it hasn't been too long since the six of them got inside of the cabin. it has become so dark after just twenty minutes.
each of them has hidden on their stuff an equal amount of gold coins.
as it becomes silent outside, it feels like a proper time to leave. Joaquin is the first one to leave the cabin. not long after he is follow by Luther, Federico, Beau, Leah, and at last Karl runs after them
they try to be discrete and fast. the most minimum noise can attract the Leprechaun Zombie's attention. every second counts to lose or win the event.
there is a disturbing noise that shocks them. soon after they take their weapons out as they start to run even faster. it is obvious that the noise was provoked. what they don't know is that it was Oblivious Soul-Rage's doing.
Joaquin easily cuts in half a leprechaun. he looks at the others. they are no longer battling with a handful of leprechauns. the issue is that there are many more coming on their way right now. if they keep fighting at this beat, it can truly become dangerous.
it isn't the strength of the enemies, but their numbers what becomes a challenge until reaching the point of exhaustion.
Joaquin drinks an energy drink. he can tell that they are been observed by others. Joaquin is thinking if he should concentrate on the leprechauns alone, or if he should be extra careful with the intruders watching them.
even when Joaquin is a NPC until certain degree. he is able to participate on Events, Quests and Duels. but he can't participate on anything that only requires of one or two team members. and he may be force out of the battle after reaching the final phase.
on this world there is a limit to how much freedom is given to a person like Joaquin. but if he becomes a player/ offering once more. then he will recover his rights as a human.
Karl steps on top of a leprechaun. he looks at the corpse. Karl is so broken from inside. and jet he looks so well on the outside. he may be one of the strongest players on the game in general. he is easily on the top 10.
strength is not all on a world like this one. brains and tricks are also necessary to live. and there are many other important factors.
Beau and Leah are walking together. Beau isn't sure if she likes him, or if he is just a friend to her. Beau is concentrated on his inner struggles while ignoring what is happening around of him.
Federico looks at the head of a leprechaun. there is some blood on Federico's face. he can't believe how much he has changed since his arrival inside of the game. he can feel a connection with the other humans. Federico even doubts about his plan.
there is no need to hurt them. there is no need to betray them. he keeps telling himself those words trying to convince himself of forgetting the past. sadly the world refuses to listen to Federico's words.
Joaquin takes a bottle of liquor out of his inventory. Luther grabs Joaquin's hand. he tells the leader that it isn't the time. Luther truly wants to help the boss, but does the boss wants to be helped?
Joaquin tries to overcome his addiction. but it keeps coming to haunt him.
they all have personal issues that become rocks on the road. they depend of themselves to either overcome the obstacle, or to give in to their weakness.
Joaquin breaks the bottle of liquor. he looks down on the ground. he tries to remember all the times that he failed to his family. he needs to become a better person not just for himself nor the guild, but also for the memory of his loved ones.
Joaquin cleans some tears from his face. he keeps fighting like there is no tomorrow. the battle becomes less theatrical as the night becomes darker. Leprechauns are basically blind on the darkness.
Luther takes a pack of cigars from his pockets. he takes one cigar. Luther places the cigar on his mouth. he bites the cigar feel the bitter taste of tobacco. tobacco doesn't have a pleasant flavor, but it helps Luther to feel alive. Luther isn't much of a smoker.
Luther feels a spear stabbed him from behind. Luther turns around. there are many Leprechaun Zombies throwing spears & rocks covered on black fire. those ugly monsters are giving a hell of a welcome and Luther likes it.
Beau drinks a bottle of beer. he drops the bottle on the ground. the sky is dark, the stars are as bright as it has never been. it seems like the event may end soon without much trouble on the road.
Leah knows that soon she will need to enforced the task that was given to her by the leader of the Executioners. at first she took the task with no doubt nor questions. but now her emotions for Beau are getting on her way.
Federico looks around of the territory. the Leprechauns aren't following them anymore. finally they can walk more at ease. there is more tranquility now. he looks at the others. Federico doesn't want to hurt them. sadly, he has more important things to do.
Joaquin walks on front leading his herd. he doesn't allow himself to become weak. Joaquin has to be strong for the greater good of their guild. he needs to push away every damn weakness, as much as he needs to pull all his strength to stay sane.
Karl is walking on the tail. a mile away from everyone else. from behind he can watch their every movement. Karl stayed on the back to protect them. to watch over them. Karl can feel a phantom's hands caressing his face from behind. a tear falls.
Chicken Wrath starts a conversation with Joaquin. Chicken Wrath is only trying to make sure that the leader stays concentrate on the event. if he ever loses his mind, then he must be replace by someone suitable for the position.
they all had been walking for a long while.
they are not so far from finishing the task. there is some uncertain wonder and fear on the air surrounding them. there is a doubt and four questions at every step.
they take a twenty minutes break. they eat. use the woods as a bathroom. then they keep moving without slowing down. there is so much more to do. the special event isn't important nor absolute. they won't die by not finishing the event.
even so it brings them closer to the victory to complete events. each event gives an aid to be ahead of others. in this world everything counts. even the smallest detail.
from far away Oblivious Soul-Rage watches their every movement. he isn't too worry on completing the event. what he wants is to see others struggle on their own self-pity.
"am I the only one who is actually thinking about staying here. I am not so sure that I can go back home. am I even miss or remember by anyone." said Chicken Wrath as he drinks a beer can.
"you are not alone. I have my own reasons to feel resentment towards that world. rage for my past. disgust against life." commented Karl.
"I lose my child and my wife. what else can I have there? who else can be awaiting for my miserable return." whispers Joaquin as he looks down at the ground.
"I can't give an honest opinion as I am getting ready to establish divine judgement towards those who wronged me on the past." affirms Federico.
"I have nothing to say." Leah tells herself.
"I want to lose my virginity. I want to have kids and get married. there is a hell lot of things I wish to do once I am back to that other hell hole. and most importantly than anything on the world. I am dying to taste the flavor of a real pizza once more."
everyone is looking at Beau.
they all laugh. the journey is as long as it was five minutes ago. there is just more light illuminating the path. there isn't much to lose nor to gain. and the world is the same. it haven't changed that much.
some people don't have a place to call home. others don't care anymore. it doesn't matter how dangerous or cruel this place can be. sometimes that is better than to return to a hole on which you had find yourself before.
at least there is some sort of comfort on certain areas of this world. there is some satisfaction in knowing that you aren't the only one suffering here. there are many things that represent something better on this side.
the cause of this effect can be found in different factors. but mostly is the same for most of the people in here. it can be that they just became used to this aggressive and lethal environment. or it may be because they all are strangers.
there is no one in here to know about your tragic or comedic past. there is no one who knows the real you. they all are strangers that pretend to know each other. you can be whoever you wish to be in this side.
sometimes dying for nothing and becoming another forgotten skull, is better than to live to be forgotten on a sea of failed dreams.
you can bleed from inside. you can scream. you can defy the universe itself. but there will never be an absolute answer. not even a drop of salvation on that other world. at least on this side there is some sort of hope.
so for some even if they lose. even if they are meant to be background characters. there is some brightness among the possibilities. so to die on a dark cruel world of magic and dreams turning real. that is what is ideal.
how to judge those who dream of the eternity. when we all secretly dream of the same melancholic and poetic things. virtue is not found on those who dream, so we all forget about dreaming as we age in search of that mythological virtue.
that is how we are as humans. there is where they are as victims of their own mistakes. there is nothing more nor less to discuss. to accept that we all become animals following human ideals is not the same as to admit. so we never admit it.
for the rest of the journey there are some leprechauns here and there. there are some other type of zombies here and there. but none of those zombies is a real menace. none of those creature brings danger to the table.
as they keep moving. the six of them become closer. they don't fully trust on others about their most secret and private secrets. but they help and believe in each other. and at some point they arrive on the indicated location.
they look at the tiny houses of the farmers. they still have two more hours. now that their victory has been secured they walk with more ease. they even joke around as they keep moving towards their objective.
Joaquin knocks on a door.
he turns around to see a huge group of leprechauns coming. they are surrounding every farmhouse on the area. this opens the door to the probabilities.
"why the extra labor? we don't even get payed for it." yields Beau out of frustration.
"everyone stay sharp. all we have to do is to protect the farmers and deliver the coins. those leprechauns are nothing in contrast with all the shit we had tolerated so far."
they all invoke the best of them. each of them drinks more of one energy drink. they take out their best weapons. the leprechauns come closer. the farmers stay hidden inside of their homes as they cry.
this event better be worth it. because they don't know what they will do if all that effort is wasted on nothing. then there is a scream of war.
