about Nine Months Ago.
Joaquin, Choco (Karl), Master of Lies (Federico), Chicken Wrath (Luther), Lord Golden Ass (Beau), and SELF-BET (Leah) are taking on a Special Event.
the rules are simple. Today is Saint Patrick's Day. there are leprechaun zombies running around attacking on groups on a green field.
their task is to locate the bags with gold coins. they need to take the bags and bring them to a certain location. in there a family of farmers will take bags full of coins. they need of those bags to survive. they have a limit time to find and bring the bags.
of course the zombie leprechauns won't allow for anyone to take their gold so easily, so they will fight for it. it sounds simple enough, but is it?
Joaquin doesn't fully trust Federico. ever since Federico returned, he has been suspicious of every action he takes, and every word he says.
some may think that Joaquin is been paranoid. others may argue that it is his duty as the leader to be watchful of those who may be a danger to the team. Joaquin tries to forget about Federico for a second. he talks with Chicken Wrath.
"to be sure, what on the eleven hell are we searching for?"
"Bronze Ass are you stupid or a retard? Gold. something with tons of gold."
"ok. Chuck'o, you don't have to be an ass hat. I get it. I am slow, so what?"
"Beau and Karl what're yu two? five years old? we are on a task. it may be a Special Event with some serious lack of imagination, but a task is a task. pull it together boys."
"yes boss/leader." said both Beau and Karl on unison.
the instructions about the Special Event sounds simple enough. but no Special Event is ever simple. there has to be some trick to keep things 'Fun.'
Event Rules: every player that takes part on the event is allow to do whatever necessary to mess with the other teams. there is also a limit of bags of coins. again nothing can be too easy, or simple. that isn't fun enough.
from far away they are observe by Rotto and Bird-E (under a creepy mask.) there are other lesser known/important people at their side. their leader is a familiar lesser villain who like a rock keeps coming (some one who past away on the present time.)
there is some familiarity here and there. this probably was one of the few times on which everyone was positive about their future as a team. they felt unbreakable, they felt united as they walked together.
it was one of those few times in which they all felt connected. there wasn't any mistake nor accident on the beginning. it didn't felt too hard. everything pointed towards a positive outcome to have. but things weren't as simple.
the world can be like that. sometimes you feel like everything is in order. like everything is on its rightful place. and then there is a huge BANG. and then soon after everything gets fuck up without tail nor head.
but all of that is for later. all that negativity should be told on another chapter. today's chapter on their lives isn't about all the things that can go wrong. no, its about another time in which they still had hopes and dreams.
Chicken Wrath is drinking soda. he gives a bite to a sub he is holding on his other hand. he eats like if nothing was happening. while the other teammates are searching everywhere for the damn Gold coins.
Joaquin looks at Chicken Wrath and asks him what the hell is he doing. Chicken Wrath answers by saying, "you need a watcher, to look out for the zombie leprechauns." there was some pride on his words.
the grass is tall. it touches part of their stomach. there is something green with a grayish tone moving slowly on the grass. Chicken Wrath notices right away. he screams letting everyone else know that they aren't alone.
"remember boys. don't be scare. a leprechaun or not, it is a zombie. we had killed thousands of those before. don't let your guard down."
there are times in which Joaquin takes the leadership and it sounds natural. he is not a bad leader or anything alike. but most times that not, he is overpowered by insecurity. self doubt leads to failure.
"it is hard to see them. those little shits are good at playing games."
Joaquin looks at Beau, who keeps talking without stopping. "oh great, he is scare." Joaquin thinks as he looks in front of himself. he starts to think about what he needs to do to keep them all save. they are too expose on the field.
then out of nowhere the leprechaun zombies jump. there are about eight of them. everyone took their weapons out before. they all eliminate the zombies on seconds. Joaquin and Federico are looking at the corpses.
the leprechauns are about a meter tall. they are wearing some clothing. their skin color is green with a grayish tone. they all have animal-like appearance. it has sharp fangs. some large sharp claws that could cut flesh easily. they are ugly, kind of creepy.
Joaquin is holding a shotgun. he looks at an old cabin some miles away from them. he can notice that there are plenty of zombie leprechauns coming their way. in less than ten seconds he makes a choice.
"let's take shelter on that cabin over there. it will be safer than to walk on an open field."
everyone follows Joaquin without questioning him. they walk as fast as possible. the leprechauns feel to be getting closer to them. Joaquin shoots a few times. he then recharge his shotgun without stopping.
Federico is holding two revolvers. he shoots only when he feels like the leprechauns are getting too close to them. carefully he counts every bullet. then when he feels like the guns are getting empty, he reloads it on seconds.
Chicken Wrath keeps eating and drinking as he runs behind everyone else. he was so distracted that he forgot to take his weapon out. he drops his food by accident. he tries to use his inventory. but its blocked for the especial event.
Beau gives a small dagger to Chicken Wrath. he has one of the coolest looking weapons on the whole game, but he has to use a rusty dagger for now. Chicken Wrath feels lightly offended. and he is to blame for that.
there weren't that many leprechauns on the beginning. but at some point there are like twice or four times as many. Federico takes his electric whip out. he turns carefully and on a second he decapitates about seven leprechauns that were jumping towards them.
Joaquin gives his shotgun to Chicken Wrath. he passes some bullets to him. Joaquin grabs his machete that he had on his belt. he starts cutting the leprechauns that are coming in front of him.
behind Joaquin runs Karl, he handles his bastard sword like if it was a light toy. with no difficulty at all he cuts more than one leprechaun on half. there is some determination on his eyes to keep them safe. but even on crisis she still appears in front of his eyes.
the phantom of the past comes like always. Karl is unsure if she comes to add extra difficulty to his duty, or does she comes to give him hope? it is hard to say. all Karl can think about is doing his job right. to stay concentrate on the job.
"Leah there is something I had been meaning to tell you for a while."
"right now isn't the right time Beau."
"but if we don't talk about this now, then never will be the right time."
"in that case shoot. what do you think is so urgent now."
"I know you haven't been so sure about "US," and I get it. I'm afraid too. but I love you, I ain't sure about you, but I can tell that you may feel the same way about me."
"wait. Beau, we have an audience right here."
"do you want to be my wife... I mean girlfriend, and then one day my wife."
"let me think about it."
"yes, of course. I love you. I LOVE YOU LEAH."
Joaquin regrets every advice he ever gave to Beau. he is too stupid to understand complex things like his advice. but somehow he is happy. in the middle of all chaos, Joaquin can find something to laugh about.
Chicken Wrath starts to laugh loudly. then he starts to mimic Beau's words on a tone that sounds like mockery. Chicken Wrath isn't like that usually. but he finds amusing making fun of Beau.
Beau looks away. he doesn't take his eyes off the zombies he kills. Leah whispers some hopeful words on his ear. Beau smiles as he keeps slaying leprechauns. he starts to picture himself as an old man holding Leah's hand on the real world.
everyone is starting to feel a bit tired by now. but they seem to be close of the cabin. again the number of leprechauns just seems to be getting bigger. by now they are curious if they will get tired before the numbers of zombies ever gets down.
"up boys. we're almost there." yields Joaquin.
he is trying to keep them all motivate. Joaquin is the most tired of them all. but he tries to keep himself together. as a leader he has a duty. he uses even more strength on his machete at every hit he gives. there is no stopping now.
Karl keeps thinking about other things while fighting. mostly those other things are about the ghost that keeps haunting him. about what could be, but wasn't able to be. all the future that was gone, when she left.
the more Karl thinks about the past, the more he blames himself for it. it wasn't his fault, but accepting the true won't make it better. it will make it hurt even more. to him, it is easier to just blame himself for everything.
there are times in which Karl asks himself if she would be better, if he was never there. what could had been her life. her graduation. a career. and probably some kids. there are many questions Karl has asks himself, but there is no way of knowing.
finally they all arrive in front of the cabin. Leah and Beau are the first ones to get inside. Joaquin guards the door until everyone else is inside. then he gets inside of the cabin. it is a bit dark inside.
Beau turns on a candle. then everyone is dumbfounded as they look at two whole barriles full of gold coins. now it makes sense why there are too many zombies. they wanted to protect their gold.
Beau and Chicken Wrath get some coins inside their pockets. now they only have to wait for the right time to leave with the gold.
"we'll get a short break to breathe. then at my signal we leave the hell out of here. questions? well then rest as much as you can."
no one dares to question their leader. Joaquin knows what is best for the team. Joaquin gets on the floor. he puts a hat on top of his face. then he takes a siesta.
Federico looks at everyone feeling sadness. he is going to betray them eventually. he likes them as friends, family. but his duty to his actual family is greater. he knows that someday they will become his enemies. rivals. he will be their nemesis.
there are many things on life that are unpredictable, and jet there are plenty of times in which everything is written on stone. there are things that are meant to be no matter how hard to try to deny it, or ignore it.
your destiny. your fate are things that can't be change with an eraser. those aren't things to ignore or overlook. what is meant to be will be, and what isn't won't ever be.
