A pale-skinned boy with messy black hair opened his eyes to a very small and run-down room. It had one window across the bed, which was in the middle of the room, with printouts and posters stuck on its right side and writing in paint on the left with the name 'ryu' in capital letters.
Ryu got out of his bed and began to stretch the knots out his back caused by his soft mattress. He stopped minding it as such became part of his everyday routine. He left his room and ahead of him was the door to the bath. He walked in and stood in front of the miserably looking standing-shower and toilet in the not only narrow bathroom. He ran the shower and stepped into a burst of cold water, only to wash washes his hair and upper body. He grabbed a cloth that hang from the door of the shower where his uniform hang as well and dried his averagely-built body and began to dress up. His uniform was a black blazer with what seemed to be goldcrest on the left breast area, a white shirt, and deep charcoal grey trousers.
Ryu left the bath fully dressed in his high school uniform and proceeded to the door at the end of the short corridor. He pushed the door ever so carefully to prevent any noise but tiny screeches from the rusty hinges still escaped. He peered forward to the gap in the door to see his father, young brother, and sister. They were all piled up onto each other on one large mattress fast asleep. Ryu simply smiled at this sight.
After all, they were one of the few things that brought color into his life...
He walked to the apartment's living room, which was connected to a small kitchen that stood on the left side of the room. The room had a small dining table on the kitchen side, and one single sofa across from the large and old TV that was centered in the living room. It wasn't an open-style room by design, but rather because the place was too small to have all those things in anywhere else in the house.
He picked up his messenger bag as well as the TV remote from the dining table and walked into the living room. He stretched out his arm and pressed the power button on the remote repeatedly, but nothing happened. He slightly smacked the remote against his palm, and tried turning it on, but again to no avail. He was forced to turn it on using the buttons on the TV set.
#NEWS REPORT ABOUT CONFLICTS IN THE SOUTHERN CONTINENT#
As soon as it came on, it landed on a news channel at full volume. Ryu quickly turned what seemed to be a volume dial and reduced it. He then turned what seemed to be a channel selector dial, changing the station.
#WEATHER REPORT ABOUT SEVERAL HEAVY STORMS AFFECTING WESTERN CONTINENT#
He turned the dial again.
#DISCOVERY OF VARIOUS ARTWORKS FROM THE ERA OF THE "GODS" #
After seeing nothing but news reports, he turned it off, causing the only sound in the room to vanish. Leaving only silence in the room. Ryu stood quietly enjoying and hating the silence.
Ryu left the Apartment building and walked to the Central Train station. As always, he would get onto the Inner line train, which took him to his school, an area close to his school to be more specific.
After what felt like an hour, he got off the train and left the station. He began walking until he reached his school's gates. The school had these long, towering walls that stretched several meters, as soon as the main gates came into his field of vision, he noticed one of his only friends in the school, waiting for him, as she usually did for him. She started to wave at him as soon as their eyes met.
She was a tall and slender girl, with straight, flowing pale blonde hair which reached her shoulders and was never tied up. One could immediately notice that she looked more elegant and beautiful than cute and lovable, as most girls her age looked- With a somewhat 'unapproachable aura' around her. Her name was Mila. She was what you would call the school's flower.
She unhurriedly walked towards Ryu, cheerfully smiling. Just as he was about to return the smile he looked around and noticed cold stares aimed at him. It was only natural that he would be the object of hate from both genders in the school.
"Why do you always get to school late on Mondays sleepy head?" Mila asked in a giggling tone.
"I tried to watch the news this morn---" Before Ryu could finish, he felt someone put their arm around his shoulder.
"Mondays are always a drag. I'm even tempted to sleep in, as soon as I see that it's Monday." Said the boy who had just arrived.
Mila burst into laughter with the boy, and Ryu could only awkwardly laugh in an attempt to join the laughter. He was a taller (taller than both Ryu and Mila), dark-haired boy who had one side of his hair parted. He was what you would call a 'pretty boy' and his name was Toshiko. He had dark and full eyebrows as well as thick eyelashes, which were the highlight of his perfectly designed face.
"We need to head to class before Laveda calls for attendance." Said Mila, as she started to walk into the school.
The three got into their class, which was on the second floor of the school and they sat by their respective desks. Ryu's was at the back of the class, right next to a giant window pane, that had a view of the entire schoolyard.
He turned to look out the window and stared at the sky, completely covered in thick grey storm clouds which blocked out all of the sun's light and left a grey tint on everything. It was as if the sky reflected what was in Ryu's heart.
"Ryu. Ryu. Ryu. Ryu!" Called out their class teacher,
breaking him out of his trance-like state. Their class teacher was a tall beautiful, not handsome man. It was in all senses true that he had an effeminate charm, while still maintaining his manliness. He always wore designer clothes, and today he wore a dark-blue, paisley-patterned waistcoat over a black shirt and black trousers. He had higher cheekbones, as well as a perfectly symmetrical face, complemented by the ponytail of his dark purple hair. His name was Mr. Laveda.
"Don't forget to collect the class's permission slips for tomorrow's trip, and tell everyone not to leave until the storm passes. Don't want any cases on my hands." Said Laveda as he dismissed the class and walked out.
[School ends]
Ryu walked out to the main gates and before he could leave, he heard his name, he quickly turned around looking for who was calling him. Only to see Mila yelling for him from their class's window.
"You forgot to collect the permission slips from the class, but it's okay I took all of them to Laveda for you." Yelled Mila.
"Thank you! I'll make it up to you tomorrow!" He yelled back.
After a few steps out of the school, it started to rain, and not just rain but a complete downpour. Ryu started running towards the train station with his vision obscured. He arrived at the station in the nick of time, but the doors to the station were closed and the area was completely empty. He looked around to see a bright red electric sign by the station entrance that read:
[The outer line train has already departed. Next train ETA, 2 hours. We apologize for the inconveniences the weather has caused.]
He decided to run back to the school for safety from the rain. He held his bag over his head and charged into the rain. As he ran in the pouring rain, he started to make out a figure.
"That couldn't be a person. It can't be." Ryu thought to himself as he gritted his teeth. The more he ran, the more clearer the figure became. And it was a person walking right in the middle of the road. Ryu stopped running and started to look around, right behind him were large hazy lights from what looked like a truck. He turned back and began to shout,
"There's a truck! Get out of the way!"
But immediately he shouted, he realized that the sound of the truck was drowned out by the rain. Ryu just started to run towards the person, even faster than before. Once he reached the person, he jumped to push them out of the way and they both landed in a puddle.
Ryu got up and opened his eyes to a beautiful older woman below him, their eyes met for only a second, and as soon as they did he jumped off of her. All while the truck zoomed past them. Ryu stretched out his hand to the woman and she grabbed releasing a light grunt, and to his surprise, she was completely dry.
She bent over and picked up her coat which fell during the tackle and started to dust herself off, highlighting her short hair, which was about neck length, with a partition on the left – Almost looked like the way Toshiko does his hair, is what he thought to himself.
She wore a traditional black kimono with a red floral pattern, accompanied by the white leather coat she hang around her shoulders. She then turned to look at Ryu.
"Well, hello. I suppose I have no one else to blame for this predicament but myself." She said letting out a light chuckle. "You saved me and for that thank you." She finished with a smile followed by a bow.
As she said these words it looked like the grey tint the clouds caused disappeared, and the sun came up. Its rays reflected off of all the buildings in the area's windows, as well as the puddles the rain had formed, and they all seemed to meet at one particular point, the woman. It was a spotlight in the middle of the day.
