the roads can lead to any place. the hallway is the doorway to all places. any possible outcome is foreseen before hitting the road. jet one must go.
don't ask questions. just drive with the wind. let the destiny to be the compass marking the location and time. destiny is nothing less that a steering wheel. any form or shape of caution is less than a seat belt that can break. hope runs at the speed limit.
on the left is a grey-haired man. a man who seems younger than his actual age. for a man of his age, if you look closely you can see few muscles. he is wearing a brown suit. he has a modern hairstyle. he has a well-groomed beard.
on the right is a young male on his mid-thirties. he has long unkempt dark blonde hair. he has a disheveled beard. he has deep green eyes. he has some pink glasses on. he seems to be skinny. he is probably around 5'9.
the driver is no one else than Ryker Wright, yes that Ryker. for a writer he has a lot of time on his hands to take care of a secret organization/club. and to do odd jobs too. the other person is no other than Luther Miller. well that is how he looks on real life.
[information about Characteristics of Players/Offerings: some Offerings look similar to how they used to look on real life when they turned into Offerings. but there are many who don't look a lot like their real bodies. there are some who look completely different.]
Luther is eating a chicken sandwich. it has pickles, mustard, mayo, habanero pepper, spinach, jalapenos, and tomatoes. he eats with a huge smile. in each bite he can feel the love and care of each ingredient. it looks simple, jet it taste like perfection.
"did you bought the mustard and mayo somewhere before coming."
"no, those are homemade. an uncle from my mother's side. he used to travel around the world and he had many recipes for dressings and seasonings. his mayo and his mustard were exquisite. oh mate you have no idea."
"for how long had you being living on the states."
"many years now. my accent is mostly gone. from time to time a word or two come to my lips. I like living in here, but it isn't like my homeland. sometimes I think about going back home. about returning at least just to die in there. if I die it has to be on my home. I want to step on the soil. see those old familiar face. and that is pretty much it."
"we are all like that. I ain't either from this side of the world. in fact I had step and lived in many nations, on different timelines, and spoken different tongues. the memory is the saddest reminder of our times, of the past and gone days."
Ryker is remembering times of the past. days that are forgotten with time. the world may forget the important details of the past, but those who lived on the past won't.
Luther has being working with Ryker for about two years. it isn't so bad, it isn't that good either to be on a foreign fight. a battle between Deities. a struggle in which mortals don't belong nor should be dragged to fight. a struggle Luther hopes to end soon.
the road is dark. there are lights here and then. there are people coming and leaving. some with clear direction, others with no specific destination. some will arrive sooner, others won't ever arrive. some may find their objective, or won't live that long to find it.
there are some people running to find their lives, others running from them. there are some with no idea that they are living. others pretending to not even be alive. and like that life keeps moving forward. life an invisible force pushing forward the plot.
there is no peace for the innocent. there are sweet dreams for the wicked. there are fun nights for the lustful, or dreadful filth for the pretentious. there is a dream in every child, one per every nightmare on an adult's mind. a nightmare eating all your sanity.
don't pretend to understand the world at night, at night you can barely find yourself. there are roads at night. roads that won't open on the day. roads exclusive for lustful souls and rotten bodies. there are roads with no return.
the road has an especial brightness at night. the silence almost sounds poetic. the world seems to be another. from a far the stars shine like spectators. they are silent witnesses of our actions. the brighter the night, darker the soul.
Luther drinks one of those beers without alcohol. he laughs as he keeps drinking. for most the reason why a person drinks beer is the alcohol. for Luther is for the flavor. he can't deny how much he likes that bitter taste. it taste like life, bitter.
Ryker isn't much a man of liquor, but not even him likes beer without alcohol. the last time he drank liquor was for a especial time, it was to celebrate. now he doesn't feel like drinking any at all. he is fine without any drop of liquor.
the reason why these two are on the road is simple. there are on a mission. they found the whereabouts of a storage, a big one with important objects. it is now or never. it is time to see what Hunter found before dying. what can be important to the enemy.
Ryker puts some music on. his choice was salsa. Luther looks at him trying to understand the singer. he doesn't understand anything at all. he seems to be truly confuse with the lyrics of the song. he can feel the emotions of the singer.
Ryker explains the song; it is about a boy named Simon. a boy who was born different, he wanted to be accepted by a father who didn't like different. the boy leaves home. and just like that the father is told his son died, he died for STDS.
Luther doesn't find any comfort in that explanation. what kind of music is that. he then looks at Ryker in hopes of a deeper explanation. Luther asks if there is anything else. Ryker looks at the hallway as he drives. he then looks back at Luther.
"what do you expect? life is life. death comes for all loved or not. the song is about how tragic life can be. you don't need to expect love nor others to change before death comes. thinking about the 'WHAT IF' doesn't make any change at all."
"thanks for keeping my hopes up, before you mutilate them, and then step on them. don't you want to add salt to the wound? or is that all it is to see."
"you can't expect flower to come out of your ass. no matter what you eat, shit will always came out. life has to be a sadistic bitch, before it can be beauty and peace."
"keep listening. I won't ever ask what the song means."
"I know we are on the road. there isn't much to do, but make sure to be careful and cautious of everything. our destination isn't a peaceful one. we are going to have a confrontation with the enemy. there are no breaks nor restarts. if you are not watchful of your actions, then death will come to take your soul. just a simple warning, okay?"
Ryker has lived longer than most mortals, he has seen more things on his long life. there are many things to be said. he doesn't see himself as a wise man. jet he tries to learn from his mistakes. and he also guides others for the right path.
Ryker has seen a lot of death. but even so he tries to saved as many lives as possible. the more he lives, the more he tries to save and protect lives. there are few secrets to his life and existence. there are stains on his past.
Ryker has few scars on his skin and soul. but after so long he haven't lost his hope, he has hope for humanity's survival. he prays to the forgotten Deities, or to Pagan Deities in hopes of receiving an answer. in hopes to be informed about humanity's victory.
there is so much that is on risk. there are so many things on danger. Ryker is definitely good at heart, but he isn't naive nor ignorant. he knows that to save something he has to take lives with his own hands. he has to stain his hands of blood.
Luther is bored and tired. the world becomes too dark at this hour. the night is colder than darker most of the time. it has this sense of loneliness, or solitude. Luther is nodding as he is between falling asleep and staying awake. he feels so sleepy.
it is hard for Luther at times. it is hard to get use to the life on the human world. he has spend too long inside of that damn game. he spend to long dealing with danger. at times he forgets that he is out. that he is free from those dangers.
the human body and mind adapt to survive. all creatures need to evolve and adapt. that is the only solution they are given to live. now out of that environment of danger. now Luther feels strange. he feels like if he doesn't belong anymore on the human world.
Luther wonders if it is only him, or does this happens to others. he wonders if he is just strange for not being able to belong. or is a common thing to happen to humans. wherever he looks at. there is this constant feeling similar to be lost.
Luther takes an electronic cigar out of his pockets. he starts to smoke. Ryker is looking at him wondering if that shit is good or not. Ryker has never tried an electronic cigar.
Luther notices that Ryker seems to be curious. Luther has another cigar on his pockets. Luther asks him if he wants to try it. Ryker keeps looking at the road quietly. Luther laughs and he tells him about the different flavors. he keeps smoking.
"I am not an addict to this shit nor anything alike. I just smoke when I am nervous to feel more tranquil. or I smoke on times like today. I was feeling sleepy, the action of smoking is keeping me awake."
"make sure that your gun is loaded. also try to stay at my side all the time. and don't forget to stay awake. this life is one full of corpses, I don't want you to be one of those corpses. you have plenty of years to live."
"sir how long before we arrived? I am barely awake. right now I am on a huge struggle to stay awake. I don't think I can stay awake another hour."
"don't worry. if the GPS isn't lying. we have another two hours and forty-two minutes. that is plenty of time to take a siesta."
Luther finally gives up and just closes his eyes. it didn't took long for him to be asleep. Ryker whistles as he keeps driving. the night can bring surprises to all. now every noise becomes loud. even the smallest noise from outside can be really loud.
Ryker thinks for a moment about something. a piece of his past, a memory that he had almost completely forgotten about. a memory that has to do with another time. with another side of him. a time that ended long ago.
Ryker changes the music. he decided to listen to some bachata. he sings with a small grin written on his face. the world can change as mach as it is allow to change, but the music will always be the same. the music was created to last as long as humanity lasts.
the night is long and dark. but even the most profound darkness ends eventually. there is always a light, a torch to end darkness. tonight's dark night becomes brighter with just a little bit of music. that is why Ryker never fully loses his hope on a tomorrow.
