backstory: a couple's story part I

His Past:

Doug Hill, he is your average guy. he had a crush on a beautiful girl on middle school, he was rejected and humiliated. ever since then he was bullied by others. he started to have a fear to girls, especially those who he likes.

every time he talked to a girl. he will get so nervous he will acted awkward. he just accepted that romance wasn't his thing. he forgot about dating. he will have some wild fantasies from time to time. his life was okay. nothing extravagant.

with time Doug became more awkward. he will spend more time alone. he was on his last year of high school. he was thinking about his future. he had so little to do, and so much to hope for the future. life can be like that.

one day Doug found himself walking at night. he then looked at this girl on the road. she was on the floor bleeding. it seemed like a hit&run. Doug walked towards her carefully. he tried to make sure she was still breathing. he trembles fearful.

she had long black hair. her eyes were barely open, on the darkness was hard to tell the color of her eyes. she was wearing a white dress. the blood on the floor, with the light of the moon, it made it look like red wings. it was hard to see her face properly.

"excuse me... excuse me ma'am. are you alive?"

asks the fearful Doug.

he kneels. he puts his fingers on her neck. he tries to make sure she isn't dead. he feels a extremely weak pulse. she opens her eyes. she was crying. it didn't seem like the physical pain is the cause of her tears. it was something else, it was emotional damage.

Doug was in shocked. he had never before seen an angel crying. he felt a strange pain on his chest. he felt guilt for her pain, even when he knows he wasn't the cause. he takes his phone out. he calls the emergency number.

after talking for five minutes. he puts his phone down. he cleans the tears on her eyes. he lets her know the ambulance is on its way. he decides to wait with her. he couldn't leave now. not knowing that a wounded angel is crying.

"angelic lady. why do I feel so hurt by your pain? is it normal for mortals like my self to be affected by an angel's sorrow? I don't want you to suffer, be brave angelic lady. be brave, that there are hundreds of wonders on the world for you to see."

said Doug with a stupid smile.

Doug was about to stand up. she stops him. she holds his hand. she puts his hand on her face like trying to feel his touch. he feels shaking chills. he feels something on his chest making a strange sound. he felt a physical pain described like, heartbeats.

he blushes so much, his face is completely red like an apple. he trembles as his hand feels her face. he can't see it, but he can feel the face of the angel. he swallows saliva, he tries to pull his hand. when he sees the pain on her face, he was mummified by her visible sadness. he kept touching her face with his hand.

Doug smiles like he has never done it. he felt a strange warmth on his heart. he felt like he was walking on an unknown land. he felt all types of emotions at the same time. he can almost swear he saw flowers, butterflies even. why not?

he felt like the world could end. and nothing is going to change. he could keep touching her face forever. just to feel such a pleasant electrifying sensation. he may be seen as a creep by others for touching a stranger's face, but there is an excuse. he didn't wanted to see her crying. he wanted her to smile until the ambulance arrives.

"oh, you sweet beautiful angel. oh, fallen angel. oh, how is that I never felt anything like this before? there is no doubt, I am in the presence of an angel, a sad sorrowful angel."

said Doug as he describes the experience.

he could hear the ambulance coming. he pulls his hand away from her face. he isn't ready to be called a creep on the news. he walks away from her. he stands on road waiting for the ambulance. there comes a police patrol. he talks to the police officer.

later he went to the hospital. he felt the need to know if she was okay.

for two whole weeks he would come to the hospital. he would stay in there. his only purpose was to make sure she was okay. he was the only one, no one else ever dared to visit the wounded angel. no one else came to see if she was alive.

Doug thinks about how lonely it must be, how sad it has to be. for the only person who cares to be a stranger. a man you had never before seen. a man who doesn't even know how your face looks like. it has to be the saddest and most lonely thing ever.

after another two weeks, he was familiar with the doctors and nurses. they knew him as 'the nice quiet guy'. he always came to the hospital, asks about the angel, then he would wait for two hours. then he will leave promising to return.

at the 48th day, she finally woke up. she was confuse. she had no idea why she was on a hospital room.

Doug was told about her waking up. he went to her room. he opens the door carefully. he enters with a small smile. he is holding some pancakes he bought on the way. he looks at the wounded angel. she is confuse to see a stranger.

Doug gives her the pancakes. he explains that he was the one who found her. she looks at the pancakes. she thanks him with a fake smile. Doug understood what that meant. of course she doesn't care about some random guy. what an idiot.

he is about to leave. he turns around one last time. to see her face more clearly now. her eyes are light brown. her hair is bright black. her lips are of a light bright pink tone. her skin is white almost pink. she is gorgeous.

"I knew it. I am such a pathetic loser. how can I be affected like this by a stranger. what is wrong with me? fuck, I better stay away from humans like I always do. I hate humans. that is why I only communicate with animals and flowers."

said Doug as he walks on the streets.

he went to his home that day. at night he was thinking about the night he saw her. he couldn't stop having strange dreams. he could see wings growing from her back. the wings were red, wings made from her blood.

then he would see those deep sad eyes. blood tears falling from her eyes. the thorns crown on top of her head. she used a goat horn to call for more angels. the calling kept happening. but no one came to her, no one came for the angel.

the earth became a black liquid. the earth started to swallow her slowly. she looked around for help. no one came to her. at the end there was no trace of the angel. Doug woke up from the nightmare. he was sweating. he felt an immense pain on his heart.

her past:

Katherine Smith or Kat, her nickname.

she was always popular for her beauty. and also for her nice personality. she had a normal life. normal family. a normal everything. even a normal boyfriend. everything on her life was perfect, because it was normal.

one day Katherine was having a stupid argument with a friend. they fought for nothing. another friend warn her about her best friend. she saw her talking to Kat's boyfriend. Katherine ignored her friend.

her best friend has always being there for her. they had being friends since childhood. Katherine trusted on her friend and boyfriend. she stopped talking to the other friend.

one day on a party Katherine was drinking. she went out of the house. she saw her best friend and her boyfriend kissing. she couldn't believe it. she stop talking to her friend. she broke up with her boyfriend. he kept trying to 'explain' what happen.

"you are fucking lying. I saw you with her. you were touching her. you were kissing her. don't fucking lie to me anymore."

"no, that is not what happen. please let me explain. she kissed me. she throws her arms at me. she is the one who provoked me. she is the villain of the story. I am the victim."

those are the last words he said to her.

Katherine never ever talked to him again. on school they started to talk behind her back. they created all this lies about her. they became the perfect couple, and she became the outcast. people kept talking about her. people kept ignoring her.

her perfect normal life. it became an imperfect normal life. she tried to keep her head up as she faced everyone. she became lonely for the first time on her life. she didn't had any more friends. they all are fake friends. they all turned their backs at her.

there was an incident, in which her ex was expelled from school. Katherine ended up on a hospital with some serious wounds. everyone heard about it. her former best friend left school after some more controversy. this time about some videos of her drunk.

Katherine went to another school. it took a year for her to forget all the drama. this time she kept herself away from others. she didn't make many friends. she didn't speak to other people. she kept herself away from others.

her new school is quiet. there is no much happening. she felt happy to be in this school. Katherine notice a strange guy, a guy who avoids people and who talks to animals. she saw him once talking to a flower. he is super strange.

she is on her last year of school. everything is boring. everything is lame. it is now that she discovers something, she never liked her normal perfect life. it is not like she liked the drama that came, but normal & perfect isn't a good blend of words.

is her life going to be more normal? is there anything awaiting that isn't normal or common? is this how life is suppose to be?

the more time that passed. the more she searches for something uncommon. she started a relationship. loyal wasn't a word to describe him. stupid isn't either a word to describe her. then came the next relationship. boring and sad. the next one, she didn't felt anything then. she forgot about dating.

for some strange reason, she keeps looking at the strange guy. she hides to hear his conversation with flowers or animals. his speech can be super creepy at times. he seems like a defenseless moron. she avoids talking to him directly.

there are times that he sounds like an edgy-lord-teen-with too much imagination. well, that is probably the most accurate description of him. at first she didn't know why, why she payed too much attention to him. now she knows. it is because he isn't common.

it is not like she fell in love, nor anything like that. he was just an exotic animal to her. it is how you look at an animal, when you haven't seen before anything of that species. there are other 'exotic animals.' more none common people she watched from far away.

"everything is so common. there is nothing spectacular about life."

said Katherine as she walks on the dark streets.

"you ruined my life. I am to take vengeance bitch."

screams someone on a raincoat. that person is too far away to be visible.

"Karen? is that you bitch?"

yields Katherine.

she curses Karen. she screams unaware of the car. she looks in front of her. a car was coming towards her. it is so fast she doesn't have time to run. in seconds she saw her ex's face clearly. that is the last thing she remembers.

she can hear Karen making Isekai jokes before leaving. then there is a gentle voice. somehow she remembers that voice. she opens her eyes to see a guy. the guy seems to be worry for her. he talks to her with a gentle voice that gives her peace.

she woke up on a hospital. she remembers parts of what happened. it all seems so far from reality, it all seems like a big bad nightmare. then she sees a doctor. she talks to the doctor for two minutes. two hours after the doctor left, a guy came inside.

he has bright green eyes. he is short. he is like 1.68 cm. for a guy that is bellow normal. he is so skinny, so skinny he seems fragile. he speaks with a friendly smile. he leaves some pancakes on the bed. she is angry, it is not him. it is her ex.

the strange guy left. Katherine was later told that he was the only one to visit her. he came every day at any time. he came even on really bad weather. to visit a stranger is not strange, but to visit for almost two months.

after Katherine woke up, every fake friend came to visit. they all came with excuses. I was working, I was visiting a family member, I had some personal stuff. they all came with the most basic excuses. none of them was original.

strangely enough. the one person she wanted to came back, didn't visit again. how ironic isn't it? he came when no one else came, now they all came, all but him. again it isn't romance, well at least not now. it is just a person's wish to not feel alone.

another day came. she finally was able to leave the hospital. she went to the police. she told them about the incident. then she went to her home. it was another normal day. nothing new, the same old shit.

"I am curious, what is he doing right now? the strange guy who talks to animals. why he didn't visit anymore? was it because I am safe now? or is because I woke up?"

those are the words on Katherine's mind.

it took her about an hour to finally fall asleep. she couldn't stop thinking about the night of the incident. on her dreams there was a gentleman talking to her. a nice guy holding her hand as he speaks to her. he talks with a gentle soft voice.

"please don't leave me. hold my hand."

yields Katherine on her dreams.
