The first one came off of his high as he heard Ryu's question. He raised his hand to his mouth and started to bite his nails. Ryu continued to watch the first do things he had never done in his life, and to him, all this behavior felt foreign.
"Where does that leave me?" Ryu repeated.
"Quiet, I'm thinking." Said the first one in a loud voice. "In the meantime, ask another question." He said, lowering his voice.
"Okay... You called it the time authority, and because you said we don't have a complete authority, what can we do with it then?"
"Time and space authority. We can't use it as well as that man, ugh you don't even know who he is. Regardless, we can alter very small details in the present, create loops, slow down time for a few seconds, spatial storage, and create tears in space allowing us to move through space, in other words, teleportation." Answered the first one, taking his finger out of his mouth. "Oh and warping space, but it's only limited to a room."
"That's a lot for just a quarter of an authority." Ryu said in amazement.
"It is. But as I said, it's just a quarter. The abilities are limited."
"Did the same man teach you how to use the authority?" Asked Ryu.
"No, Laveda did. After weeks of refusing to tell us anything, a day after the bombings he suddenly decided to loops us in on who we're actually fighting. And that day all hell broke loose."
"Ar uses that word a lot, no wonder we picked it up." Said Ryu, letting out a light laugh.
The first one turned his back to Ryu and fell silent.
"Why do the gods want us dead?" Ryu asked.
"Because we're a threat to them" The first one answered quickly, seemingly distracted. "If you don't know that much, you're probably from after the house." He mumbled under his breath.
"I know that much, but in what way?" Ryu pressed.
"Fatless can become gods, that's how. It's basically a high stakes game of cards, but our opponents decided to get rid of our cards before the game could even start."
"By having us killed..." Ryu added.
"Correct." Said the first one.
"How can we become gods?"
"The very way we get authorities." He answered as he moved to take a seat. "The only existence capable of killing a god is a fateless."
"You can't be serious. We're supposed to kill gods!?" Ryu asked hysterically. "Wait could that man and woman- "
"Hishe and Chao-Xing?"
"Yes them, and Letifer or even Laveda, could they be gods?"
"Oh no," He said while laughing. "At least the first three aren't, and Laveda's just an odd case I know nothing about. Those three aren't gods, but they are retainers to gods."
"Meaning they carry a portion of an authority from which ever god they serve."
"Yup. Don't be fooled by the whole master-servant arrangement, they are stupidly strong. The only reason you survived in 0 was because of Lars, I still wonder why he showed up."
"Uhuh… So as Enacia states four gods rule over the four domains of the world. Firstly people." Said Ryu as he paced in the cart.
"Wealth, luck, relationships just to name a few. Which is a pretty scary authority If you think about it. The ability to rule over a concept that we say exists or doesn't exist yet see in our daily lives." Added the first one as he flailed one hand and stared into space.
"Secondly, time and space."
"Past, present, future as well as the perception of both time and space. Which is pretty scary-"
Ryu stopped pacing and turned to look at him, "I get it. You don't have to break down how scary each one is."
"Okay." Said the first one as he raised both of his sand signaling surrender. "The next on the list would be the god of life."
"Basically, the god of creation, the supreme one and the father of all. He split a part of himself which then became the other three gods."
"You recite Enacia's scriptures as if you believe in them." Said the first one as he raised his head to meet his eye line, and smirked at Ryu.
"I may not completely believe, but dad did." He said in a low tone as he finished his last sentence. "But everything we're going through now is proof that the gods are real so maybe all this is happening because… I didn't believe." As Ryu reached the end of his sentence he fell silent.
"The same way you don't completely believe is the same way the religion isn't completely true. For one the titles are wrong."
"Wait, what?"
"The god of life isn't a deity that creates life. It would be more accurate if they had the title of; the god of reason. Ruling over cause and effect." The first one's tone and expression were darker this time than when he talked about the first two gods. "Oh, and they aren't the strongest despite having one of the craziest authorities."
"If they aren't who is?" Ryu asked with a confused expression.
"The god of the after-- sorry, the god of death. Izanagi."
"Death? No, that can't be right. He deals with the rest of souls that have passed. So maybe the death part was just mistranslated because if you think about it, they go hand in hand. Right?" Ryu ranted hysterically trying to make sense of the first one's words.
"He doesn't govern who ultimately gets to rest in paradise, he deals with all the aspects of the death of those living, and nothing else." He answered as he turned away from Ryu's wide eyes.
"Does that mean there's no afterlife?" Ryu asked in disbelief. "Don't get me wrong I'm sure you know I don't exactly believe in Enacia but dad did, even mum did, so that has to account for something. But there's nothing after death?" Ryu asked wide-eyed with a somber look.
"Most of what we've been taught is a lie, but there's still some truth within the mess of lies. Even though the lies only leave room for more questions about what else is a lie, the truth has helped us in this fight. As for what's after death I have no idea." The first one answered with a sincere expression that showed he was also still bothered by their deaths.
Silence once again filled the cart and the atmosphere only became heavier. Ryu took a seat and let out a loud sigh. The first one leaned back and spread his arms across the top of the chair, and dropped his head, letting out a sigh as well.
"Are the gods evil?" Asked Ryu.
"You tell me. We refused to live a normal life for a reason after all." The first one answered. "But even after all that, the wins barely make up for the losses." He said, clenching his fist.
