William & Don-Savage part II

the heat has become tolerable. there is a trail of corpses. the road is clear and specific. every detail has a purpose, every piece is on the right place.

the lonely journey of two, now is the peaceful journey of three. Willow has become a guide and a compass for the other two. she is a light on the darkness. Willow is unable to express her extreme happiness, the peace that brings her brother by been alive.

Willow can't believe how lost was Don-Savage. instead of walking for a whole day, they need to walk for a whole week. he walked further instead of closer to the city. even with a map he can get lost easily. at least he is alive.

William isn't aware of what a NPC is. he doesn't know about his true nature. but deep inside of him, he can listen to his instincts. he can tell that they are different. at some point he will need to walk on his own journey. he will need to say goodbye to his friend.

Don-Savage is aware of the path he has to take. he knows what will come after. he isn't precisely a good guy. nor is he shy about the darkest things he has done on the past. probably on a not so far future, soon he will need to go back to his old ways.

Willow receives a notification to a side quest. she accepts. four Giant Zombies come forward holding chains and machetes. the Giants seem to be hungry. Willow smiles at the two gentlemen. she takes some weapons out.

William gives two steps back. letting Don-Savage and Willow to take care of the Giants. William finds a chair to sit down. he watches the show. while the other two do the dirty work William has time to even drink some tea. he closes his eyes for some minutes.

Don-Savage and Willow finish killing the Giant Zombies. they get some rewards. the three of them keep moving. they stop at times for some minutes. then they keep moving once more. there are many zombies on the way.

"can't we leave this guy behind? I mean he is basically useless."

"I know he is useless. but he is my friend. he has been at my side for so long. without him I might had gone mad."

"first, that is injurious. second, I can hear both of you clearly. and lastly third point, I can be a charming companion."

William, Don-Savage, and Willow are part of a long journey. they are unaware of the many possible zombies on the zone. all the dangers awaiting for them. the Giants aren't the strongest enemies, they are weak in comparison to other enemies.

William is holding his walking stick. he stops moving. he looks behind. it is like if he could see or hear something. there is horror written on his face. William knows that something bad is about to happen. something will go wrong.

"run....run...RUN...RrrrrUuuuuNnnn."

"what? I don't understand why are you screaming."

"they are coming. now is too late to run."

there is some sort of explosion. all the buildings around explode into many pieces. something falls on top of William. he falls on the floor. he is still conscious. he can't stand up for the weight on top of him. he bleeds from his head.

Don-Savage is on shock. he doesn't know what to do. he looks back at his sister. she is pulling him away from there. he then looks at William. he didn't needed to use words. with one look it was all clear. William wanted him to run, to leave him behind.

"I can't. do I really have to leave you behind?"

"there is only one way for you to live. now run."

Don-Savage and Willow run. more buildings keep exploding. William loses consciousness. Don-Savage runs without looking back. he regrets leaving his friend. but right now his sister is more important. keeping her alive is his duty.

there are building falling around of them. some structures falling in front of them. there are parts on which the floor itself falls. Willow and Don-Savage are jumping around. running from one to side to the other side. death is two steps away from them.

there are some zombie birds following them. Don-Savage shoots at them with a pistol. the zombie birds are absolutely annoying. the birds go around of them. it is hard to kill them all at once. they are about ten dozens of zombie birds.

a tall building falls in front of them. Don-Savage and Willow get on top of the building. they walk on top of it. they are careful enough to not fall. as they keep moving zombie birds and zombie rats seem to follow. it becomes harder and harder to stay alive.

a rat bites Willow on her heel. Don-Savage decides to carry her on his shoulder. he runs as fast as possible. at the end of the street there is something shiny.

Don-Savage keeps running until he stops in front of a car. he gets his sister inside. he gets inside of the car and drives. he feels something wet on his left side. he touches his left side and sees blood on his hand. he was hurt while running and he didn't notice.

[personal announcement: William sends a message, "Goodbye buddy. I hope we can find the opportunity to walk on the same path once more." end of the message.]

"that bastard is alive. holy damn. for one second there I was worry for no good reason." said Don-Savage as he laughs.

while driving Don-Savage crashes against a tree. he is unconscious. Willow takes care of Don-Savage's wound. she then starts to drive. now with a car the journey will finally become much shorter. they will arrive on some hours.

Don-Savage trembles deep inside of a nightmare. he is shaking abruptly. Willow feels bad to see this version of her brother. the side of him that is tormented by his past. the part of him that is eaten by his mistakes, his wrongdoings.

Willow keeps driving. she looks at this world carefully. there is something especial about the world to which they now belong. beauty and ugliness belong together. and maybe, just maybe every single broken human belongs here. maybe this is home.

Willow drives for a while feeling lonely. she tries to put some music on. there are no more wild side quest, nor anything alike. the road becomes quiet and peaceful. there are few zombie every now and then, but nothing outrageous.

Don-Savage wakes up feeling anxious. he looks at his sister. he hugs her. he feels relieved to see her safe. to know she is doing much better. it is good to see her. it is great to be able to protect her once more. both siblings together again.

Willow and Don-Savage talk about things of the past. they talk about the good, and bad things from the old days. Don-Savage laughs like a child. for a moment he is able to be his old self, the boy with goodness on his heart. and not what he is now.

Willow is eating some candy. she looks at Don-Savage. she reminds him that candy use to be their favorite one. they use to love eating that candy. Don-Savage looks at the candy with bitterness. there are so many memories in just a piece of sugar.

"there are things that are better on the past. there are things that are romanticized by our memories. so I am not sure if I ever liked that candy much."

"you probably hated that candy. but you always had time to eat one with me. the candy itself doesn't matter. what matters is what it meant to us."

"you are right. those where simple times, but lovely days. we won't ever experience anything like that. all that is left is the memory of those days."

"that is okay because we were happy then. we are still alive, so there are new good memories we can create. nothing is impossible in life, all that is impossible is because we never gave it the possibility to be possible."

"since a really young age we were left alone on the world. we only had each other. I had to fight against many struggles. I had to fight for us. it is a consolation to see that you are a good person. that all that effort wasn't wasted on a false illusion."

"you don't have to struggle alone anymore. I am old enough to protect myself and to protect you. there are also others who you can seek for help. it is time for us to put our faith on our friends."

Don-Savage smiles feeling hopeful. there is a tomorrow, a brighter tomorrow awaiting. it isn't time to give up, it is time to stand up once more. it is time to fight with all of their strength until the end. let's hope for a better outcome.

Willow is drinking a coffee to stay awake. she has many hours to drive. she can't let her brother to take the steering wheel. he is still wounded. Willow looks outside. it is already pass midnight. she is feeling tired.

Don-Savage takes a cigar from his pockets. he bites it. he is looking outside. he says hello to some zombies. he closes his eyes as he feels the air caressing his face. there is a huge white round moon above them. a huge bright moon.

Willow asks a personal question. it was about Ed's past. about the days when he use to come late home with a scary grin. about the days when he used to smell like blood. the good brother didn't answer. he looked at her quietly. then there was a deeper silence.

"you don't need to know about those things."

"I am your sister. I had all the right to know about my own and only living family member. we share blood and tears. we share the same past. so I have all the right to know about the things you did to keep me alive on those days of dread."

"I am sorry. I wasn't the best brother. I could had done so much better."

"don't be stupid. you were the best sibling I could ever had. you did what you were suppose to do and beyond for me. you sacrificed your own health and mental stability for me. you wasted your youth for me. you left behind the one person you ever loved and rejected the possibility of having a family of your own for me. you are the best brother and you did your best. don't deny your struggles nor the reason behind them."

Don-Savage looks at his sister with teary eyes. he cleans the tears with his hand. he tries to fake a smile. then he looks away. all the struggle, all the pain, all the wrong deeds he left behind.

there is so much for what he feels shame. he feels ashamed of his bloody hands. but he will never deny the fact that he felt pleased. he felt tranquility, he felt at peace every time he looked at his sister.

it was the fact that she was alive, that she lived because of those bloody actions. the blood on his hands was the reason why she was safe. why she kept smiling for years. so he can't deny how grateful he was. he took lives to keep one single person alive.

maybe Willow may try to understand him. maybe she can accept his past. but he doesn't have the heart to confess about those actions. about the many lives he took, he can't admit that he is a murderer. not to her, not to Willow.

Don-Savage doesn't have the heart to confess his biggest sin. the worst of all sins. he can't tell her that he is the one who took his life, the one who murdered Hunter. the one person she ever loved. the man who is still to this day on her heart.
