Chapter 4

Macaire slowly started to show his true colours. As someone who was proficient in puppetry, he controlled th minds of all of his servants and family members, including his father. But his trick didn't work on his mother who was completely devastated to know his true nature. She tried to stop him but to no avail. Macaire who was annoyed by it decided to get rid of everyone who opposed him and his ways. Ultimately he killed his parents as well as his two siblings along with other elders of the family, whom he felt could possibly pose a threat to him if left alive.

Even after taking down entire household, he was not satisfied. Macaire desired something even more. He wiped out all the powerful families while creating his army of puppets, and took control of half of the kingdom. The emperor who felt threatned by his growing power sent the saintess and other high ranking knights to deal with him. Being a dual mana wielder, the saintess' aura was not effective on him. In an instant the entire bunch of knights were cleared out. The only survivor was the saintess, whom he took fancy to, imprisoning her in his own castle.

He played with her whenever he was bored. Plucking her nails out, starving her for days, throwing her into a pool of carnivorous marine creatures, skinning her alive, there was nothing he had not done to her. Macaire tortured her in every way he could think of to satisfy his sadistic pleasures.

Moreover he was even crazy enough to collude with the neighbouring country to commit treason. The monarch somehow got this information, with no choice left he went to the lord of Calisto clan to ask him for a favour. Taking advantage of it, he compells the king to sign the contract of soul with him, where the clans get a huge piece of land for them to settle upon in exchange for accepting the Savine family as their descendents as well as their representative. After the war the Castilos had agreed to live in isolation, therefore they decided to use Savine's as their pawn.

The lord swiftly took care of Macaire and his people. Subsequently they even assasinated the saintess while putting the blame of her death on the Savines. The Castilo Clan was incomparable in terms of their mana and power, capable of keeping the whole contenent under their control. Their only weakness was the saintess whose light mana was quite unique and was lethal to them.

Macaire's second son was chosen by the clan, as the succesor of the Savine family. All the descendents of the Macaire Savine inherited his dual elemental core, thus showing the same symptoms. The Castilo's provided the duke with a drug that was to be taken by every member of the household in addition with the duke. This sedative kept their mana under control preventing them from going on a rampage, like a bloodthirsty beast without a leash. The same was to be continued for the next generations to come.

This was all the information Violet had collected up until now. She closed the book after reading the final volume that she had borrowed from the library.

"This explains the strange behaviour of the Savines", said she with an exasperated face. Had she read this book sooner, maybe she would not have fainted at the laboratory a week back.

A few days before...

In the last 12 months, Violet had exploited every are of the estate except the locked and abandoned laboratory, which gave out eerie vibes. Her curiosity got better of her as she boldy entered the room. Going through the dark passage another door popped up, beyond which was something she had not expected to witness.

The room was literally a museum that showcased dismantled parts of humans, with even description of how they managed to do it. The blood sticking on them made it much more disgusting. There were eyes, nose, limbs, toes, fingers and even a head that wore a horrified expression on itself, probably because of the way he was killed. Eventually she managed to pass through them only to witness a horrifying scene unfolding in front of her eyes. It was beyond description, which succeded in driving her unconscious.
