a delicate baby.

Joaquin is almost dying of jealousy looking at such magnificent weapon. Beau takes a medieval weapon out of his inventory. Joaquin takes a crossbow out of his inventory. they are ready to fight together against those fucking zombies. the tension is so tense that the three of them are sweating.

"any famous last words before parting ways to hell's hell."

asks Dr. Smith trembling nervously.

"that is a good question indeed. I usually say something like 'I don't want to die virgin' as a symbol of protection against death but if I am actually going to die then I want to be remember for a better choice of words something like 'suck my chew-stick dry' probably."

said Beau trying to think of a good catchphrase.

"just let me understand. how on hell your virginity has anything to do with living or dying?"

asks Joaquin trying to understand him before dying.

"have you ever seen a horror movie? is well known that if you are a virgin you are immune to death. don't give me the bullshit that horror movies and reality are two different bitches. because as far as I am aware getting trapped on a game was a thing of anime or manga and oh hell here are we stuck on a mother-freaking game."

said Beau ignoring the fact that the zombies are closer.

"fair play. then suck my chew-stick dry it is."

said Joaquin giving up on logic.

they didn't notice that while they were arguing Dr. Smith walked directly towards the herd of zombies. they can see many zombies burning and they hear the screams of Dr. Smith who is being surrounded by hundreds of zombies.

"let's help."

they hear louder screams and then there is an explosion that killed many zombies and many more are still alive (technically) burning to ashes. the show is too graphic to keep watching. Beau throws up and then he covers his eyes. the majority of the zombies are ignoring them and walking inside of the settlement destroying everything in their path.

"I can see it now, the power that virginity hold."

"I told you. let's go."

at the moment the Mad-Matician is walking behind of Hero Teacher who is dragging himself inside of the cafeteria. Hero Teacher is badly wounded and he can barely move. it might be true that unlike the others he can't die in this world but it sure hurts like hell to die in a virtual world. Hero Teacher looks up at the ceiling waiting for a miracle to happen and waiting to be saved by a friend.

Mad-Matician takes a gun out of his pockets and he puts the gun inside of Hero Teacher's mouth. Mad-Matician asks him for the whereabouts of Choco. Hero Teacher has been beaten up so badly in the last hour that he isn't even able to talk properly. he is not going to betray his friend because he knows that they can die.

Mad-Matician pulls the trigger killing him (not really because he is not an Offering) he turns around to see Choco-Coco-Latte in the entrance of the cafeteria holding an assault riffle. Choco shoots and Mad-Matician tries to hide but the bullets are faster than him. he falls on the floor and he drags himself towards the backdoor. he is bleeding a lot.

Mad-Matician laughs drastically as he is running away by using the backdoor. Choco-Coco-Latte smiles with the smell of blood and gunpowder. he walks slowly following the blood trail with a grin on his face (he thinks he is some kind of Villain from a slasher movie) he looks at Mad-Matician far away from there.

Mad-Matician always saw Choco as a weakling unable to care for himself as the others were always there for him but he never expected to see this side of him. he never expected to see that murderous intent on his face. it was clear now that he wasn't been taken care of for been weak but for been dangerous. they weren't protecting him from the world but they were protecting the world from him.

Mad-Matician falls on the ground and he looks at the two bullets on his left leg and the bullet on his side. Mad-Matician turns around to see Choco-Coco-Latte standing in front of him. Mad-Matician laughs hysterically awaiting for his eminent death. he closes his eyes while he tries to grab his gun from the ground. he opens his eyes to see Choco holding a hook and he nails the hook under Mad-Matician's jaw.

"I had an encounter with hopelessness and many other feelings.... I fought the darkness within me when I lost the most precious person to me. I was lost in a lonely place when I was saved, my soul was saved by my two friends who were always at my side. but then you took away that little hope. is my turn to show you how despair looks like."

said Choco-Coco-Latte feeling frustrated.

Choco pulls the hook tearing apart part of Mad-Matician's jaw. he falls on the ground screaming feeling an inhuman pain. Choco-Coco-Latte was about to end his life when out of nowhere someone hits him in the head really hard. Chco falls unconscious. Quick Kill-Man was in there to help his comrade. Quick Kill-Man helps the Mad-Matician to stand up and he guides him out of the settlement.

"I... h-h-hurt. I, no m-m-m-ore l-l-long-e-e-er."

"that is enough sir. I don't think you would be able to speak ever again. but you are not dying today. the weak died but the strong become stronger."

they leave quietly. Choco opens his eyes. he stretches his right hand hoping to be able to catch him but he doesn't even have the strength to stand up. he closes his eyes feeling the defeat but he doesn't give up. there is hope of a second opportunity for revenge on a near future.

two hours ago; Doctor Middle Finger is feeling anxious. Organic Florist isn't sure if he would be able to stop him if he tries to leave again. the silence is becoming even more uncomfortable while they look at each other expecting for the other to say something that can make this moment a bit less awkward but there is no success.

Doctor Middle Finger is a coward and he is also weak but he is too loyal to let his weak body or cowardice get on his way. the problem is that he knows that Organic Florist is right about him getting in the way instead of been of any help to his friends. even when it is painful to him he has to accept it before he commits a mistake for forgetting his reality.

Organic Florist is not a man who understands words like mercy or sympathy. he is a man who understands the meaning of doing whatever it takes to live and a man who only talks to others like him who are strong or who do whatever it takes to survive. this is the first time that he sees as his equal someone who is weaker than him. he is afraid that if he coexist with someone weak it might affect him in the future.

Doctor Middle Finger stands up and he walks towards the door and he hears a lot of shooting and yielding. he turns around and he search in his desk for some card games to play with Organic Florist in the meantime until all the chaos is over. Organic Florist tells him that he wants to play Bingo or Loteria (which are technically the same just one is the American version and the other one the Mexican version.)

Organic Florist tells him that instead of betting for money or valuable stuff he wants to bet for telling secrets, something personal or shameful memories of the past. this is meant to be a fun game used as a pretext to talk about the past and to get to know each other better after all they are going to be comrades soon.

Doctor Middle Finger accepts with a fake smile trying to cover how much he hates to talk about his personal life. Organic Florist tells him that he isn't forcing him to anything. Organic Florist explains that the only thing that he wants is to build some trust with him after all a guild can't be if they don't trust each other with their lives. Doctor Middle Finger knows that but not everything is meant to be remember.

"we all have secrets that we prefer to keep to ourselves but eventually everything comes to the light. I know better than anyone how troublesome can be the past that is engraved in our memories."

"thanks for understanding."

they play Loteria but this time the loser has to drink a shot of tequila. Doctor Middle Finger puts three bottles of tequila in the table to make it clear that they aren't stopping until one of them or both are completely drunk. they play with excitement thinking that there is no need to stop the game.

after forty-seven minutes a bottle was empty. Doctor Middle is already feeling the weight of the liquor while Organic Florist is barely feeling tickles. Organic Florist asks him if he wants to stop but Doctor Middle wants to keep drinking until they faint.

on the actual time; Beau is running away from the zombies. every time that he kills one or two another four follow the sound of the bullets and at the moment they are about twenty zombies following him. Beau looks at Mad-Matician and Quick Kill-Man in front of him. Beau takes a riffle out of his inventory and he shoots twice. Quick Kill-Man falls on the ground. Mad-Matician looks at Beau and he tries to run away from him.

Beau shoots at some zombies. he runs as fast as he can trying to stop Mad-Matician who is about to escape from there. Beau is so tired that he can't keep running at that level and he starts to run slower until he is eventually walking. Mad-Matician can feel the victory on his hands. out of nowhere Joaquin steps in front of him and he shoots twice wounding him in the chest. Mad-Matician falls on his knees. Joaquin goes for Beau and he takes him inside of a cabin. Mad-Matician in being surrounded by the zombies.

Mad-Matician yields denying his mortality. he refuses to accept that he is going to die at any moment. the zombies are close to him. he screams in horror asking for mercy and help but there is no one to answer to his pleading for mercy. Mad-Matician cries as he accepts that there is no escape. the zombies are eating him alive as he yields so hard that his screams stop sounding human at some point.

at the moment on the underwater cave. Don-Savage is running holding the hostage there is something following him but he can't look behind because he is too afraid to look behind. in front of him are Peace Inn and Chicken Wrath guiding him to the exit of the cave. Self-Bet and Alpha Purple Warrior are already outside of the cave.

Man with no Face is still fighting the Hydra. he is too tired and he is not sure if he will make it in one piece. he jumps on top of one of the heads and he stabs it while another head throws fire at him. he jumps on the ground and he stands up. the only thing that he has on his favor is the fact that the cave is small in comparison with the Hydra. the Hydra can't move freely and only two or three of its heads can attack at the time.

he takes a shotgun from the ground and he shoots at the eyes of the Hydra. he walks backwards and he looks at a barrel of explosives. he drags the barrel. the Hydra moves abruptly causing the cave to tremble. Man with no Face lights a match that he throws inside of the barrel. he runs as fast as he can and the barrel explodes causing a cave-in. Man with no Face barely escaped the cave. the Hydra didn't die but the entrance was sealed making it impossible for it to escape.
