In a world full of psychopaths

The moment she opened her eyes, she found herself in her bedroom. The door opened and her personal attendent Ana, entered with a tray of sweets and tea. She laid it on the table beside the bed and turned towards her.


"Miss Violet, I saw you lying unconsious in the laboratory. You are still young and therefore it's understandable that you could not withstand it. But in the future if you ever catch sight of something horrible like it, please pretend to be okay even if you are not. As a Duke you should not reveal your weakness to others, no matter what the situation is.", said Ana while pouring Violet a cup of tea to soothe her nerves.


Ana, who has been with her for the past few months, knew about her fragile personality. Violet considered herself a strong person in her previous life, but when exposed this kind of cruel world she became weak and frail. Ana took care of the spies and assassins in her stead. It was not unsusal as all the servants in the family were either wanted criminals, murderers or ex-assassins.


"Ana, do you think I am not fit to be the Duke?", Violet felt more and more insecure in this world for she was not able to come to terms with its brutal and inhumane laws of survival.


Ana replied with silence as she knew the answer. Violet gave a forced smile to Ana and went back to sleep.


Before long, it will be VIolet's 'Coming of Age ceremony',celebrating her 18th birthday where she will be bestowed the official title as the Duke by the emperor. It was time for her to join the Academy as the Royal master.


The rule of the Academy, states that a member from the Savine family, the Petro family as well as the Levise family shall be obliged to serve as Royal master in the Academy as a contribution to the kingdom.


Violet had gone through all sorts of lessons during the past 2 years, training her to become a perfect Duke. As she was on her way to the training grounds she was informed by a maid, as to the arrival of a package. The address of the sender gave her quite a surprise for it was not that 'time of the month yet.


Opening the packet, it was the usual drugs given to her by the Castilo's to keep the Savin'e mana under contol. The tranquilizer was to be given once a month and it was the Violet's responsibilty, as the head, to make sure the drugs were taken. Since there were still 15 days left for it, she did not know what to do with it.


Just as she was about to place it in the drawer, her eyes caught glimpse of a small white note. "TO AVOID ACCIDENT" was written boldy on it. Violet immedietly understood what it meant. It was probably given to make sure her event won't go wrong.


Violet already knew the reason for the them to send this to her. Evan Savine, her older brother had been behaving strangely, secretly removing the sedative given to him every month, from his body. Although she kept a close eye on him, VIolet couldn't shake off the feeling of uneasiness.


"Ana, make sure to tighten the security around the estate. Send more men to tail Evan, the moment they find something suspicious, even if its something insignificant, inform them to report it to me immedietly". Violet changed her destination to her brother's room, as she chraged into it without even knocking.
